Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have bought and read your book and its straight and to the point honest advice. Not something you find in this space. My trading has massively improved with the education you are providing here. Amazing work Don and thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience with us.
Love the content and the voice is amazing :) I do have to disagree with the "Its gonna take a few weeks or sometimes maybe a few months to learn this type of trading.." Iv'e been trading since 2009 and this is far from the truth. You really need 5,000 + hours screen time learning price movement before you can even get to a simple break even maybe a little profit strategy. Also the biggest thing is emotions and discipline. All it takes is one day where your not doing well emotionally and your discipline goes out the window. Then you blow out profits that took weeks or months to accumulate. These disciplines take a lot of time to develop and I am still working hard on them as they are the make-it-break-it factors.
Actually... the biggest thing is patience... waiting for the perfect signal ... then discipline. Emotions should never come into play, even if you have a losing trade or day.. I’ve been trading futures about the same amount of time... but that’s definitely great advice you just gave, just wanted to add to it
Appreciated Don! You read my mind regarding a video showing the finer steps to bracket orders. Oh, by the way bought your 'Day Trading Micro Futures' and am finding it very interesting. Many thanks once again. Kind regards.
Much appreciated! Thanks Bob. I swear by the bracket orders and I urge new people (new to trading) - to just bring up the bracket order and play around by putting in some values just to practice with it... at any time they can click the 'clear' button to reset things. When I tell newbies this, they often are worried about 'accidentially' sending out an order --- so for those reading this, I wish to point out that in the trading software there is ALWAYS a second click necessary to actually send an order (unless a trader specifically disables this function, which sometimes very experienced traders prefer to do.) Anyone who need clarification on this, should contact their broker's customer service of course - to be sure and confident about this. Thanks for letting me piggy-back that comment on my reply here. Always glad to hear from you my friend. Stay well and prosper.----- Don
Nice work Don, been following along and trading your style for months and I must say it's been such a refreshing way to make a few extra bucks to put back into my core portfolio intraday. My best advice for newbies is sometimes the best trade is no trade, particularly if the market isn't moving. A question for Don and others: with the market just getting to newer and higher highs seemingly each week, have you been nervous about getting long at any point? Particularly zooming out on the NDX or SPX, it's pretty daunting to think about how far we truly have to fall back to the 5yr average. Futures are such a good hedging tool, it would be great to have a short one on if/when that big drawdown does finally occur against my underlying QQQ, SPY, or IWM positions.
You make some interesting comments about the hedging applications of the equity index futures. Options on the equity indexes are also tools for this hedging application. FYI: I do not hold any equity index positions overnight (where in a hedging strategy, this is not usually the case.) The CME website has good information about using equity indexes for hedging. - Don
Joseph: I'm not sure. Call the TastyWorks help line (888) 247-1963 and ask them. If they do NOT allow the OCO on the mobile app, ask them to direct you on how to use a STOP-Limit or STOP-Market order on the app. Hope this will help.

I'm not sure how to ask this question but here go's. When you reviewed and sent this bracket order, do the two small boxes with the order information appear on the chart automatically ? and, I assume you added the arrows to the right. ie, blue and red.
You are correct on both counts Jeffrey. the tan rectangles and dotted lines are TW; the bright easy-to-see in videos RED/BLUE/GREEN are added to boost the youTube experience and I add them with my software. A lot of people view the videos on cellphones and not always under perfect lighting conditions... so I do my best to make them easy to read and see for everybody. That's a great question and I'm sure many viewers may have been wondering also. I also use a few methods (recording from larger screens with higher resolution for crisper images.)to help the TW parts of the screen make a clear appearance in the videos (I did that about six months ago, so some of the older ones are not quite as clear but they are ok.) I will say that I upload in 1080x1920 so HD quality is there but YT and all other video hosts adjust according to the device on which they are being viewed, internet bandwidth used, and monitor display limitations. Thanks and good luck to you - Don
You can start with less at some of the other brokers - but it is really tough to start with just a few hundred because if you have a few losing trades, you have to stop until you make another deposit. Something in the $3k to $5k range is a good starting amount and is a better experience. Plus trading without any reserves can result in a margin call. This is not recommended. Russell 2000 micro is about 720 usd, dow jones e mini showing about 991.42 for me currently, not sure if you need some liquidity in the account for the time you're in the trade incase it goes south. /MESU1 is about 1200 then NASDAQ is 1700 i think.
@@charliewells3967 thank you for your reply. As far as i know those are the prices, that you have to have in your account if you want to hold that position for overnight. In day trading hours we have margin leverage and it differs from broker to broker. I have switched to Tastyworks because they are providing free real-time data, which is perfect before that tho, i was using tradestation and in tradestation , 1 contract of micro DJIA requires 248 dollar’s purchasing power in day trading hours.
