      I only trade maybe parts of 3 days a week and usually 1 to 3 trades in a day. When someone emails me and tells me they are trading 5 to 15 times a day, I want to write back and remind them they aren't playing the slot machines. (Now, that is for ME, others have to make up their own mindand learn to understand what works for them.) I'm huge on learning better trade selection and (IMHO) trading 10 to 15 times a day seems excessive (from my own viewpoint.)
      The view that day trading Micros is: Get a good formula, then just "rinse wash repeat" is something I never recommend. - Don

    Thank you Don! This was the perfect video I was looking for. Question on TW platform, when you placed your OT OCO we could see a red line for your stop, a blue line for your entry and a green line for your profit target. Did you place those on the video for teaching purposes, or do they actually show up that way on TW when you've placed a trade? I got approved for Futures on TW, but still learning so haven't done a trade yet. I actually think your videos have been more helpful than the TW videos on Futures. 🙂

    When you drag your stop down using the left mouse button and release the button to set a new stop loss, is that a new trade that generates a broker commission? Or, is the commission generated when you open the trade and you can only lose or make money when the trade stops out?

    • @DayTradingMicroFutures
      @DayTradingMicroFutures  8 місяців тому

      Using TastyTrade (and most other brokers), there is zero cost to change an order. Commission only apply when there is a 'buy' or 'sell' executed. For example if you place an order, there is no charge unless the order is filled. No charge to change an order. When in doubt, merely phone your broker - they will be glad to help.
      BTW: For all who read this post: When y ou are new and learning, it is very common to have many questions. Anytime you have a question about trading that involves your money in your trading account, or to ask about charges, etc... One should always call your broker and not rely on what others tell you (even though people mean well, you should always consult your broker for a firm answer.) Misunderstandings are avoided this way. (not all brokers have the same policies, etc.) So to be sure, contact your broker is the best thing to do.

      *How to Start:* Just fill out the account application at this link bit.ly/TW-Link *No deposit or credit card required - and you do not have to fund your account until you are ready.* PLUS, even though you cannot trade until you fund, you can still operate the software and check it out. I think you'll like it. For account type select "The Works" - and you will have an account for trading the Micros. When your application is approved: Just fund your account whenever you are ready to begin trading real time and you'll be good to go.
      A COMMENT: You can start with less at some of the other brokers - but it is really tough to start with just a few hundred because if you have a few losing trades, you have to stop until you make another deposit. Something in the $3k to $5k range is a good starting amount and is a better experience.
      The CME has a free, no deposit, zero cost trade simulation program you can practice with while you get the basics down: www.cmegroup.com/education/practice/about-the-trading-simulator.html This simulator is free and work well.

    I appreciate your videos and they have helped. Been trading for awhile so this question makes me sound a little ignorant. I have won quite a few trades doing the micro mini's doing bracket trades, lost a few simply because I could not move my stop like you do with your mouse. Many of my trades could of been $0 cost or a small profit. Not sure what I am doing wrong, even changed mouse and reached out to Tasty Trade. They told me to trade in the Grid and make a limit order then I should be able to move my stop around on the chart. Did not work. Advice if possible. I do like the micro minis

    • @DayTradingMicroFutures
      @DayTradingMicroFutures  3 роки тому +2

      No, I didn't but only because I don't trade all day every day, my schedule varies greatly. Often when I have one or two good trades in a day I choose to just enjoy it and trade more on another day. I do tend to check on the Micros again during any day at random - and unless I see 'an offer too good to refuse, I move on quickly.
      These types of choices vary widely from person to person. There is a tendency for some traders, right after a good trade to 'run back into the fire' quickly and give half or more of the profits back. However any individual chooses to do it is always up to them of course --- but I find that protecting one's confidence can be just as important as protecting one's account balance. Over-trading is at the top of the list of 'things to avoid' when day trading.
      It seems to be that (for many) they trade like they are sitting at a slot-machine and are ready to trade again with hopes of getting a good turn of events---- and hope, of course, is not a strategy. Over-trading is effectively, just practicing the wrong thing over and over and is usually just not helpful to one's learning curve.
      The plan should be to enter all trades with the goal of one of two outcomes: To either make a profit, or just lose a small amount on it. Achieving this outcome depends directly on one's trade selections more than anything else.
      You might try keeping track of what percentage of your trades either make money, break even, or do not lose more than a certain amount (example: $20.) As that percentage goes UP, so goes your progress.
      Good luck to you - Don

      Hey Blastman. This is something you need to work out using a trade simulator (links to a free one are in the text under my videos.) Over trading and lack of discrimination in choosing trades will be key to your answer. It is almost impossible for me to personalize an answer for you--- all traders are so different. If you are trying to find the 'magic formula' that will eliminate the problems you described, I must tell you the answer will not be on the chart with technical indicators but between your ears and how you select and manage your trades. What works for one person does not necessarily work for everyone of course. - Don

    $250/hr...nice paycheck... By the way Don, is rollover day normally a low volatility day?

    • @DayTradingMicroFutures
      @DayTradingMicroFutures  3 роки тому

      Thanks Larry. No, not really. Just form a habit of being mindful of volatility before enterings a trade. Volatility is not so much a friend or enemy, it is just something we deal with and reading it, as you learn to do more quickly over time and practice, is an important factor in considering how close we might be able to run an effective stop loss order.
      Also being mindful of the 'cost of continuing' the trade (how much of your unrealized gains are you willing to bet that the trend will continue in the minutes ahead.) Good stop-loss management is learning to think this way. Will you make some mistakes as you get better at it?
