- Resident Evil 4 has many many ways you can beat the game, resident evil in general has been tested to its limits, but can you beat resident evil 4 original without reloading? I want to find out, but iunlike previous challenge runs im going to fully lean into this one by exasserbating the challenge as much as possible, so for this one im also not allowed to use my knife, grenades, rocket launchers or glitches This is going to be painful

You made the right call going with the ruleset you did here, and it was fun for you too (which is something kinda overlooked in the challenge run space.) This was a great run. If a game has universal options that can carry any particular run (think Pokemon gen1 with mimic), it absolutely gets repetitive, but sometimes it's mathematically impossible without them. I guess the real challenge run is continuing to find new runs. I'm a fan and will watch regardless, like Ashley while you commit heinous war crimes against a civilian population.

its pretty common for speedrunners to know more about the game they run than the devs of the game.
Glad to see you back and having fun; if I were to say I definitely like the new way (bc your at least having more fun), but I would say that glitches would be allowed only if it’s impossible to progress.
I loved this run and I'm 100% on board with you doing more glitchless challenges. One of the things I've found to be fun about challenge runs (both watching and playing) is trying to find creative solutions, and glitches... yeah, they can kind of invalidate that, to me at least. It does depend a bit on the nature of the glitch, but yeah, the mono-weapon randomizer challenges did start to feel samey with the skip glitches for instance (the Ditman glitch itself I didn't have an issue with, just many of the skips).
I did no merchant/no yellow herb and ended up spending over 2 hours on water hall with over 90 deaths on that one section alone. I never did a challenge run after that. Good on you Waifu your just a fucking god

Yeah movement in that game is not the best, but I really enjoyed playing it, it was very fun
I've always been of the opinion that the mine thrower is a great weapon that's super underrated.

I don't think glitches make the runs less interesting either, but I see how predictable they can be at times. Some sections are cake walks with glitches in RE4. You could try to adopt a system where you really only use glitches if you personally find it more fun to do so.
Personally, I really only use a glitch or exploit if the section in question is just too tedious or not fun. Like Minecart skip. Minecart isn't hard, it's just a really long part of the game where not much is happening and if you happen to fail, you can easily spend a large amount of time not having fun.
But stuff like boss fights I find very engaging and fun, so I opt not to skip any or take the easy way out.

funny thing is that Frugalist has actually be an achievement since RE0, at least on steam. definitely scares me to go back and 100% them.
making a game have some challenge through my own choice is one of my favourite parts of gaming. too easy and i get bored pretty quick, road blocks added for the sake of it though and i get bored of hitting my head against a wall. but add in a decent challenge that may require some retries or a new way of doing something is a fun way to add spice to a game youve played a million times
i amaze with speedrunner, they always had a ways to make every run interesting to watch
This challenge literally looks more fun than a normal playthrough of the Remake on Professional.
I don't hate the remake, but damn... the Tankiness of literally EVERY SINGLE ENEMY IN THE GAME makes the game a lot less fun than it could be.
Let them run at you, shoot them in the leg and then use the knife. Dead.
Honestly it's only the the early village part, after the cabin fight professional is definitely the way to play. I agree the game cheats a little too much though
I love the no glitch’s thing not that it was boring but it’s fun to see how you would do some boss fights and things that you normally wouldn’t. (However I think it makes sense if it’s impossible to beat a section to use a glitch.)

I'm always amazed with your challenger runs. When I saw rules and it was no reload I was like there is nooooooooo wayy that's possible. Man you're good! can't wait for next video. Oh also L4D2 video nonstop chargers run was also super fun. I am more of a L4D2 guy so yeaaa if you can figure out some nice challenge I will happily watch it for sure !
I'm all for adding in extra restrictions to keep the challenges fun. I do a lot of Souls and Fallout NV challenges, and if you play optimally with skips and glitches, you're kind of just avoiding all combat, which makes runs get repetitive. This one's a lot of fun, and I look forward to more like it!

In the remake my proudest moment was completing the no merchant, no healing, and pistol/knife only on the same run.
21:27 I support this new mindset. After all, challenge runs are supposed to be fun and challenge your way about how you normally approach the game, so what's the point of a challenge run if it just uses all your normal strategies, but makes certain bit slightly easier?

You should do a run where you have to beat the remake as if you’re playing the original. No moving while shooting, aiming, stabbing or reloading. No stabbing an enemy to break free when grabbed. No weapons or attachments that are exclusive to the remake and not in the original.

Re4, but you can only switch weapons if you empty your clip? If you reload, same rules apply
You basically need to plot out how best to waste your ammo and time your reloads, and unless you pick up/buy a weapon or upgrade capacity, you will basically always be switching to a weapon with no ammo in the chamber.
