To kinda add to your ending rant: whilst Speedruns feel like you need to fully learn how a game works in order to gain the fastest times, often exploiting odd quirks of the game that only those with massive time investment discover to begin with, a pure, honest no damage run often feels like you're fighting against the game in hopes that you don't just randomly get a run reset out of nowhere, from RNG. One feels like a love-letter to the game and the experience we players get from it as a whole, and the other feels like the game punishing you, sometimes seemingly for no discernable reason. The margin for error is so much higher on a no damage/hit run, that it can border on comical on the ways in which you can fail so quickly. In speedruns, the longer it gets, the more interesting. In longer speedruns, a 2 minute drop from the world record can be made up on a clutch factor skip later in the run later on, which is exciting and hype. No damage run? Got hit? Reset. There is no clutch factor. Only praying to whatever entity you believe in that you don't get a stray crossbow randomly hit you for the first time in 50 runs -,-
While this might be true for games like resident evil, it's not for games like dark souls where no dying, or not taking any hits, or any damage makes you an experienced player. Not speedruns. Dark souls speedruns are very short, and will mostly depend of rng. While no hit/damage runs depends on player skill and understanding game mechanics, enemy patterns, bosses patterns and etc.
@@tam1783 all of the Souls runs I have watched have been heavily optimised. The RNG we're talking is barely a problem too. It's not like a Windwaker 100% Sploosh-Kaboom type RNG, or something like the entirety of Silent Hill 2. Things that can immediately end a run on a dime. Even with bad enemy positions, runners are often able to adapt to the situation and go with it. Also, avoiding using any type of magic that has an RNG element to it, like say: Firestorm and the positions of the pillars of fire, seem reasonable. Plus, with all of that said, fundementally, every speedrun still starts the same: how can we optimise this game to go faster? I think usually a lower margin of error means that there's less room for mistakes, so a segmented run would have a higher margin of error. Just want to point this out for future videos if you use that term again. Love your videos, man. :)
The randomization of remake 4 honestly killed my enthusiasm for it as soon as the village. Game recommended a difficulty up from normal for players who played the 4th game but soon as a headshot didnt stun and an enemy acted weird I knew that difficulty wasn't for me unfortunately, heck the game wasn't for me but I'm glad others can enjoy it
Imagine calling a game trash because you have a hard time not taking a hit. Why don’t we just make every game easy enough a toddler can do it. Holy shit this guy is such a cry baby
There are people, who can legitimately do separate ways no save no damage in very, very few attempts. Some of the issues, that you encountered have nothing to do with the game. Does Re4 Remake have its bad design choices? Definitely. But some of these issues, like the running by the novistadors or the guy with the plaga on his back not getting stunned is not a matter of the game being broken, it's just a matter of routing and practice. Why do you not kill these novistadors, who die in a few tmp bullets, anyways? You already know the game is not consistent so why do you trust the game then? For the wrecking ball section. You can actually kill almost everything from the outside and if you just wait a few seconds for the brute to run towards you, you can shoot the barrel, stun him and the other guys and run past them. For some reason waiting a few seconds makes it, so the shield guy and the others do not spawn in. Just the pig-brute and the other ganado will spawn in. If you do it correctly that is. Even when you just rush this section it is very consistent, if you know what you're doing. You can use a shotgun shot on the plaga guy in chapter 6 and he always gets stunned. Or just back up and shoot him from a safer spot. You literally face-tanked him. You attempted this challenge like a speed run, you suffered consistency for speed. The guys, who did no save/no damage on separate ways so far get this actually done in a few tries. Some of them even on the first try, if they allow themselves to use rockets. Of course they take longer for the actual run, because they do more consistent and safer strategies. Plus they do not use pause-buffering, which is a difference (not a huge difference, but a difference), as it is almost impossible to miss a shot, if you pause-buffer. It saves you a ton of ammo. I think there are some runs for separate ways out there, who do this without crafting a single grenade or ammo... And then you even kind of shit on people, who do segmented runs, by saying they are so easy a baby can do them or that they are for pussies... And your run is not even close to being the fastest, as there is a player out there, who does this literally in under one hour.

So, about the elevator at the end of Chapter 7 (the pain at the end of Attempt 139)... I haven't looked over any coding or anything, but in all my playthroughs, I've always found that button blocked until the Brute (Udders) is dead. The rest of the enemies don't matter (unless they climb on the elevator), but I've always had to kill him before it would let me activate the lift.
This was a insane challenge, i have a question: what do you do when you keep on dying? do you ever quit and does it take alot of mental strength to keep on going after going down over and over again?
Now I'd like to see a No Damage with the starting Pistol and Knife only challenge run. I bet you won't be able to. If you do take up this challenge, then I'm willing to let slide the mandatory other weapons uses (such as the RPG with Saddler and the Del Lago fight)
11:14 Man I will forever hate that Armadura Wine Room in Chapter 4, it is essentially one of the absolute worst areas in the game ever (alongside The Water Room & the Twin Garrador Room) the damn Armors and the 2 cult ganados with crossbows are so damn annoying AF that I could never do a no damage run because of how absolutely BS and small this room is 😡
If you do it" safe and easy"... a no hit run can be boring and "easy". If you combine it with risky and fast strats and try to get it into the realms of a speedrun, that is when the punishing fun begins. Check the world record of ds2 hitless( glitchless) for example, which stays under an hour currently. That one would be even staying strong in the leaderboard for speedruns.
Personally I think both speedruns and no damage runs are super boring. Its just not the essence of the game to finish it as fast as possible. BUT both ways are super impressive and I love it when people have passion :)
Great video in so many ways. Cant even imagine doing a no damage run. Even with cat ears i wouldnt do it lol. Are you planning on doing the full original game no hit run too?
Not worth the amount of suffering even with the cat ears I prefer to survive with a good mental state not a completely shattered brain and I'm usually the amazing type of gamer that should like this shit but I don't I prefer playing and blowing everything up on easy
Someone did a no damage no hit no save S+ kill all enemies 100% file/quests (and I dont think he even leave anything not picked up). Also no rocket no pause buffering while using a controller.
Speedrunning and getting times close to WR's is way harder than a regular No hit run for sure but i dont think you guys speedrunners can do No Hit runs such as Bloodborne All bosses And Chalices, Dark souls trilogy All bosses or the God run for example, no f*ing way, because one thing is doing a short friendly 1 hour run and other way different is doing a 4/5 hours run (or even more) where there is no room for mistakes, you can't trade blows, you can't do glitches and skip whole areas, nothing of that, you have to be a really badass player. That said, i subscribed 😉great video
Is Dynamic Difficulty also in this DLC and difficulty? I'm sure there is some inconsistency due to bugs and genuine randomness but Resident Evil 4Make (which already has inconsistent stun in comparison to RE4) plus No Damage (where the game may make enemies more tanky as you're doing well)... All things considered, it sounds a bit unhealthy and degenerate even for a challenge/speedrunner. No damage runs would have a lot more charm for other types of games (1CC in shumps) and speedruns don't work for every game/person either though I guess categories patch up issues a bit for that.
You mean NHNB runs in shump games? Re4 remake just bad for challenge runs in general due to rng meanwhile those games u just need lots of practice to memorize patternd
@@lovableairheadmile6809 Not exclusively, I wasn't even thinking of no bombs but just getting through without a continue/added credit. On the note of randomisation, I'm fairly new but believe some shumps are more skill based rather memory, so RNG can be a thing there as well though a lot more controlled I imagine.

I was so blessed that I was able to see your 139th run in action. Peak streaming moment I'd say.
rory in earlt 20s omggg i love her
the damage lesson from senpai waifu was very informative lol
Waifu got that sleeper build
So, about the elevator at the end of Chapter 7 (the pain at the end of Attempt 139)... I haven't looked over any coding or anything, but in all my playthroughs, I've always found that button blocked until the Brute (Udders) is dead. The rest of the enemies don't matter (unless they climb on the elevator), but I've always had to kill him before it would let me activate the lift.
Thank god papa waifu blesses us with a video
There's a reason the no damage community doesn't talk kindly about the challenge in this game
This was very educational
This was a insane challenge, i have a question: what do you do when you keep on dying? do you ever quit and does it take alot of mental strength to keep on going after going down over and over again?
Now I'd like to see a No Damage with the starting Pistol and Knife only challenge run. I bet you won't be able to. If you do take up this challenge, then I'm willing to let slide the mandatory other weapons uses (such as the RPG with Saddler and the Del Lago fight)
11:14 Man I will forever hate that Armadura Wine Room in Chapter 4, it is essentially one of the absolute worst areas in the game ever (alongside The Water Room & the Twin Garrador Room) the damn Armors and the 2 cult ganados with crossbows are so damn annoying AF that I could never do a no damage run because of how absolutely BS and small this room is 😡
Says gigachad and then proceeds to flex a Q-tip 😂
If you do it" safe and easy"... a no hit run can be boring and "easy". If you combine it with risky and fast strats and try to get it into the realms of a speedrun, that is when the punishing fun begins. Check the world record of ds2 hitless( glitchless) for example, which stays under an hour currently. That one would be even staying strong in the leaderboard for speedruns.
The run I did is almost twice as fast as the next time, but ok
Hilarious to see your sanity declining drastically after every dozen attempts.
That sniper pause thing shouldn’t be allowed lmao. It makes the game so easy
Professor waifu is better at teaching than most of my teachers 😂
Am I the only one weird enough to see headphone distortions in Waifu's hair during whiteboard moments?
Love your videos bro.
Is pause buffering possible on console? Or just PC?
Not sure, I mean probably I don’t see why not just a bit awkward
Omg dude you are so close to finaly pronouncing it correctly. El he-gon-tay
Do challenges on speparate ways dlc on original and remake re4 more
Enjoed the no damage streams
I ve done re4 remake no damage but it was segmented, and I m actually doing a secound run
Use a wet dishcloth for the whiteboard, works even on old drawings
The factory new dragon lore killed me
Pro whiteboard tip: Spray a little bit of alchohol on the board before erasing. That works for me.
I thought I was tripping BUT Jvne reference
@@thelastgogeta but that won't qualify as a no damage run cause u only said no credit/continue instead of no hit
@@thelastgogeta it's a mixture of skill, memory and rng
@@thelastgogeta also bombs have a negate death property if timed correctly u can essentially deny certain death that's why in these genre it's mostly NHNB = NO HIT NO BOMB 1CC
