CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) make it backstage to hang with their idol Alice Cooper.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name, Wayne's World is a wacky, irreverent pop-culture comedy about the adventures of two amiably aimless metal-head friends, Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey). From Wayne's basement, the pair broadcast a talk-show called "Wayne's World" on local public access television. The show comes to the attention of a sleazy network executive (Rob Lowe) who wants to produce a big-budget version of "Wayne's World"--and he also wants Wayne's girlfriend, a rock singer named Cassandra (Tia Carrere). Wayne and Garth have to battle the executive not only to save their show, but also Cassandra. Director Penelope Spheeris, Myers and Carvey hang a lot of silly, but funny, jokes on this thin plot, and the energy of the cast--as well as the wild pop-culture references--make Wayne's World a cut above the average Saturday Night Live spin-off movie.

Having met him, I can verify Alice Cooper is like this in real life
That's cool! That he's actually like that, I mean.
I wore a University of Michigan jacket as part of my costume when I met Alice, and the first thing he said to me was, “Go, big blue!”
A friend from work said the same thing so it must be true!
I hear he is really nice IRL. That's mighty swell to hear.
Same here 😂
I met Alice at a comic con…and I did the whole “We’re Not Worthy” bit and on cue he held out his hand just like in this clip…it was AWESOME
i will do that too if i meet him
Alice's is the best possible reaction to any would-be worshipper 🤣
💛
Alice Cooper *is* actually a bit of an intellectual and scratch golf player, he's right in character here.
no way! sha. I hope Alice Cooper turns out to be as just in these recent times of the apocalypse
It is uncanny how accurate this is to what Alice is like in person.
My father took me to see him in 2003 when I was 8 and we happened to be sat next to his PR lady. She couldn’t believe I was so young but loved Alice Cooper so she gave my dad and I backstage passes to meet him. I was absolutely terrified because I thought the Alice character was like that all the time and when you got back there, he’s literally your next door neighbor. The most mild mannered gentleman I’ve ever met. And it was rare to see my dad shook, he was starstruck. Alice was the soundtrack to this coming of age in the 70s. He always said he regretted not knowing what to say, because he had so much he wanted to tell Alice. But the best part is that I had just started learning guitar and my dad told Alice about it. Alice asked how old I was, and when I said I was 8, he said maybe in 10 years you’ll be playing for me.
Still haven’t gotten the call.
My dad passed away in July and the last thing he gave me was a blown up, framed photo of me and Alice from that night. Alice cooper, among many things, was just something my dad my loved and I got it like nobody else could. I think my dad was the only person in the world that got why that music resonated with me the way it did, and that’s really special.
Wow
Great story
Somebody should screen shot this and send it to Alice Cooper, you never know, maybe your call will come
What an awesome story and memory. I'm sure your dad treasured that awell, meeting his idol with you at his side. Thanks for sharing, and have a great day.
That's an awesome story.
"Isn't Milwaukee an Indian name?"
"Yes, Pete, it is."
Frank O Laughed my ass off at that.
"I was not aware of that!!"
Perfect delivery from Alice. The man's got some comedic chops.
The lines from American Psycho were a bit like that
"Is that a raincoat you're wearing ?"
"YES. Yes it is !"
So glad I’m not the only one who loved that moment 😂
"Yes Pete, it is!" His teacher-esque delivery there is so funny
Yes Pete, it is! His delivery of that line gets me every time!
Tom Barraclough I was not aware of that!
Same
Believe it or not, Pete is my lead tutor at college!
@@lewiswhillier2657 Yes Lewis, he is.
Reminds me a lot of The delivery in american psychos its hip to be square scene
It's funny cause Alice Cooper is actually that intelligent.
.........ooof. Wow did that BOMB. Like you actually thought you had a home run there and....just wow.
I don't think it's up to you decide or judge; we all walk different paths through life. But that's just my opinion.
+VEHICROS Dude, that's just the persona he portrays in his concerts and music. He's not actually like that. Not to mention, the Bible has violent stuff in it, too.
Cold Ethyl you mean? That song is about alcohol! Didn't you get it?
+VEHICROS, the same as above...you did not get the sense of the songs. Dead Babies is about child ignoring. An accusation. Not a self-realization. Get it?
The scene kills me every time when Wayne says "does this guy know how to party? While Alice cooper immediately has a dumbfounded look on his face.
His expression is the funniest part of the scene in my opinion
@@butlercorp I agree.
He’s like what is wrong with you guys why did he gave them his hand when they were not worthy help me out thanks
It’s just a part of the joke… A traditional way of expressing obedience is “kissing the ring”, but that’s like medieval stuff. The joke is that he’s met people like this before, and it’s easier to let them worship him for a bit and get it out of their system.
He looks heartbroken
It's funny as fuck because Alice Cooper is always saying facts about history and stuff on Facebook.
Really?
yes freaky facts
He does more than Facebook. Ironically he is a radio DJ now. Nights with Alice Cooper. I always listen to him on Rocky 99 every night here in the states in PA. He is great!
Give me the podcast link of his show
That's not ironic. It would be ironic if he were an FCC censor or something.
He's smooth, real nice guy, just normal.
That's right, man. He loves to drink a few Budweiser and golf. (Apparently he's a pretty good golfer, as well.) And has a stable marriage, too.
One of the best cameos ever. The “Here, kiss my hand,” is icing on the cake.
*Aerosmith:* _"You're worthy, get up, we're just humble guys like you."_
*Alice Cooper: **_"I require more devotion as the future overlord of your netherworld, commoners."_*
Was great
When he opens his hands up and looks to the sky to say "the good land", that's just magic.
And with the riding whip in his hand as well. Awesome.
I was not aware of that
My best friend and I still just repeat that line every once in awhile just for the comedic relief all these years later
Yes Pete it is.
Lol best part.
+dannyphehe Wait What do you mean?
Pete Friesen the line
It’s straight outta one of those kid town hall specials MC’d by some semi celeb, or some PBS kids instructional show
He delivers that line perfectly
My friend was flying out to Milwaukee and he was seated next to a middle aged woman who told him she'd always been terrified to fly but her daughter was getting married there. She asked him if he traveled to Milwaukee often and he ran this routine (without Pete). She complimented him on how knowledgeable he was to the amazement of a guy 3 rows back who got the reference.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That is hilarious!
It would have been amazing if the guy three rows back said "Sorry to interrupt, but isn't Milwaukee an Indian name?.
That is without a doubt the greatest story I’ve ever heard 🤣🤣🤣
Anytime someone says “Milwaukee” I say “it’s actually pronounced milly wah a Kay”
and i say your pretentious
They could have paid homage to this with Ted in how I met your mother since he always corrected pronunciation. It would have been even funnier if Alice Cooper was the reason he did it.
"Which is Algonquin for...the good land."
As a wisconsinite you get my stamp of approval
billyblackattacks Absolutely!!!
As soon as Alice goes into "-but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors" I lose it. It's just such a great opening line for the joke.
Fun fact, Cooper's guitarist in this scene, Pete "Freezin'" Friesen is in fact my guitar tutor at ACM. And yes I quote this film to him constantly. Turns out there's only so many times you can say "we're not worthy" before you wind him up haha.
I Was Not Aware Of That!
entertain7us14 And now I have another one-liner to wind him up haha
***** Hahahaha that's awesome. Does he have any cool/funny stories from filming the movie or touring with Alice?
ladistar unfortunately I haven't had much time to ask, but I'm gonna ask him for a few anecdotes next Monday, for last lesson of term, so watch this space :P
+Cult Of AWESOME Hey are his classes free?
Alice Cooper also hosts a radio show. He's a razor sharp intellectual in real life. It's one of the reasons why he's such a good actor and performer.
And he's best friend for life with Johnny Depp 👍
What A Legend.
If he was my history professor I would have straight A's XD
Kitty Kat yes
But then, wouldn't school be out forever ?
YES. To the extend that Alice Cooper is teaching.
Yes, it is, Pete.
Yup i would do the same bro
"I was not aware of that" I've been saying that every time I find out something new for 26 years. maybe one time in 20 the other person gets the reference.
I'm like that with a lot of different references and most don't know I'm referencing a funny line from a movie accept it's more like 1 in 40 lmao
Yes Pete, it Is! His delivery of that line is so brilliant!
what's funny is he's apparently really like this outside of his music...I mean I've never met him but from what I've read he's a pretty down to earth, intellectual, normal guy and also pretty friendly
Alice Cooper is really, really Awesome. :) Yeah, and yes, he has that wild side, but I think he's really tried to get away from the "evil" element more... At some point, he just figured that enough was enough, and that he wanted to go a little bit different direction in life...
Course, I never really saw him as being "dark" or remotely "evil", anyway, just having more of a taste for the "wild" side of life, some evil, but nothing even remotely demonic, just something akin to wanting to have a good time, party, eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die, etc. But I think he always had a good heart, and never had a mean bone in his body. :)
He's actually a conservative Republican...never woulda guessed that lol.
*****
That's not exactly true:
"Although legendary rocker Alice Cooper has been often quoted in the media as a supporter of the Republican Party, Cooper set the record straight during a recent interview with Canada's Hour.ca".
"I'll be honest, I go from Democrat to Republican," he said. "I vote for the person, not the party."
***** I guess he really wouldn't be into dead babies...
Just saw Alice Cooper live. If you haven't, and have the possibility, do not pass him up.
Even at age 67. Trust me.
tastethejace saw him with Morley crue it was just amazing both bands rocked but Alices stage show def wins by a landslide.
Alice is an incredible performer.
Saw him a couple weeks ago. Age 70 and he's still got it.
Saw him last week in Greenville SC, amazing
I've seen him three or four times in the last six years. Will see him again next month when he's performing with the Hollywood Vampires.
Just recently Alice Cooper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Should have happened at least 10 years ago.
People say that about almost every artist inducted.
Harry Son Then it should have opened ten years earlier.
At the very least.
Harry Son
Fans may say that but when Alice Cooper was inducted, it was the reporters that brought it up. Namely, the band had been eligible for many years and the Hall ignored them. Lesson over. School's out for Summer...
and just recently NWA was inducted because the rock n roll hall of fame has about as much to do with rock music as socks have to do with skyscrapers
I love this part! Especially the very end where Alice sticks his hand out. Alice Cooper = one of the best things about Wayne's World :)
+Lon Tanner he is the reason I watched Wayne's world XD
+Bro Bro-ntosaurus hell yeah baby! Alice is rock royalty to the MAXX!!!!!
I'm not even close to kidding when I say that if I meet Alice Cooper, I'll reenact this scene, word for word without any warning.
lmfao
+Morbius Fitzgerald I doubt I would. I would more likely wet myself and pass out. There are some people I have ascended to near godhood and I highly doubt I could contain myself around them.
I've heard he hates when people do that.
+Jordan Loux Well, Alice will probably just have to pray that we never meet.
who wouldn't?
Neil Gaiman met with Alice Cooper to discuss working on a comic book the week after Wayne's World came out. He hadn't seen the movie when they sat together at a café in Phoenix AZ, so he was taken aback when two fans rushed over, knelt before Alice, and bowed while chanting "We're not worthy!" Alice thanked them, bowed back, very gracious about it. When Neil asked him what that was about, Alice replied, without skipping a beat, "Just a small token of the respect I'm shown in Phoenix."
I wonder if they knew who Gaiman was. Meeting him would be amazing, too.
"Yes Pete, it is" - gets me every time!
I still love his radio show. He is so down to earth that you literally taste dirt listening to him just hanging out with you and occasionally playing music. 😊
He was invited on a show in Montreal years ago, and he was exactly like that: polite, knowledgeable (and very funny)!
Waynes world is genuinely one of the best films ever made
The logic is undeniable 🤖
The french dubbing of this is legendary. The film was dubbed by Les Nuls, a collective of humorists, and what they did is they left Alice Cooper's english voice, but with a softer volume, and overdubbed with a loud and neutral french voice, like in those news reports made in foreign countries, pushing the documentary vibe to the extreme.
The way Alice Cooper says "Yes Pete, it is" gives me Serotonin and I'm not quite sure why.
Alice always brings the best musicians on tour with him. They put on such a great show that I didnt feel worthy when I saw them a few years back touring with Motley Crue.
Does this guy know how to party or what?
I was not aware of that.
I'll bet that's how he really is ever since he gave up the bottle.
Yeah, I just literally choked while drinking water while that part hit and I lost it lol
Huh, huh?... awh
Oh
The crazy thing about Alice is that although he makes himself look scary with that makeup, he's a really nice guy. He's basically the anti-Marilyn Manson
So you're saying Marilyn Manson makes himself look nice with makeup, but he's actually a really scary guy.
@@Bauglir100 nope. I'm just saying that while his scary makeup was for show, Marilyn's scary makeup was very fitting as he was a horrific guy in person
The look on Alice's face at 1:22 is priceless.
Damn, I wanted to know more.
Are you worthy?
Me too.
If you'd like to learn more about Milwaukee, you can't go wrong with William George Bruce's two-volume study "History of Milwaukee, City and County". Party on!
Yeah lol
"Yes, Pete, it is." just made me laugh. Thanks for posting this, movieclips!
Just curious, why “ yes Pete , it is” is funny? I saw many comments saying the same thing, please explain to me if you don’t mind.
@@hortenseplaceg9740 It's the fact that it's presented in an extremely "teacher-y/nerdy" way, as if it were a history lesson not being currently told by a rock legend known for being more than a little outlandish
It's like listening to Marilyn Manson's Clone High appearance
@@hambor12 thank you so much!! Now I understand. I appreciated your help.
Anyone else notice the girl in the background going “What losers, huh!” When Alice asks Wayne and Garth to stay and hang out with them 😂 it’s around 1:29
This is part of the Wayne's World gag. Back when it was a skit, the 1990 episode with Aerosmith was pretty much the same. Steven Taylor was saying some pretty intelligent thing about the Cold War. Wayne's face like "ok".
Love Wayne's World! Excellent, Party On!!!
It’s actually Steven Tyler and not Steven Taylor :)
"We're not mental or anything"...
Alice is a DJ on BBC Radio 6Music sometimes and his shows are good... er they rock! ;)
and now the shipping forecast presented by Alice Cooper.
I’d listen to the news on the radio hosted by Alice Cooper especially the BBC Radio 2 news a rock is more interesting to listen to than Moira
He once played a track from Billion Dollar Babies and then said "I was just reading the lyrics on the album and apparently I've been singing the wrong words for the past 40 years..."
The look on Alice’s face when he holds out his hand is priceless.
"Does this guy know how to party or what?"
"We're not worthy!"
"We're not worthy!"
Alice is so freakin chill and amazing!! So happy I got to see him myself, Thursday!! ♥♥♥♥♥
Gotta give props to the actors and "non-actors" back in the day, who made these movies. Alive holiding it together, Rob Lowe acting acting, while Mike and Dana hamming it up. Tia Carrera just Tia Carrera y'know.
This scene is so funny.
Especially Alice Coopers hand gesture.
I love Alice... He's like the nicest guy ever!
I don't know why but "Yes, Pete, it is" cracks me up.
*Love how he just unabashedly nonchalantly and unfazed he sticks his paw out for them to kiss*
Only Alice Cooper can be as cool as he is and still deliver such a great history speech
In this scene, I like that Wayne was so respectfully polite, that Alice Cooper was so informative and wanted to educate people about Milwaukee, and that Garth really didn’t say much..
In the end, Wayne and Garth lost their minds and Alice Cooper wanted his hand kissed.. LOL
Met Alicee Cooper in a chinese restaurant. He signed my placemat "Happy New Year 1989" coolest guy ever!!! I want to say it was during his Trash Tour. I was 10yrs old and frickin knew it was Alice Cooper hell yeah!!
Wayne’s World is hilarious! I love how Alice Cooper expresses his intelligence humbly and Wayne is so in awe he says a bad joke.
This humor held up amazingly well.
Mike Myers was well ahead of his peers
I think the funnies part is that Alice Cooper is quite a down to earth guy in real life. He DJ's the rock station here in Tucson, which is awesome.
+Joseph Shelton CAN U CALL IN THE STATION. IF SO IM MOVING TO TUCSON
+Joseph Shelton and his resturant is awesome as hell as well
nick davis I believe you can
Joseph Shelton
next time im in tucson im gonna call and say IM NOT WORTHY. also his house is huge
"Nights with Alice Cooper" is a syndicated program recorded wherever the fuck he lives. Lots of stations carry it.
I work for TSA at an airport two days ago and Alice Cooper comes in. And I almost did this
Gay
@@Ketannabis You'd know ALL about that.
Alice Cooper is the man. That stage act could only have been dreamt up by a genius, which he is. Funny as hell too! He changed Rick and roll!
LOL, We're not worthy. We're Not worthy. Alice is a rock god!
LoveThatPhantom “you’re worthy, you’re worthy! Get up!”
Just shared this with a few British friends who have never heard of Milwaukee. They of course know Alice Cooper and Waynes World!
He really is this chill in person, and extremely intelligent.
Seriously...nobody is cooler than Alice Cooper.
Alice should be a history teacher. That class would rock!
I had a test on this, and because of Alice I got an A. Yay!
you should go on Facebook and tell him.
Fanik10 woah would he like reply?
I say Maybe
Matchstick 7886 lol wow tell me his facebook acount
Ylva 0,0 I don't Know his account
This is how Alice really is! He was asking my son what grade he was going into, He wanted my autograph when I gave him the drawing I did of him! He wanted us to hang out with him. and I swear I wanted to drop to my knees and do the same thing as Wayne and Garth!
I heard a radio interview with Alice and this scene was quasi-improvised (as was much of the movie). Alice is a great guy. He lives in my city and does a lot of charity work and is great to his fans.
How can you not love Alice Cooper? Legend
Thanks for the rec jacob
One of the best scenes ever.Yes, Pete, it is.
My father worked for Warner Bros records in the late 70s and 80s in South Jersey...he met Alice a few times, they had a common ground aside from music, they were both alcoholics...Alice had been sober for over a decade at that point. My dad was newly sober...they went to a AA meeting and lunch and my dad told me he was just like this in real life. A super nice guy with great conversation.
True story.
Pete taught me how to play a Stereophonics tune.
He literally introduced himself like “ I’m Pete, I played with Alice Cooper. I was in Wayne’s world. “
*Proceeds to show clip*
Ok but what Stereophonics song?
@@kruggyy Dakota, but we studied lead, rhythm and the overdubs which are actually interesting.
And then had to perform the song in a classroom setting like we were doing reports. It was uncomfortable. But it taught you how to get over stage fright when the Audience are sitting at desks an inch away from you literally taking notes.
😂 I love how he held his hand out like, “🙄 Kiss it.”
When Alice Cooper was in Australia, he played a round of golf (I know!) at Northbridge in Sydney. While waiting at the next tee, he struck up conversation with a random player. He asked the guy what he did for work, to which the reply was ‘geologist’. Alice goes, ‘cool! 2 rock gods!’
What a legend 😂
0:28 and 1:39 LOL The look on Alice Cooper's face at 1:21 is priceless.
My pre-conceived notions about legendary rock stars were shattered by this one scene the first time I saw Wayne's World :).
It's their passion to play music, and perform.. If u do what you love, the money will come.
The legend, Alice cooper
They say never meet your heroes but Alice Cooper is one of a few I would make an exception for. I have only ever heard good things about him from the fans that have met him and from his interviews he seems like a good chill guy.
Omg his voice is soooo smooth. I love listening to it. Love nights with Alice Cooper!
“We’re not worthy, we’re not worthy”
And hence the second best line in Wayne’s world was born
What's the first?
@I'm just a worm I was not aware of that!
"I think one of the most interesting aspects of Milwaukee is the fact that it's the only major American city to have ever elected three socialist mayors."
DOES THIS GUY KNOW HOW TO PARTY OR WHAT?!
Things that Alice Cooper/Wayne's World taught us about Milwaukee:
1. The French missionaries and explorers came there as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans
2. Milwaukee is actually pronounced Mee-lee-wa-kay
3. Milwaukee is an Indian name; it is Algonquin for "The Good Land"
4. Milwaukee is the only major American city to have elected three socialist mayors
love how he just sticks his hand out like yes....yesss
Kiss the hand.
I have to admit, I'm here because of Jacob Drawfee. 😅
"does this guy know how to party or what!" is so perfectly timed to the remark about three socialist mayors, it slays me.
Man, I, for some reason never really noticed that Smokeshow sitting behind Alice. Those legs are glowing!
Alice said not a week goes by that summer doesn’t come up to him and say “we’re not worthy “.
I’ve been watching this movie since it first came out. Every time this scene comes up, I think “How does his guitarist play that little hammer on guitar lick?!”
Watching this in celebration of meeting Alice Cooper 7 hours ago! Ever since I started acting on stage, he has been my biggest inspiration as far as looking for ways to spice up my performances, so that was definitely a dream come true.
"Yes, Pete, it is"....always cracks me up.
It's funny how they walked right in without knocking.

"We're not mental or anything so don't be afraid"
*LoL*
14 years before the Wayne's World movie, Cooper was in the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band movie, which was distributed by Paramount (which released Wayne's World) in international territories. Sgt. Pepper's US distributor was Universal, which is now under common ownership with NBC, the network which airs Saturday Night Live (originator of the sketch on which Wayne's World is based).
I was not aware of that.
This along with Charleston Heston in Wayne’s World 2, are seriously two of the best cameos in film history.
Happy 76th birthday, Alice Cooper
0:37 "Definitely locals" " Geeks for sure"😂
I'm using this for a Wisconsin presentation for my Civics class. lol
go for it!
Hopefully the teacher doesn't think you're mental, hahahah. I'm just being funny.
Charlton Heston’s cameo in the second one was just as funny.
One of the nicest blokes in rock helps alot of people with mental health issues,he himself was in an institution for drink issues been sober since
I would really love to see what would happen if Wayne and Garth met Bill and Ted
There would be an incredibly awkward " Didn't two of you used to have careers" conversation.
It would be Excellent.
Now that's crossover I would have like to watch.
