This drill seems deceptively simple, and one might think it is so simple it may not be that effective. But having been doing it now for the last days I can tell you it is hands down THE BEST drill I have tried to get the feeling of shallowing, staying down through the ball, and most importantly, feeling that side bend I've been chasing. You don't need any other training aids either, and you can do it on the course before you hit your shot. Gamechanger for me. Thanks JC!

Interesting drill, I will give this a try in the nets tomorrow before playing - if the course is open! Incidentally, I practiced in the nets today trying to keep my hands low in the approach to the ball and exiting high. I found better results if I consciously straightened my trail arm whilst moving it closer to my right trail side as well as keeping my right shoulder down. A similar concept to your drill is it not?.

Would the split grip drill not also accomplish this too? With a few more added side benefits (like width in backswing)?

i will definitely give this a try today as i cant for the life of me get out from early extending, ive tried every drill from the towel under arm drill, the seat behind the left butt cheek, shallowing the club, slowing my swing, etc... right before i get back to the ball between P1 and P2 my trail arm gets away from me and i loose all shaft lean. i can still hit ball then turf but the strike is inconsistent as i hit a lot of thin shots

Get an actual lesson from him. It’s pretty cheap and he did a ton with me in 1-3 lessons. I still work with him but my swing has gotten so much better. I was a bad early extender.
