How This Team Found Four(!) New World Tarantula Species in 10 Minutes

- Follow us on our Peru field trip expedition in search of known and unknown animal species from the group of tarantulas - almost like an adventure seen on BBC or National Geographic. Tarantulas roam the earth for millions of years. Tarantula documentaries are a rare sighting on platforms like these - hence we have decided to film tarantulas in their native habitat in the country of origin and share it with the world for free! To help raise awareness regarding these magnificent creatures who are mostly misunderstood.
In this episode we showcase four different species of tarantulas of which not a single one has a scientific name, meaning that it is still an undescribed species and new to science. This is not all luck - this is weeks and months of preparation for a field trip like this. It's a passion we are proud of to share with all of you.

Another absolutely amazing video from you guys. Thank you so much for sharing your passion of these incredible creatures. I was wondering if you would be interested in showcasing other mygalomorph families and genuses such as Actinopus or Dipluridae.

Any updates on the official scientific classification of the Xenesthis species? Has any progress been made?
I dont work on this genus - so no idea how far they are already. Normally it takes a few years
Oh wow that’s a beautiful species. Well all of them were. Nicely done mate

Very cool encounters. Thanks for sharing. Cheers :-)
Has the tarantula at the end been described yet? If so what’s the name
the black Bistriopelma in the end? No, it's currently in process, will get a name this year
@@birdspiders thanks
Beautiful Tarantulas und landscape Danke fur Teilen mein freund
🕷️🕸️
thank you! always welcome :)
Wow, amazing work and video. The Landscapes are very beautiful as are the tarantulas. I always enjoy your uploads. Keep em' coming. 😁 *cheers*
thank you Christoph!
Amazing work! In a phylogenetic sense, how would Bistriopelma and Hapalotremus be related to one another? I’m aware of the established tribes of Grammostolini and Hapalopini, but where do these species fit here? I would assume that Bistriopelma would fall into Grammostolini because of how the urticating setae are arranged similar to Phrixotrichus species. So would Hapalotremus fall into Hapalopini because of the single patch of urticating setae, or would they also be in Grammostolini?
I think the full picture we will only get in upcoming works including members of Antikuna spp. and a broad sampling doing it with genetics and not only classic morphological cladistics. But we hope to have that answer this year, so stay tuned👌
Great video as always! I never visited the highlands in Peru, this video made me wanna leave right away! Btw, have you seen the "chicken spider" yet?
thank you!
no, we havent been in the lowlands of Peru - maybe next time👍
It's always exciting to find new species of animals of any kind 😀
thanks for your comment!

Hey Martin.. brilliant upload, super cute tarantulas.i always wish your uploads were longer..does this mean if you guys discovered it,it can be named after you ? It makes you think though how much we pamper our captive breds, compared to in the wilds. Beautiful footage.👍
sure thing! either we can work ourselves on this species or collaborate with colleagues on them. Naming species after us happened before as well as describing species by ourselves, pretty amazing!
@@birdspiders that is absolutely amazing..keep up the good work,we depend on honest talks by you all at birdspidersCH..👌
