Excavating the burrows of two Thevenet's Trapdoor Spiders, Hebestatis theveneti, in the Sierran Foothills. 2nd channel: @generalapathy2 Instagram: ...
I love how much individual personality is still evident even on spiders. I'm amazed how some jumping spiders will be immediately calm when being handled and even start grooming themselves, while others would rather be miles away. It's just a little crazy to me to see that kind of variation from something with a brain the size of a poppy seed.
Recently I have become obsessed with scorpions, camel spiders, and centipedes. Found your channel about 3 days ago. The information in your videos is awesome. Love it happy to subscribe.
I saw this video in my recommended and thought it was really interesting and well done. I was expecting to see millions of views and was astonished! Your content is really good please keep posting.
Very interesting video, I would never have thought spiders could build little houses, especially the door is impressive. Maybe you can make a video about how they build those doors, and the homes in general
One of these days, you're going to hear a knock at the door, only to be served for breaking and entering, false imprisonment, and destruction of property. XD
I'm surprised how chill these spiders are being (especially considering this guy destroyed their homes lol). I thought they were going to be like the more aggressive species.
I think mygalomorphs are cool and trapdoor spiders especially but I cannot get over the arachnophobia for this one...were you ever afraid of spiders? also would you do this with an Australian mouse spider?
"i dont want to hurt the spider of course" *shakes the thing vigorously like hes trying to get ketchup out of a bottle* *this is a joke and im sure with all of your knowledge of these creatures you know what does or doesnt hurt them :)
"I don't want to hurt the spider" Yeah, you just want to destroy its home suddenly and without warning. Oh and don't forget scaring the crap out of it by shaking it violently How would you feel if you were just chilling in your living room and a ran a wrecking back through it, or a swat team kicks in your door and drags you out of the bed you were sound asleep in and had done absolutely nothing wrong? You could have just teased it out to film with no harm and no destruction. Fairly easy to do with trapdoor spiders if you have just a little patience. There was absolutely no reason or need to destroy its home as you already found an abandoned one to show. This was informative for many people, true enough-but also extremely cruel.
love how informative your videos are. but is there another way you could have coaxed the spider out of its burrow rather than destroy it? flipping and stuff like this is extremely destructive can't you show people a better way of doing this so they don't think its cool to just go destroying a whole zone. you gotta put some sort of disclaimer or something up to keep people informed and protect nature. Habitats are more sensitive than we know!
@@GeneralApathy how ridiculous of me to care about nature, you're right ofcourse and destroying natural environments for likes is fantastic. Kill and destroy whatever you want, your channel is so successful because of it
Trap door spiders are way more versatile and clever than people give credit too. The can rebuild in a day or two depending on where they want to build it. You cannot review/study a spider when its hiding and they will not come out unless you break open their trap or another reason which forces the spider out.

I love my jumping spider, she is full of personality 🥰
Jumping spiders can problem solve too
The spider just chillin in his nice house he made:😎
This guy:💥⛏
Fax
The spider: MY HOMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE
If reality got reversed, imagine being in your house while a gigantic spider held your front door open and filmed you trying to close it. 😂
I dont think that would be a case they would have eaten our scientists are very crazy claming possibilities of every kind really

Spider was like “cmon bruh, the eviction notice said 2 more days..”
Spider comes back from an errand: "I locked the door...but they took the whole house!"
The fact that you just shook something most people would be terrified of right out on to your hand is both really funny and very fitting
I almost had a heart attack when he violently shook it into his hand

Thank you so much. New videos on the way. :D
That spider who tried to close the doors:
"C´mon, were ya raised in a barn? CLOSE THOSE G´DAMN DOORS!"
They are fascinating!
“I don’t wanna hurt the spider”
Spider: YOU DESTROYED MY F**KING HOUSE!!
3:51 "YO MAN why you stealing my home?"
That spider must have been so confused lmao.
She was so calm and she didn’t try to bite or anything. She was very cooperative ☺️
Great vid, well documented and enjoyed watching !
“I don’t wanna hurt the spider of course.” Just traumatize it lol
Very interesting video, I would never have thought spiders could build little houses, especially the door is impressive. Maybe you can make a video about how they build those doors, and the homes in general
Thank you. I have considered it.
Finally, there is something that is NOT bigger in texass. Those are some BIG ASS trapdoor spiders. Ultra-fine video thanks.
This madman is picking up extremely venomous spiders and I'm just over here freaking out and asking him why, but it's all good LOL
One of these days, you're going to hear a knock at the door, only to be served for breaking and entering, false imprisonment, and destruction of property. XD
Your vids are awesome. I find the trapdoor and purseweb focused ones particularly interesting.
Brave to pickup a trapdoor spider. In my experience they are exceptionally grumpy.
I like these. We have small ones in Washington State, and I usually try and pick one up when I see it. They just look so neat with their shiny legs.
I just found your Channel recently. Love the content!
Thank you very much. :)
""I'm not trying to harm the spider" - says that while destroying its house...
I love your videos man, insta too. Such charming stuff.
:D
They’re nice and Chunky
I like spiders, they're interesting little animals
Coolest videos ever you will be making money within two years man
What do trapdoor spiders do if their burrow gets destroyed? Do they just make another or wander around senselessly?
They build another within a day or two if the soil permits.
In other words, it isnt his problem as long as he gets views on his channel at the expense of these creatures.
I find these cute. They're so rotund
I'm from California and never knew. I can remember seeing those doors but didn't see a spider. Really cool
I'm surprised how chill these spiders are being (especially considering this guy destroyed their homes lol).
I thought they were going to be like the more aggressive species.
This is such a cool video I am now buying this spider all because of this video I'm from minnesota so I cannot just go find one
I've always found trapdoor spiders to be extremely cute, must be the stumpy legs hahaha
I love you're channel, you're my favorite UA-cam channel. I am still looking for feather millipedes keep up the good work!!!
Thank you. :D
Poetic spider stuff, thank you.
"I don't wanna hurt the spider ofcourse" but just destroy its home so its forced to spend valuable energy to build a new one.
the spiders watching you tear apart their homes: D:
does it take them a long time to build those kinds of tunnels?
1-2 days. Usually they can rebuild it in a single night.
3:50 OMG he's so tiny and cute 😍
Shut the door you trying to air condition the whole neighborhood
I did not know we had these here in the Sierra Nevadan Foothills, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for burrows next time I'm out and about 'splorin'!
Me too! Im gona be looking for them everywhere now lol
That first one was attempting to hang on for dear life
Why d’you break the burrow 😢
Great vid as usual! New subscriber here! Keep up the great work mate!
Excelente vídeo sobre fauna Americana especificamente en el estado de California saludos desde Chihuahua.
woow those spiders really looks cool, can you keep it as pet? sorry for nub question
Yes, you can.
So you broke into their home while they were out shopping?
this was cool!
You gotta have a reimbursement for the spiders home being destroyed
Are these spiders considered tool users?
-human came and destoryed my little cozy home to study me, but he could have at least knocked on my door :c
Trapdoor spiders use to freak me out, but these are just cute
I can't find anywhere how long these guys live.?
your videos are amazing 👏
Thank you, Kerem. :D
I've always confused these guys with tarantulas, I think it might be the size.
Hi, is that the largest species of trapdoor? (In the world) If not, which one is?
It is not. I don’t know which species is the largest, but some of the largest genera I know of are from southern Africa.
I guess bringing a stick or picking up 1 to walk the spider out of the entrance to it's burrow
I think mygalomorphs are cool and trapdoor spiders especially but I cannot get over the arachnophobia for this one...were you ever afraid of spiders? also would you do this with an Australian mouse spider?

You destroyed this mans home 💀💀💀
that spider got cake bro
Spider wasp probably got the first one.
Very cute

What’s the soil content, if I can find one in the U.K. I would like to recreate the same soil or at least as close as I can get it
They aren't very picky. I recommend soil that is just mostly composed of clay.
💛
Dude, i wish i was half the man you are. Love the videos, would jump off a bridge if any of these creatures came close to me.
id liek to see how he would like a bull dozer comen into his house and plowing it down ROFL
I live in California 🗿 I had no idea we had these things out here burn the whole state 🗿
I see one of those I’m running
So interesting but I feel bad that their home is getting destroyed. Do they rebuild a burrow quickly?
It takes them less than a day to rebuild. I’ve never observed longer.
@@GeneralApathy okay I figured that! I can tell you respect these animals. Thanks for the reply!
Pretty weird looking 🤔 pretty nice Builders though
i dont wanna hurt the spider ofcourse lol but destroying his home lmao noice
Wait wait wait.......I thought trapdoors were extremely venomous, why the heck is this guy picking them up like they're fresh fallen blueberries??
Trapdoor spiders are mostly nonvenomous and nonaggressive, you’re thinking of funnel web spiders
Yupp you're correct I had them confused for funnel web spiders, I guess you learn something new everyday thanks 😊
Why always a good creator who risks his live for videos have less subscribers than those who shake their ass in the name of dance
The only lives he's risking are the spiders. He shouldn't be destroying their homes for views.
Honestly not a super creepy looking one
Süß :D
Bro's THICC
She was prity
He a THICC boi
Edit: I know it's a female obviously
Why are you digging them up and destroying their homes? Genuine question
They can make a new home in a day or a single night.
Chonky fellows
You destroyed its burrow, plunged it in your hand and then no bite, really? Not that intelligent little critter indeed.
why are we bothering the animal
Ssss
Interesting videos except for destroying their entire habitat for a video
Seems you don't know what a habitat is. That aside, I would have collected them regardless of whether I had shot this video or not.
