  • ** UPDATE: Currently I have added a third shim which goes approximately 120° around the inner barrel mount, without any malfunctions, shooting all-black groups. **
Quick tune of the barrel in any KWC made 1911 BB variant.
This tune only needs around 15 minutes of time, a pair of scissors, a thin screwdriver or similar, a hammer, a tin can and some electrical tape.
The inner barrel is fixed to the frame whereas the outer barrel is pulled back with the slide, which leads to interference due to gaps in the fitment. Reducing these gaps affects the accuracy of the pistol positively and is easily done. Please note that there could be done an even better job, but every decrease in gap sizes also leads to a increase in friction. Each user has to decide for himself, if a higher accuracy outweighs a higher likelyhood of malfunction.
Accuracy comparison and analysis is at the end of the video.

I've done this modification on my Swiss Arms 1911 today (I also tighten up the barrel bushing too), with no play. The 10 round groups have shrunk down from 1.5" to 0.5" @10 ft (still have 1-2 flyers) with Hornady Black Diamond BB! Thank you for sharing this.

Dunno if those diy alu shimming sheets are really needed for the inner barrel rear.. But you could have put some tape inside the barrel bushing to reduce the barrel front wiggle. Then also the aimpoint can be adjusted where wanted.
My KWC manufactured Umarex Colt M45 CQBP 1911 shot a bit low-left originally. So I added tape inside the barrel bushing - more on the left underside. Now the barrel is lifted more right and up - and the space around the barrel got reduced while at it.
It shoots now 2cm bullseyes from 6 metres - depending on the shooter of course and his daily caffeine dose..😁

I would really appreciate some input. I bought a Sig Sauer X-five "Cybergun" brand a few years back. It's been laying around in parts since, because of huge disappointment over the horrible "accuracy". I'm not sure I've ever understood why the barrel is made out of two parts, and why the inner one has to be able to slide inside the outer. Why is there an outer barrel?
I tried taping the front of the inner barrel, but apparently, this play has to be as delivered, or it won't work.
Anyway, on my gun, the main problem to begin with, is that the inner barrel "foot" doesn't sit tightly in the frame at all. So I would first have to fix that. It's quite a lot of work, involving adding a lot of epoxy resin & filing a fit.
Then also, the inner barrel is only fitted with a rubber bushing to the "foot", so it can wiggle - that may be different on your gun? Then, one would really have to tighten upp the "slide" (what's the correct name?) so that the sights repeatedly end upp in the same place for each shot.
I've found (H&N I think) copper plated leadballs with 4,49mm diameter. Regular BB's have much smaller diameter, ca 4,40mm, though they label them 4,5mm / .177 Wonder if that also could help? And finally, if one could modify the valve, for some more power, it would be nice. (I've tried several of Sig Sauer's own CO2 pistols. Despite rifled barrels, and using pellets, they really aren't any better. I've got a P320 lying around. Thought I might try to make the slide somewhat tighter. But on that one, the 30 round beltfeed magazine fails very often, so no good project material.)
(I have two CO2 replica guns that have OK accuracy. Umarex Colt SAA 7,5" rifled barrel, with 15mm 100% dependable spread at 10m, and the Umarex BB "Cowboy Rifle" underlever repeater with 20mm 100% dependable spread at 20m.)

Go for the Springfield mil spec 1911, I've done some research here and there and that one seems to be the best version of that gun and has the best accuracy out of the box. I just orderd one a few days ago so I hope I don't get a lemon or something.

@@watchbreaker1706 well, maybe. When I was going to get one I just was going to order the first one I found but it was out of stock. So in the meantime I looked up as many of these guns as I could find, read about them and watched videos on them and that one is the best one that I found. Maybe it's not? But thought I'd through that suggestion out there.

@@kyles5513 Ok. Umarex, Swiss Arms, Cybergun, etc… 1911 GBB are all made by KWC in the same factory and they all share same flaws. Only smaller and bigger lemons. Construction is a hybrid copy of Western Arms an Tokyo Marui GBB replicas adapted to 4,5mm. However no part is compatible with original designs. 🤣 Trigger group and other important parts is made of zinc alloy which is less then inappropriate material for this purpose. I sometimes buy them broken for cheap, repair and resell… if repair doesn’t require spare parts… because there is almost no spare parts on the market!🤣 I have managed to track down a Taiwanese company that makes 4,5mm GBB 1911s based on original TM construction… however I haven’t tested it yet, so cannot recommend.

Is it possible to change the barrel to a 6mm bb barrel

    • @urguplu82
      @urguplu82 5 років тому

You will need to change barrel. And drill barrel mount. Also you will need to modify load parts manually because you will not find them for 6mm. After barrell, loader etc is modified (no revert) you will still have a magazine problem. I don't know hot to solve that for this gun. Magazines are slim. And finally even after converting to 6mm you need to some how produce a way to increase pressure (current pressure is not enough for 6mm your bb will fall short and loose accuracy)
In conclusion do not attempt such a mod. If you really want to modify the ammunition why not work on a way to convert to pellet ?
Sorry for bad English have a nice day.

No idea whyvanyone would like to do that.
The rear loading nozzle (at least) and mag would need to be replaced also. Getting a whole upper slide and a 6mm co2 mag would be best - and then hope the lower receivers are in fact the same on both 4.5mm and 6mm versions..

      @@jamiefreedom8320 As an example.
My 4.5mm Cybergun/KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-FIVE broke it's slide. The lower receiver although is all good. Stripped the old lower and gave it a stainless steel finishing. The old 4.5mm pistol's lower is interchangeable with the 6mm airsoft version. But now I can have a 6mm airsoft X-FIVE in both all black - or a black-stainless steel dual-tone version.
Not all about just the caliber. Never bought 6mm alu BBs for myself - but I do have steel BBs in 6mm. Would wanna test some alu BBs also of course. 0.80g steel BBs though do deserve a bit more oomph behind - what actually is the reason my old 4.5mm X-FIVE's slide broke in two in the first place..
