Yikes !! - I was right to swerve this one right from the beginning Jim; but I have to admit, you took one for the 'team'. I do hope that you were able to settle the palate with something of quality after that. Entertaining as always - looking forward to the next 😉.
Thanks for covering this one and taking one for the team Jim, as it's not something I would buy. Have heard that this is the base malt for Johnny Walker Black, which I am not a fan of at all. Cheers
First and most important, this was very entertaining, Jim. I needed a good chuckle to start my Sunday. Thanks for the hard work you put into these reviews, and the misery you endure with some of them. I remember this as one I tried and found no reason to ever go there again. But, that price only shows you that at their scale Diageo could be putting out lots of their product at much lower prices. There is a lot of cost in the bottle, packaging, labels, and tumblers so I know you are right that this is a sub-twenty bottle. I also find it interesting they can make something so sweet. I find many bourbons too sweet and that is one driver for me to prefer Scotch. They have to be doing something in the process to leave that much sweetness in the juice. You are right some like that, but not me. Cheers, Jim.
Cheers Bud. As I said here...Cardhu is another "blending" malt for Diageo. As such...it's sweetness probably lends to a lot of those blends. It doesn't (for me anyway) work as a single malt though. It's not alone either 😉 Cheers my friend.
Thanks for the review Jim! It’s sad to see a whisky diminished like this, but then you think that this is a bestselling in Spain (beginners and brand fashion whisky treatment, as Macallan. No ones cares about the liquid, only the brand) Salud! 👍🏼🥃
When I first got in my whisky I absolutely loved the Cardhu 12 but soon after it got boring and one dimensional for me. I have tried a few Cardhus including the 15, 18 and a couple of cs special releases and they all give me the same feeling, decent but forgettable. Oh yeah the alternative you suggest is much much better even though I don't connect with the brand that much. Great video Jim, cheers 🥃
Even the 18 year old is 40%! Have the 12 (high ball territory) & 18 alongside higher abv offerings - distillery only bottling, 14 YO special release and the 21 YO.
😂😂 OMG, Jim. Say whatever, you want, but that Cardhu 12 yo is value whisky. They could even double the 38£ for just the whisky alone. Value. Whisky. What am I talking about? Well, watching you "taking one for the team" (a big one that is) and all the facial expressions, you put up is just hilarious and i.e. just soooo much value for the viewers. I certainly hope, your palate recovered pretty soon afterwards... well it should, considering the quick disappearing taste, I guess. So now, you just have to cope with the memories and erhm the rest of the bottle 😉😆 Oh my, thanks for making my Monday a good one buddy! Cheers!
