One of the best parts about whisky is there is no right or wrong! Our palates can all be so different, and as long as we enjoy it that's the most important!! Great video, congrats on the first year of reviews, looking forward to the next.
Thanks so much for the comment and kind words of encouragement, Owen. Much appreciated and glad you are enjoying the content. 100% whisky is a very subjective subject for sure, which is one of the reasons I find it so enjoyable. Cheers mate. Happy 2025!
I can honestly say, I wouldn't turn down a dram of ANY of these five! Excellent choices all round. Arran 10 and Glencadam 15 are new to me in 2024. Both are cracking bottles. Congratulations on getting through your first year of reviewing. I'm crossing fingers for you breaking a thousand in 2025! I very much enjoy your honesty and enthusiasm, and I hope you continue to do what you do. The interaction is also hugely appreciated. It's amazing how many people's eyes glaze over when one starts talking about geeky whisk(e)y stuff. I'm sure you know exactly what I mean...😉 Blooper lovers, UNITE! Fantastic that you left it in. Cheers Ty, and here's to the new year a'comin...🥃🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
lol. Omg. I had no idea that that blooper was left in during the Glenfarclas 105 spot! So glad a didn’t do anything too stupid between shoots lol. Guess it’s does give it a bit of character. Anyways. More time focus needed on my editing. Thanks so much for your comments and support of this fun little project I have undertaken this past year. Been a ton of fun and very rewarding to share my thoughts and opinions and glad to hear it’s resonating with others in the community. Lots more to come this year, hoping to do a little channel update/planning video when I officially hit my one year mark. Cheers M, I’ll talk to you next year (Dad Joke Alert) lol. All the best and thanks to you for being you.
Thanks for the kind words and the comment. I really hope the Sanaig CS makes it's way to my market here 9n Canada. Will definitely be checking it out! Cheers mate
I love the video, brother! There are many scotches on here that I currently own and can't wait to open. The Kilkohman and An Oa are also waiting for me to review and taste. Sadly, I can't get the Springbank 10 in Ontario at the LCBO at all. You have yourself a new sub, man. I'm looking forward to more content from you in the future.
Hey Man Thanks so much for the kind words and the Sub! Much Appreciated. I hear you, the LCBO is a royal pain for some bottles which is why I turn to shipping in from out west. Buddies and I do box splits to save on shipping. It’s a great resource to gain access to different bottles. Lots more to coming in 2025. Cheers Mate! FYI Subbed you back brother!
First time seeing one of your videos, but salute to you Tyler for you sharing your list for this year. I enjoy all of your picks. This year I visited Scotland including visiting almost all of the distilleries within Islay & Campbeltown. So I sampled a lot of scotches this year which would make formulating a list very difficult for me. I will say that my favorite whisky I had tasted this year was drawn direct from the Springbank casks which was a 24 yr old oloroso Hazelburn that absolutely blew me away. Unfortunately, I'll never taste that one again because that was the last of the cask so it was a bit heartbreaking. If you can get to Scotland, HIGHLY Recommend devoting 4 days to Campbeltown with the Barley to Bottle tour of Springbank. It was the absolute highlight of the entire 2 week trip out there. You can visit all the distilleries by foot and you will have access to cage bottles at Springbank. Now if we are talking about actual bottles we can get our hands on this year... I'd really have to think about it further. I do know off rip that this year's Laphroiag's Cairdeas 10 yr Cask Favourites, and Kilchoman's 100% Islay 14th edition (release 2024 and is 9 yrs old) would need to be included on my list. Both are still available in some shops. Also Kilchoman's Sanaig CASK STRETCH that was just recently released is another one.
Hi There. Thanks so much for tuning in and dropping a comment! Hopefully you subscribed as well. A visits to Scotland is definitely on my bucket list although I will likely need multiple trip to cover the ground I’d like to cover. Thank you for the recommendation and tips for touring Campeltown, I hope to make it there one day. Great list. I have yet to be able to locate a Cairdeas Cask Favs yet but have heard nothing but praise in regard to it. The Sanaig Cask Strength sounds epic too. Really need to find me a bottle. Thanks again for watching and dropping a comment. Cheers. Tyler from Seaway Whisky Wire.
@SeawayWhiskyWire you commented on a post I made on the FB group of Ontario whisky lovers, and noticed you have a YT channel. Very happy to have found a new channel with an Ontario perspective, cheers 🥃
Wonderful! OWLs is a great group! Everyone on there is pretty chill and open to conversations. Thanks for engaging me on FB and checking out the channel!
Respect to you on your whiskey journey. Were I to list my own top five: 5. Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024 4. Port Charlotte 10 3. Ardbeg Uigeadail 2. Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie 1. Bunnahabhain 12 Cask Strength Cheers!
Epic List Damien! I see you are a peat head like me, cheers to that. I hope to cover some of these this coming year. Port Charlotte and Cairdeas are one my hit list. Thanks for the comment and all the best. Cheers.
Oh boy, likewise my friend. Am still stoked that I was able to get a bottle for the bar. The Longrow i recently received for Christmas is awesome too. Cheers mate.
Availability then price of the Springbank range is a killer down here in Aus. It's a lovely drop but ... I can get a Ledaig 18yr for less $$.... I prefer the Glen Scotia range. Ardnamurchan... Can't wait to grab one. Got an open std abv ... and loving it. Yet to open my 3rd 105 . Can't see myself getting that Ardbeg. (love the others). Sanaig.. yep lovely. If you haven't yet... The Aberlour A'Bunadh and Isle of Raasay. Love the vid mate , looking forward to more, thanks, AL
Thank You Allan for the comment, the kind words and for sharing your thoughts. I agree, the availability of Springbank especially outside of the UK is a tough one which is why I grab them anytime I see them. Generally price isn’t an issue so long as you stick to the primary market. I WISH we could get Ledaig 18 in Canada, unfortunately the 10 and the annual Sinclair release is all I can get here. I must try some Glen Scotia this year, any recommendations on which expression to start with? Appreciate your comment and sharing your thoughts and feedback. Cheers mate. Happy New Year.
Thanks for the comment and checking out the video. I am hopeful that the Sanaig CS comes to my area or that I break down and get it brought in. Kilchoman is high on my favourite distillery list so I have no doubt that this release is amazing. Cheers.
Hi, great list. Think this will be top Scotches bought and tasted in 2024 for me 1. Springbank 15 2. Arran Sherry Cask 3. Glenfarclas 105 16 YO 4. Kilkerran 12 YO 5. Craigellachie 13 YO Cheers from Norway 😃
Excellent list Billy! Thanks for Sharing! Craigellachie 13 is one that I still must try, especially as a budget daily pour. Arran Sherry sounds awesome too just not as available in my area. Cheers to you sir in Norway. Thanks for tuning in and dropping a comment. From the Canadian Seaway, Tyler
What do you think of Aberlour18? I am a Scot from LA but I have tasted a lot, you are very great in your choices. A lot of my uncles drank whisky daily as their way of life in Glasgow. Thank you for the great video.
Thanks for the comment, Francis, and for tuning in. I have not yet tried the Aberlour 18, but I have had the 12, 14 A'bunadh and A'bunadh Alba. All decent pours. Cheers and please consider subscribing if you have not already done so. All the best.
Thanks for the comment and checking out the video. No, I am not in Que but am only about 45 mins to the border so I do frequent the SAQ. Cheers and all the best.
