I was in the market for an electric wheel for traveling and after many videos I decided on the Daedalus. Similar to you the shopping and updates were very confusing to me. But in November this year 2023, they had Sparrows in their shop. So a match was made! I’ve loved it ever since and like you I’ve spun more on it than on my treadle wheel. I had several little questions about the setup,I couldn’t find the manual, and the support was great! I am working to understand the break band and would love to see more videos on the use of the Sparrow and spinning in general with it. Thanks so much for this great video.

Lovely review. I’m so impressed with my Sparrow and purchased with the same considerations of quality etc. The product is outstanding but I think Daedalus shines because of their customer service and the community they have created around their product. It is a joy to belong. And…now I think a Magpie would be so much fun!

I grabbed a Sparrow in the post-Rhinebeck shop update, so didn’t have to stalk the Daedalus Sparrow regular updates. Otherwise, I would have followed your advice to just get on a wait list for a Starling. My experience echoes all the pro's you mentioned. Setting up and starting to spin is easy and intuitive if you have any wheel experience. Setting the take-up is easy and so responsive. The biggest benefit to my spinning so far is getting to slow everything down and take my time with practicing drafting. Also, the electric motor provides consistent speed that my feet may never be able to do, so I really can focus on one thing, like consistent drafting, at a time. I made three months of spinning progress in the first three days on my Sparrow. I am impressed with the overall quality and sturdiness, the company's quality control processes, and the immediacy of customer support. They outshine other 3-D printed wheels on all counts. I ordered the longer power cord and extra bobbins with my wheel, so I don't have the issues you mentioned; I agree that the longer cord is a must, even for having the controller beside the wheel. I might have not needed the extra bobbins given I rewind singles onto storage bobbins, but I like having the option of extra bobbins. Overall I think this is a great wheel and an amazing value. harpingJanet

I have a Sparrow also, it is my only wheel. I am currently on the list for a Starling because I want to make bigger skeins. I absolutely love the Sparrow for the ease of use & it is so easy to travel with. I have taken it with me many locations.

Thank you for the review. I have had my eye on the Daedalus for a few years but the price is currently out of my reach. I intend to create a plan to knit/spin and crochet my wish to one, one day. I have a mini eew nano to which I have just replaced the motor - it then worked perfectly for a day then the fiddling started to try and get it to draw up, to no avail….so just enjoying spinning on a Turkish spindle. One of my first purchases was a 3D printed Turkish spindle which works like a wiz and I love it … so maybe 3D is the way to go🤔…Hope you continue to have joy with your wheel🙂
