You saved the day! Just got my e-spinner and was so nervous about putting it together. Thank you your instructions covered everything and so clearly. Happy Spinning from Australia.
Its called lineal focus. And if you want to learn to spin Merino with elasticity instead of a dead lace yarn, be sure to watch Margaret Stove's "Spinning Merino for Lace Yarn (& elasticity).
My 50th birthday is almost here and I do believe this is what I will be getting, yay! I have a channel as well. I live with chronic illnesses and crocheting has been a blessing. I am couch/bed ridden a lot of the time and think I can do this on my couch! I am also just starting to learn to knit. Like I just started yesterday, lol. I’m really excited to spin my own yarn! I enjoyed your video. Thank you. 🤗
Hi, It's so nice to hear from you. Thank you for the feedback. You will LOVE your e-spinner, you can get into a flow state like no other, and it just feels so good. Yessss to learning how to knit! That too is so enjoyable. I completely understand when you say crocheting is a blessing, I feel that way about all of it. Take care, and enjoy! ~ Shiree
saintmoz I’m so glad you’re enjoying your e-spinner too! Happy spinning. If you feel like showing me what you’ve spun with it I’d love to see it, rehashfiber@outlook.com
I love this demo! My husband gave me this e spinner as an early Christmas gift - just arrived today! I am saving this video as a set up reference. I'd also like to thank your for what is by far the best demonstration of Navajo plying. I tried this several years ago on my regular spinning wheel after watching several demos and still couldn't get the hang of it. Your overhead view of how you manage the loop and movement of the yarn make it look so simple. I'm going to give it another try once I get the e spinner set up. Thanks so much!
Hi Linda, Thank you so much for the feedback, I appreciate it. You will have so much fun with your e-spinner, and good luck with the Navajo plying. Fiber art is the best! ~Shiree
I've been using my e spinner for a few months, but I've never really gotten into the habit of drafting straight from the roving. I find it easier (and more consistent) to separate a few slivers and draft them through a diz. That way they're already fluffy and equal thickness, and I only have to "feed" it to the spinner. I get really good thickness/twist consistency this way. But it does take a bit more preparation (and lots of breaks) and it's not as tactile. I still find the whole process very addicting though, especially when I'm watching TV. Time just flies!
I love my Majacraft wheel but sometimes, as I am disabled, I can't treadle. So, my Ashford e spinner bought a week ago is wonderful as I can still spin! I don't like speed when spinning, I prefer to spin slowly and enjoy the process of spinning very fine yarn around 60 wpi. I'm not a production spinner and enjoy drafting slowly and the whole process except plying!! That is why I have lots of singles waiting to be plyed!! So, the Ashford spinner caters for all spinners, those who want to spin like the wind and those of us who do not. I still prefer my treadle wheel though! I use the foot pedal on my knee and operate it by hand as you do. I find that easier than the switch on the machine or trying to find the pedal on the floor with painful legs and feet. Your machine is very noisy! Mine is very quiet.
I like to do a ply-back and I count. So for me it’s the learning curve and I’m awkward yet. I got my wheel last week and looking forward to get my consistent yarn as I do on my treadle wheel.
Hi ! I have the same e spinner and have a struggle with the tension when plying … I find I have to hold on to the yarn being plied ( outside of the spinner) and my hand even shakes while keeping hold of the yarn … the problem is I can’t reduce the tension it is already completely loose… I hope you understand.. the spring has no tension and it still pulls too much … I end up with yarn not enough plied … any idea what to do ? Thanks 🙏
My only advice is continue to make adjustments with tension and speed until you get the result you want. If you cant get to that point then get in person help from your local yarn store, fiber friend, or call The Woolery or other business that sells the e-spinner and ask for help. Best wishes. ~Shiree
I dont know of a variable orifice for E-spinner 2. However Ashford makes a Jumbo E-spinner with a super jumbo bobbin that holds over 3lb of yarn. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree

Hi! I just bought a Ashford spinner 3 and why does my bobbin doesn’t turn even at high speed only the flyer turns … I tried playing with the tension band and still no move ..
@@rehashfiber I figured it out lol I need to add fiber to the leader in order to get the bobbin turning … I was just checking it out and let the leader wind up /at the same time the bobbin didn’t turn … but as soon as you add fiber or yarn to the leader then it winds up … beginner’s journey !
Thank you for your video. :) What is the biggest size yarn you can spin with this e.g. Aran, chunky? Also can you do 3 ply with this if you buy an extra forth bobbin?
What is the average cost of a new one right now? Expect second hand ones get snapped up very quickly 😉 great tutorial. Getting used to Drop Spindle at the minute.
Mine was around $800 when I bought it. You’ll have to google what they’re going for now. You’re probably right about second hand ones going fast. It’s an awesome machine that I still use everyday. For me it’s been worth every dime. Good luck in your search. Hope you’re able to get one. ~Shiree
I wonder if you could help me. I have an e-spinner 3 and have been spinning since January 2020. I have been spinning Norweigan wool and have spun 1 bobbin and now want to do the 2nd bobbin. I am having terrible trouble trying to stop the fibre from breaking as it goes into the spinner. I am not familiar with the names of the parts but I set it up as you do on the video, I pre-draft the fibre and have the speed dial pointing at 12 o clock. I click the foot pedal to start and within a couple of rotations, the fibre breaks. I have tried spinning from the other end of the fibre and also tried the tension but nothing is improving. The fibre still breaks as it goes into the bobbin. Are you able to advise please...
Hi Susan. You have done well trying the different things. I have worked with very challenging fiber, cat fur, here’s what I can tell you. Cut the tension to the lowest it can go and still pull the fiber to the bobbin, then cut the speed as well, hold the fiber and let a lot of twist enter the fiber before releasing it to the bobbin. See if that works and then play around with those settings. Good luck and I’m always happy to help if there’s more. Happy spinning! ~ Shiree
Hello from Hamburg, Germany! Thank you for the detailed review! After watching a bunch of ashford e-spinner videos I come to the conclusion, that there must be something wrong with yours. The noise that it makes is not normal. it usually is quiet as a mouse. yours sounds like it doesnt rotate smoothly.

Wonderful. Excellent tutorial. I just wish they weren't so expensive.
Yes it is. I found it worth every dime spent though, as I've used it so much I've nearly worn it out. Very fun. Good luck. ~Shiree

The orafice is 1.5 cm/ 5/8", so the yarn can be that big to fit through it. I've done very thick yarn on it.
Como puedo conseguir una de colombia muy interesante bendiciones ycual es el costo Garcías
Puedes encontrarlo en www.wollery.com. Buena Suerte. ~Shiree
Can you do 5 weight yarn on it?
Honestly I haven't spun Bulky yarn on it. Thick worsted I have. You fill the bobbin faster and have to change out more. ~Shiree
Does it come with the oil too
Yes.

Can the orifice take art coils or thick and thin spinning?
Thin yes. Thick, only moderately so.
I’ve done art yarn and core spinning. I just kept it at a medium thickness.
