I am watching this a year later and am working on a swatch at the same time. I just purchased the EEW6 and thankfully that static issue was resolved in the current models. I was storing the orifice hook on the magnets and it flew off while spinning; they do now state not to store it there and I would wholeheartedly agree! It was scary. I am new to spinning having only started with drop spindles in January and it is now the end of March--I love both ways of spinning but for sure the best part for me is being able to ply on the eSpinner rather than on the drop spindles. Thanks for the comparisons--they were really interesting to see!
I’m a brand new spinner and loving the EEW6. It lets me focus on drafting, without worrying about pedaling or anything else. I find its quiet whir kind of soothing, and there’s no other noise. Personally I also really dig its slightly unpolished “maker” look, although wooden wheels are also beautiful in their own way. I haven’t encountered the halting issue, but then I’ve only used it 10 minutes at a time for a few weeks.
I sit knitting while watching your videos! I have had a go at spinning but I don't have wheel! I had a friend who's husband had a field of sheep and she used to spin the wool. As I am Welsh she thought I already knew how to spin but I'd never actually seen a real spinning wheel 😀Unfortunately we lost touch as I went abroad with my husband and we came back to Wales when his contract was over!!
I'm usually knitting when I watch your videos. I have a playlist I make up of what I want to watch for that day. Now that I also own an EEW 6.0 I'm probably going to be alternating between knitting, spinning and some new embroidery projects.
I have the Nano and added a floor switch as I've just come back to spinning after several years off and couldn't cope without stopping it frequently. I've just started the Nightshift shawl using handspun merino which I did on my Lendrum.
I am washing dishes, but when I am done, I am going to weave in the million ends on a crochet baby blanket. Maurice at Dreaming robots is fantastic! He really goes above and beyond to support his customers.
This game is scam 😭
Oh ! Thanks for showing the lazy Kate!!
I am getting a nano for Xmas..
And wow, a yarn ball holder too.
I'm not exactly making something, but this video got me through weaving the ends on my shawl
I am currently spinning cobweb yarn for a 3ply yarn to eventually weave a fine wrap (think of pashmina) for my sister.
Spinning so fine is TAKING FOREVER!!!!
Many thanks for sharing your experience 🙏 It’s really helped me make a decision 💜
I've seen this tool everywhere lately and I'm interested but I needed more information. This video is exactly what I needed. It also helped to see it with the Ashford. That's my current wheel and I really enjoy using it. I'm really excited about the counter and would look forward to getting one however I think I'll wait for the next version of the EEW. This would make a great travel wheel. Thank you so much for taking the time to walk us through it.
Just found this video. Very useful demonstration, thank you! I'm watching and spinning on my new EEW 2.0. There was one point where you moved the front hook (nearest the orifice) so that the yarn was rubbing on the edge of the bobbin but that's an easy oversight when you're concentrating on other things. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I did some cutting and pinning for a home sewing project while watching this!
I was frogging a mohair shawl, stitch by stitch. And thank you for the espinner demonstration, ENJOY!
You made me giggle! I am crocheting a cotton shawl while watching your video. I love the EEW 6. I have spun 2 bobbins and plyed them into 1 skein! I got all 4 ounces on that plyed bobbin! I love this e-spinner!
I am currently crocheting the granny Infinity lap throw as a Christmas 🎁
I'm currently working on the "Only Good Vibes" shawl. It's a difficult knit, in that it takes a lot of attention and patience. It's lace in a finnicky boucle. But I'm finding the slow pace really enjoyable.
Excellent video, thanks. 🥰 I was spinning & weaving in the mid-late 80’s & early 90’s stopped after breaking an elbow & couldn’t get back. I’m interested in spinning again now, and like the electric spinner, noisier than the Lendrum, but certainly smaller and in some ways easier. No more counting foot pumps before releasing yarn, tho I wonder about counting seconds and rpm’s to get an even yarn…😅
I just learned to spin on a Turkish drop spindle
I'm spinning on my EEW6 right now. It's not everyone that is having the stopping issue. I think Maurice said that is happening more to people who live in more dry climates. I live in a humid state...NC so I haven't had any issues. I still use my Nano and my regular wheels all the time but I've really been enjoying the 6 for the several weeks I've had it. Maurice really thought of everything.
Oh great! Maybe that’s why it hasn’t been super noticeable for me too.. we are in the Pacific Northwest which has more moisture in the air. Interesting!
I live in a dry climate, is it a big enough issue to dissuade me from purchasing it?
I’m knitting the Super Simple Summer Sweater with some slub yarn and fingering. The slub looks just like the funky yarn you were spinning! I took a Turkish Spindle class this spring but have not been practicing! I’m tempted to get a Nano.
I’m working on a cotton tee while I’m watching this.
Very nice video, thank you!
I love my Ashford espinner 3!
Thanks for this video. I've been thinking about getting the EEW6 and this is helping me decide.
Btw, I love your sweater!
I'm finishing my first ever peasant heel :) so excited to see how it turns out!
Thank you for all you do! I watch every Friday while getting my evening knitting in. I've never tried an espinner, but am super curious after watching the opening and now this review!
Very helpful video!
I am crocheting tiny squares using 60 colours, for a ELMAR the Elephant afghan.
My squares are compact (no chains on the side, only one in the corner) in clusters of 3DC.
Reversing each row.
3 rows per square.
4mm hook.
Dk yarn.
I am knitting a chevron blanket for my daughter while watching. I have a peacock tui single drive wheel but have my EEW 6 ordered and am patiently waiting :)
Not always crafting... I'm building factories in Satisfactory while watching. :D
I'm spinning!
I saw somewhere to make the yarn guides symmetrical on the flyer for the Dreaming Robots wheels for them to be more quiet.
Knitting, but paused enough to order this e spinner!
So interested in learning how to spin. I am knitting while watching this
I’m spinning some dyed Polwarth top I picked up at my local yarn shop. Planning on making a Flax light sweater for my grandson.
I’m knitting the front of my sweater, and I find this very interesting.
Knitting second sock of a pair for my daughter’s birthday :)
Crocheting a craft bag!
I’m spinning on my EEW6 too while you’re on
im knitting the first sleeve on a one color brioche cardigan! halfway thru the decreases by this point
Thanks, I have doing drop spinning for about 2 years now, and although I love it, it appeals to me to speed things up and cost is a factor for me. I will look farther into your classes.
wish had these in uk
Spinning some Clun Forest from Solitude Wool on my EEW 6.0.
Lol, I am spinning on my EEW 6 as I watch.
Thanks!
crocheting a baby snuggy blanket because my back cant take sitting at the espinner any more and the cord wont go all the way to the sofa
Knitting!!!! HAHAHA! Knitting a mitten to be exact LOL
Crocheting an blanket for Grandbaby
☺️
I am making sourdough as I watch! :D
Yes!!! The best! 🙌
i'm weaving a hand towel while watching
Knitting a hat and wanting to skip out on groceries this month so I can get the EEW 6!
I’m spinning score for my corespinning made from my Icelandic fleece
Knitting a shawl!
Knitting my socks and watch your video
Not into being shocked … I do have the Ashford. I thought the 6 would good to travel with.
I got the Nano a while back and I just haven't gotten the knack for it. I'm hoping to mess around agin with it and get the tension right. I know it has to be user error because I have watched some many videos on the wheel and everyone seems to have a great time with it. I love how the 6 comes with a foot pedal. I really with the nano came with that as well. So smart!
You can attach a foot switch to the usb cord.....they make them for Christmas tree lights and other decorative strings of lights. The Nano can be a bit finicky to adjust....but once you get the feel of it, it's a delight!
@@freshwaterwi I have tried to do a little bit a of research about adding a foot pedal. Would it be the kind with just wires to attach? I’d really love to have this as an options for sure.
I love my Rose I just finished off a SG Polly/Silk braid and now working on some pure alpaca. I might get the Rose for going to the office/work trips...2019 I found out that wooden circular knitting needles counted as packing heat at an American baseball game. Spinning might be a better fit 😅
That sounds like so much fun, to bring your spinning with you to the game! Nice way to spend a day!
I’m riding my stationary bike while watching this interesting video.
Same! A different kind of spinning 😆
Yes, i am knitting the flax sweater by tincanknits.
e spinner was hidden inside the toy spinner facing down
I am curious in trying an e-spinner, on which to learn to spin. I don't like constantly having to twirl the spindle with one hand while drawing out the wool with the other. Thank you for all the information you gave along with the demo.
I want one and I've just checked they are out of stock!! I like knitting my own socks and would like to spin the wool for them myself, so this spinner would be good for me. Also I would like to make a small bedside rug with my wool from my practice spinning -it will surely continue being lumpy for a while yet, which I can put to good use lol
I wasn't doing anything as I'm about to go to sleep after watching. Having tea and oatcakes.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video thank you so much.
As you may already know, these will be back in stock in November of 2022 and you can get notice of when by signing up for Dreaming Robots' newsletter...Maurice says there is no waiting list, but there will be enough for all the people who want one...
My fiber gets getting super twisted up on itself right before the orifice on my EEW 6. I've changed out fibers, settings, and leader threads, and nothing is helping. So now my EEW 6 is sitting on a shelf thinking about what it's done.
Hmmm that sounds so frustrating… could it be something to do with the brake tension?
When comparing the sound of the e-spinners -- its not exactly a fair comparison. Each bobbin has yarn in a different location on the bobbin (its not consistent from machine to machine), there is a different amount of thread/yarn on each bobbin (and looks to be different weight/spun type, so each bobbin weight is not comparable from machine to machine), different tension (no way to have consistent tension between each machine, so is the sound from tension or lack of tension)...just a thought :)
I"ve been using the EEW6 and I find it to be very quiet. I spin when we are sitting watching movies etc and none of us hears it at all. the sounds that it does make are medium-low frequency.
Good points. I think minute differences in the 3D-printing process that creates the EEW bobbins may also affect the noise level or lack thereof. I got myself a 6.0 for my May birthday (what? I run a fiber-arts business! it's a claimable expense! :-)). My baby spun the first two bobbins practically soundlessly; the third and current one knocks a bit. NBD, as I can still hear the rescued feral kittens in the next room over what noise there is ...!
Crafting a leather legal folio while I watch.
I am knitting on a lacy baby blanket as I watch. I am enjoying spinning on my EEW 6 and have encountered the same stopping issue and like you I am not that bothered by it as its just a matter of hitting the switch to get started again. I also have the nano and I found that it got hot quickly when spinning but still a great little wheel. I agree the lazy kate is genius.
Your Nano shouldn't be knocking....I've been using mine for more than a year and don't have anything like that sound. There are undoubtedly hacks to silence that. I'm also surprised at the sound from your EEW 6....mine is absolutely silent. With the flyer a blur while turning, the only way to "tell" it's running if the breeze coming off the flyer.
Making a Minecraft sock while I watch
Unfortunately I can't find an e spinner to buy. I broke my wrist two weeks ago and can't knit.😒
You can find them on Facebook sometimes. I hope you are recovering okay
Knitting socks
Why not just always have a larger orifice? That is, what's the advantage to metering down the orifice when not making thick yarn?
True true. I just like having the yarn not rattling around the orifice as much… I feel like it’s easier on the yarn and especially if you are spinning a fine yarn, it could be more gentle on it.
I like your knitted top. Would you share the pattern name?
Thanks Allison, that is the Navelli Tee, designed by Caitlin Hunter 💗
I am making a salad and enjoying lunch with you.

Your Nano is noisy compared to mine. I wonder why.
I was trying to figure that out too. Maybe it just needed some oil around the bobbin shaft. I switched to a new bobbin for this video and couldn't get rid of that rattling sound on wind on.
Knitting a sock. Are there people who watch UA-cam while not knitting?
