I have a Norwegian, Saxony and eel. They all do their special thing but I’d think the eel was my fave which is so weird since I love the traditional/non electric look!! I spin wool for sock and weaving, cotton for rags. I couldn’t comment on your video content since it isn’t closed captioned. Anyways stay cool literally and figuratively:)
My family bought me a 2nd hand Ashford Traveller for Mother’s Day this year. I hadn’t spun anything for over 20 years and was never an expert. I love the old fashioned feel, flexibility and was blown away by how easy this wheel was to use as an essentially novice spinner. It’s scotch tension and single treadle. By the way I love how practical your channel is. You’ve helped me a lot as I fumble my way through 🥰
Right now my dream wheel is the lendrum castle double treadle. That is if I got a new one. Right now I have a castle Cassandra double treadle. My sister got it for me for Christmas one year. The primary reason was price and similarity to the lendrum. Adjustable height on it was another factor and working with Dave, the builder of the wheel, was incredible. Once I got it home I made a couple adjustments. One was reducing the orifice size and adding more hooks to stop the lumps was another. The Cassandra and I have become one in tandem over the he years. I love it. I would start this way again and again.
My Ashford traveler was given to me by a stranger at a craft fair. She said she never used it and wanted it to be used. I love spinning BFL for my 12 year old granddaughter to loom knit hats with. Passing on the love of fiber.
I have 3 wheels. My first one I dreamt the night before I was going to find a wheel. My sister and I were garage sale and I had just told her about my dream. Minutes later, there she was!!! An Ashford Traveller. She is great. Then, at my guild, a few years later, I tried a Majacraft Rose. Tell in love! Finally, always wanted to try a saxony. Found an Ashford Traditional on Craig's List. Each one of my wheels has her own personality. I love them all!
I am a new spinner. Started with a spindle last Sept learning at a knitting retreat. In January I was given a 30 year old Schacht Matchless from someone who was downsizing and wanted it to go to a good home. 💕 Congrats on 2,000 subscribers! I just found your podcast about a month ago and have enjoyed watching you. Thanks for sharing your spinning knowledge with us newbies!
I just received my first spinning wheel from my parents for my 50th birthday! I received a Kromski Prelude and I absolutely love it! It took me about a week to work the treadle and tension enough to spin and I am spinning my first roving. Eventually I would like to raise my own fiber animals or grow flax and spin linen. But for now I will enjoy spinning fiber for my crochet and knit projects. Thank you for your videos! They have been so helpful in getting starting and problem solving! And congrats on reaching 2000 subscribers!
I am Joes spouse and I have spun years ago, gave it up for some time, sold my traditional wheel and accessories and now am currently waiting for a Kromski Minstrel (unfinished) wheel with a jumbo flyer, (on back order till next month!) I would like to be able to spin fine, medium and craft wool. I am inspired about adding beads and other adornments from watching your great you tube tutorials, I have learned so much watching them! Thank You. :)
My dream spinning wheele is a Ashford Elisabeth 2! I am a avid crocheter and am making my dream fiber bunny rabbitry come true. I have a few beautiful English Angoras and Gient Angoras. I can't wait to start spinning their beautiful fiber and have read this wheele works best for them and their very fine wool 🥰 Excited to start spinning and am so lucky to finally do so💖 Thank you for all your videos your an inspiration!
I have a classic Ashford. My favorite part of it is the story of how we met. I saw her at a garage sale and left her there, as I did not spin at the time. Went home and mentioned to my husband the spinning wheel I did not get. It cost $5. He told me to go back and buy it for decoration. I bicycled back to that house and the wheel was put away and the people were leaving (moving out). They dug out the wheel again and even a batt of wool they had just thrown into a garbage dumpster. I got the wheel and tried a few times to learn to spin but never somehow learned. However, I am at it again, and will persevere! Thanks Eve for inspiring me!
I've had my Ashford Kiwi 3 for 15 months and I've only been spinning for a little over 2 years. My Kiwi is my first and only wheel; it's the only wheel I've really spun on. I absolutely love it though! It was so easy to learn on, and it's allowed me to grow as a spinner. I've never felt limited by it and it lets me spin the kind of yarn I want to make and knit with. I feel completely in tune with my Kiwi and I don't think I could ever part with it. I don't feel a need to get another wheel, but I would consider getting a double drive wheel someday if I came across a good deal. Congrats on 2K subscribers! I love your channel, and your cheery, happy personality is the best. It really brightens my day!
Hi Deanna, I just bought a Kiwi 3. I first took a quick class and worked on a Kiwi 2. I didn’t pay attention from lack of knowledge and lack of research, but the flyer is different and it was an impulse buy, which I usually don’t do. It doesn’t have hooks and it is really hard to slide the springs up and down the rod. Did you happen to put any grease on the metal rods? I have arthritis in my thumb joint and I find when I pinch it together, it hurts my hand. Also, did you happen to buy the accessory flyer to make art yarn? I want to make art yarn, so I should have bought the Lendrum Original complete package...much better deal for a wide variety of spinning...but they unfortunately don’t have the hooks on the flyer either. I can’t figure out why the flyer design was ever changed from the hooks...must be a good reason? Anyway, happy spinning to you! I just started and there is so much to learn. I am so glad I found JillianEve!
@@traceytowner176 Hi Tracy! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the sliding hooks on your wheel. I've never oiled the arms of my flyer and I'm not sure if that would help or hurt something. I remember when I first got my wheel, the springs were a bit stiff and harder to move, but over time they've loosened up. You could try taking the sliding hooks off the flyer arms and (if you can) maybe try squeezing them together to loosen the springs a bit to make it easier to slide them up and down the arms. Or maybe you could try using one of those tools that help open bottles; that might help to pinch the springs together and move them. I think sliding hooks have become quite popular since they allow people to fill their bobbins more evenly. But now see how it can cause trouble for people. I hope there might still be a way for you to use your wheel without causing yourself pain. If not, I've heard reselling a wheel could get you most of your money back. Since I only knit and crochet (no weaving yet), I haven't had a desire to make art/textured yarns, but I did get the super flyer thinking I would use it for plying. But I found that it actually has an Irish tension (tensioned over the flyer orifice and drive band on the bobbin), which just isn't for me. If you want to make art/textured yarn though, I bet it would definitely be a nice accessory. Sorry for such a long reply and I hope some of that was helpful!
@@deannagreenwood7257 Thank you so much Deanna. Hopefully they will loosen with time. I would love to get into art yarns and weaving for textured wall hangings...down the road if it is at all possible. I also knit and crochet and I am looking forward to the day I can spin a fairly consistent ply!
My dream is to be able to spin on the first antique wheel I bought over 40 years ago. It was a double flyer and one flyer was missing. It is currently at the restoration shop while I am healing from am ankle replacement! It will hopefully help make my rehab a little more fun, with yarn as a bonus!
Just started , learning about spinning. I bought a drop spindal . Once I get better ,and learn more about spinning wheels I was thinking about getting ,an Ashford kiwi spinning wheel 3.
I love my Ashford traveler. Gifted to me by my cousin who started me down the rabbit hole! I just ordered a Heavenly Handspinnuing e spinner. I am spinning yarn to to make the night shift!
I have 4 wheels a e spinner, a antique wheel, Ashford traditional and my first and most loved a Ashford kiwi. I painted my kiwi wheel a duck egg blue and painted daisy's around it, although a none expensive wheel it is by far my most used and loved. I also upgraded it with the super fast whorl and also the jumbo flyer. I have created many of skeins on it and will continue to use and enjoy for many years I'm sure.
I bought a schacht ladybug spinning wheel a decade ago. I was a pretty plain jane spinner for most of that time. I used the settings that it started with, like the default drive method and whorl. It was so relaxing and I loved how chill it felt, and I could mostly customize my knitted projects which was amazing. My favorite scarf was made with it. Then I got arthritis and I couldn't spin anymore, for about 5 years. This year my symptoms are finally being treated and I'm so excited to get back to it as a more mature and experimental crafter! I have already bought the stuff to try double drive and all that it entails. I also have several bins full of fibre, as well as one with a whole baby alpaca fleece that I'm going to bust open!
My husband just bought me my first wheel for my birthday a few months ago. It is a Kiwi 3 and I love it. I have always wanted to learn how to spin as I have had 4-H lambs my whole life and love their wool. I have been shearing my children's sheep the last few years and hated throwing away the wool so I saved it this year and have started to spin it. Not sure what kind of yarn I will get but am super excited to find out. I love watching your channel!
I have the Ashford Kiwi 3. I am a new spinner and I am really enjoying it! I raise sheep so I am learning to process the wool as well as spin it. Thank you for your easy to understand tutorials! I am learning so much! 😊
I love my Ashford Traditional! I named her Grace after my grandmother. She and I understand each other. She’s so user friendly. But, I have to admit, the Kromski Polonaise makes me drool. So beautiful!
Hi there! I just startex spinning in a drop spindle I bought off Amazon Homemade. I'm very new, but I'm already in love! I've been eyeing small, portable wheels since I rent an apartment and don't have much room, but I also want to be able to take my wheel with me, both to see my family and take part in LARP events. It would be very in the period to have a wheel and be spinning my yarn! I prefer thinner yarns, so I would want a wheel that allows me to easily do that. I love what you do, and I always stop whatever I'm doing to watch your new uploads right away. Thank you for all you do!
I love that I have a spinning wheel. But honestly am not loving that I struggle with learning it. It is an Ashford wheel and is beautiful. I raise Alpacas and hope to be able to spin the fiber. Thank you so much for your very helpful videos and cheerful personality. I enjoy them very much.
I love spinning on my Ashford Elizabeth 2. It can spin just about anything! I enjoy spinning big fluffy batts. I love seeing all the colors change into beautiful combinations.
What I love about my spinning wheel is that I own a spinning wheel. 😆 I've been wanting one for 20 years since I learned how to spin in school. Someone I met online was so nice to give me her old one she didn't use anymore. She named the wheel Mariechen (Little Mary). Mary is an antique wheel and she isn't in the bedt condition, but I worked around her problems. Now I spend hours and hours spinning and love it so so much. I'm so glad Mariechen found a new home at my place.
I recently purchased an Ashford Kiwi 3 and her name is Jinx. I love the double treadle feature. I have neuropathy in my feet and legs. Spinning is a challenge sometimes but i kind of see it as therapy, so spinning is a win win! My dream wheel is an Ashford Traditional double drive. I’m not ready to attempt to restore an antique wheel but I would be happy with a used one at some point! I want to learn to spin all the things. Lol I love your videos and have learned so much from them! Thanks for doing what you do!
I have the ashford kiwi. I’m new to spinning so I haven’t tried anything else so I will say this is my dream wheel so far! Working on technique is my focus right now. Love your channel.
I love my Ashford traditional wheel to spin, I bought it second hand and learnt how to spin watching UA-cam videos like yours. It had some missing parts but I was able to buy spares from Ashford. I have also got an Ashford e-spinner 3 but so far I have only used it for plying, I have still gone back to my traditional to spin. Love your videos.
I have been so excited for this video. I was gifted with four large totes of llama and Dorset bats. I think a wheel is exactly what I need. I like both Saxony and Castle wheels. I lean towards double treadle.
My grandmother used to have an old Singer spinning wheel, but I didn't know it was spinner til I was older because it ended up becoming an everyday desk lol. I've wanted to try spinning for a while, but just haven't... I think I'd want to spin fractal yarn. It's so pretty to me!
As far as e-spinners go, I have a Fricke with Woolee winder and it works fantastic! I’ve used it for singles, but typically leave it available for plying, as it has the jumbo bobbins.
My favorite wheel to spin on is the single treadle Schacht Matchless. It is the first wheel that I got and it is still a dream to spin on. I have spun on lots (and I mean LOTS) of spinning wheels over the years and I still absolutely love my Matchless. I love it because of the very large treadle that it has. Some people think that the single treadle limits you in the way you can position yourself when you are spinning and for most spinning wheels (other than the electrics) that’s so true. Not so for the Matchless because of the wide single treadle. I can change the angle of my body in relation to the wheel, change which foot I am spinning with (or use both feet at once!) all depending on how I am feeling at any particular time. This flexibility has allowed me to spin for longer periods of time because I am not having to keep my body aligned in any specific way like most wheels need you to do (both single and double treadle wheels). This allows for adjustments with hips, knees, feet and ankles allowing me to spin even if my Fibromyalgia has flared up in one part of me. The downside of this is that spinning on my Matchless can easily become a big black hole for time and I do actually have to set a timer sometimes to remind me to either take a break or to stop spinning (to eat or go to bed for example!😉). While I enjoy spinning on many other wheels, my Matchless is still my absolute favorite.
I really appreciate knowing about the comfort of the Matchless! I think the Matchless might be my dream wheel if I could get another one. But my little flock of misfits is about all I have space for. 💕
I just started weaving which has lead me down the path to spinning! I've been researching the 'equipment' needed and I think I should start with a drop spindle to make sure I like the process & result before I invest. Thanks for all the pointers of what to look for if buying used!
I am loving my previously loved Ashford Traditional single drive wheel I received from my boyfriend on Mother's Day. It is my first wheel and I am saving up for an Ashford Traveller. I like that some Ashford accessories can be used on multiple wheels. My default yarn is tending towards Aran and Worsted weight.
Congrats on 2K +! I have the first Kiwi from Ashford and only just really started using it this past 8 months. I love it and take it everywhere with me! I still consider myself a beginner and want to learn more how to differentiate between woolen and worsted draws, plus how to ply better. Your videos help a lot and I appreciate all the good advice and lessons, thank you!
I have just started spinning! I love that it is easy to buy accessories for my wheel that allow me to spin many different yarns. I like to spin fractal yarn.
I've been spinning on a drop spindle and have been actively looking for a spinning wheel and I'm leaning toward a Lendrum. I like the scotch tension and the accessories that are available for it. I'm a knitter and a weaver and want to spin mostly worsted weight wool. Your video was very helpful!
I just got a nano eel wheel second hand a few weeks ago. I only just started spinning so that's my first week. I forsee myself spinning fingering to worsted weight yarns. I'm new to your channel so if you dont have one already, I would LOVE to see a video about traveling and moving with a manual spinning wheel.
What I love about my spinning wheel: My main wheel is a Kromski Fantasia that I finished myself. I love this wheel! It is so easy to use, is such a fluid and smooth wheel and has a large range of whorl sizes that can be swapped out VERY easily! I also have the jumbo bobbin and it also swaps out in a second! It is a true workhorse and is quite affordable! I also loved finishing it because I like woodwork, but it comes in lovely factory finishes as well. It's less well known, but I find it very similar to spin to a Schacht Ladybug. I actually tried them side by side and they were almost the same feel! But the magnetic flyer was the tipping point for me. I also like spinning in double drive and have an Ashford traditional setup this way -- unfortunately I spin right hand forward and this is a left side flyer wheel, so my dream wheel (at least at this moment in time) is a double drive wheel with a right side flyer like a schacht reeves, lendrum saxony, or majacraft aura. I know the flatiron comes with an optional right side flyer, but I'm a sucker for the pretty woodwork. I spin: lots of stuff! currently woolen sweater yarn in sport and DK 3 ply is my default.
I inherited my spinning wheel. Apparently, it was made by a relative who liked to do wood working. I guess he called it a four seasons spinning wheel. I've had it for a while but it's been a bit of a struggle to actually start using it. I just found your channel and your videos are inspiring so I'm going to give it another try!
My dream wheel is either the Lendrum saxony or the Kromski Polonaise...I probably spelled that horribly. I’m trying really hard to learn support spindling but it’s super tough. I’ll keep at it though! I am in love love love with woolen spinning and all natural fibers, grays creams, blacks, and browns. In my limited experience Shetland has my heart.
I'm a new spinner, but I took the jump and got a used saxony style Kromski Symphony, which I absolutely love! And then for a graduation present from university I was given a Kromski Sonata which is a modern folding travel wheel. So far I've been spinning fingering weight blends, including alpaca and merino. I love the ability to take my Sonata anywhere I might go, but my Symphony holds my heart because my Cinderella wheel is smooth as can be and practically spins itself. I've been learning completely online, and your videos have been such a large part of my learning process. I can't thank you enough for all the knowledge you share, it's been a tough learning curve but you've been a huge help.
I recently discovered spinning and started with a beginner drop spindle one and got interested on the turkish spindle. would love a traditional wheel some day. Thank you for the opportunity.
I currently purchased an Ashford e-spinner. I was working with a Louet but was experiencing so many leg/back pains due to prior injuries. I now have the flexibility to sit comfortably to spin without injuring my legs and back from the treaddling. Right now I’m experimenting with my spinning, but I prefer spinning fine yarns. Thank you for such wonderful videos! You do a great job, keep it up!!!!
I Just finished spinning a pound of BFL on my new Schacht Matchless and love it, so easy to adjust the uptake of yarn. Still trying to learn more about consistency of twist and diameter of yarn. Waiting for new fleece to come in the mail.🐌
I got a nano electric about 4-5 months ago. Just don't have the concept and can't get the tension set right. I've wanted a spinning wheel for over 5 yrs now. In June I found a Louet S 10, I had never even sat at a spinning wheel! I saw Iris Rose and fell in love, the lady that had her, wanted her dream electric spinning machine. My Iris Rose is painted in many colors, as she was used by previous owner to get attention at fiber festivals! She has flowers all over her, she is pink, blue, black, yellow, and some orange, along with some copper. She called to me and now she is mine. I'm a very newbie and am definitely loving it!😁 I'm not concerned about the weight I'm spinning right now just trying to get a consistent spin right now, then will try to spin sport to lace weight.
I love my EEW Nano as I am able to spin lace weight and ply it to make socks. My Dream wheel would be the Spinolution Electric Firefly to spin all different weight yarns including Art Yarns. Love your videos! You helped me to focus on loosening my firm grip to a much lighter touch with my drafting hand and consistency with my rhythm leading hand to the orifice. Thank you!
Jillian thank you for this post. It was incredibly helpful. I have just purchased a second hand Ashford traditional spinning wheel and am excited to get started spinning my own yarn to knit. It is something I have wanted to try for many years. To start with I want to spin my own wool, but eventually I would love to start combining a variety of natural fibres to create colourful one off yarns for my knitting and textile projects.
I love my Ashford Traveler. It was a gift from a dear friend who taught me to wheel spin when she bought her 4th wheel. At some point I would love an Ashford Joy 2 so I could take it with me when I travel.
I've been using drop spindles for about ten years now and I love it. I have a nice collection of top whorls and bottom whorls, but my favorites are my Turkish spindles. I ordered an EEW Nano 1.1 and it was just delivered yesterday. I'm in love with it already. I've almost filled up three bobbins with varying degrees of success!
I just got my electric eel wheel nano last week. I REALLY love it! Been spinning some natural brown merino on it in fingering weight form. I plan on making a nice warm shawl for my mother. I would love to spin silk next for my continued learning experience! :D
I had an Ashford jumbo country spinning wheel and absolutely loved it what I loved most about it was I could spin really bulky yarn but unfortunately my hip got to the stage where I just couldnt treadle it anymore without suffering a lot of pain afterwards so I finally decided I would have to sell it 😢 I didn’t spin for quite a few years but just recently I decided to buy an Ashford E Spinner so now I am teaching myself to use it to make art yarn which is something new for me I am slowly getting there and loving it I am watching lots & lots of Videos I have fallen love with art yarn 💖💖
I really appreciate this advice! I do have issues with pain in different areas and I find I do need to continually change positions, depending on what’s hurting! 😅
Love your videos! I have a Spinolution Echo spinning wheel and I absolutely love it! I had been learning on my daughter's Trditional and just wasn't improving. Once I got my Echo I started seeing improvement right off. It is so easy to use and I love that I don't have to feed the leader through the orifice now. My favorite fibers to spin are locks and silk sari. Congrats on 2,000 subscribers!!
I'm an experienced knitter who also crochets who just started spinning during the pandemic on a 3D printed turkish spindle. I can't wait to try new fibers and get better. One of my university professors actually helped me learn by teaching me on zoom! I would love to try the electric eel, as it takes up very little space. I've tried cheviot and corriedale and can't wait to try merino and silk.
I have a Spinolution echo, I love the ease of spinning with it. I am improving my lace weight spinning. I also have a couple of drop spindles. I currently have a merino tencel blend I am working with and a merino silk blend. Both are currently at a 40 wpi as a single ply.
Thank you for this video! Talk about great timing. I'm seriously thinking about buying my first spinning wheel - using a drop spindle right now - and this video tells me what to consider. Thanks for everything you do. I'm really learning a lot from you!
Just got my first wheel yesterday. It is an Ashford Traditional and I am looking forward to spinning fleece from my own sheep. Your excellent video for beginners got me started - thank you - but I have a lot of practising to do!
I've got an EEW nano and an older Ashford Elizabeth (early '80s). I love the aesthetics of the Elizabeth and the options for both SD and DD. The nano is delightfully portable and flexible (spinning in bed on a bad day ftw). I mostly spin fingering-DK weight, typically in medium wools.
I have a small e-spinner, from Electric Eel Wheel and I love it! I can spin wherever I want and it's great for lace-type yarn. Thank you for all those informations, your videos are inspiring!
I recently got a ashford kiwi 2 as a graduation gift, so I am very new to spinning. As a beginner, I find that it is an easy wheel to use and it allows me to create different types of yarn very easily.
I bought an antique dukabor wheel. It was beautiful. The woman wouldn't let me buy it unless it sung to me. It did. So happy, it spins beautiful and is gorgeous.
Just bought a new to me Ashford Traditional from 1985. It's easy to use and more flexible for spinning than my one-off original purchase. I love them both but need a bigger house😁
Congratulations on 2k!! I'm obsessed with all things yarn. I have just bought my first dropspindle and I'm so excited to try it :) I have been watching your dropspindle tutorial which helps loads :)) Thank you for your amazing UA-cam videos.
My one and only wheel (my fiber heart) is an Ashford Traveller that my family & I went on a 17-hour road trip to pick up, a few years ago. I love spinning alpaca and various other fibers with it. I’m also trying to get more into spindle spinning!
I am just starting spinning on a spindle. I am starting to look at second hand wheels. I am looking at an antique wheel that looks affordable... but I am a bit scared of buying it after what I hear in your video. I am glad to be part of these new subscribers you got recently! I found your videos very useful.
I fell in love and ordered last week my first spinning wheel. It is a Kromski Minstrel. It looks so beautiful. I really look forward to receiving it and learning to use it. My main goal would be to make yarn out of the 3 raw fleeces I have been given by a friend. At least, I am hoping by the end of these 3 fleeces, I won't be a complete beginner anymore.
I’m very new to spinning. I bought a Kromski Sonata and what I like about this wheel is that it is portable and has options to upgrade with different flyers. I enjoy your videos!
I love my Louet and my Ashford-both have unique features that help me as a beginner. I am way to new to understand what my dream wheel would be. I would love to learn how to use a spindle!
I love that my spinning wheel was bought all intact with the original pieces from the 1970s in Germany not far from where my great grandparents lived. I’m super excited to spin an alpaca blanket (using your video series) for the first time from my brothers alpacas!
Thank you for the awesome event. I am so excited! I tried spinning on a wheel for the first time back in college more than 30 years ago and produced a lumpy irregular ball of yarn out of black fleece. I struggled the whole time unable to understand what I was doing, but only reacting to the fast spinning wheel driven by my fast uncontrollable treading. I realize now that the ugly lumpy ball of yarn could pass as an Art Yarn, but back then, I was mortified by such pitiful outcome. A decade ago, I found a CPW at a local flea market. It stunk of cigarettes smoke and needed a good cleaning with warm water and vinegar solution and couple weeks of air drying. It had a damaged flier primitively repaired. Once I had it repaired properly and had extra bobbins made, I was able to take time and learn to spin on it. My other wheel is a Luët and I do intend on customizing the wheel with colorful design someday soon. I am a flight attendant, so I have done “Ply on the Fly” while flying many a time, as I often travel carrying my drop spindles and knitting supplies. Lately, I am considering purchasing a compact and light e-spinner to suit my life style. I think Electric Eel Nano e-spinner might suit my needs. I love spinning wool and alpaca fleece. I would like to blend in more SeaCell in the future as I really like the luster it brings.
I don't have a spinning wheel but I do have a spindle. I haven't used it yet, but I am busy with writing crochet patterns and blogging so time is limited. I have been looking into videos on how to spin yarn and that lead me to your channel, which I love, by the way. In a local yarn shop, I saw an Ashford spinning wheel that was ONLY $5000! I loved it though and I really wanted it lol.
I just ordered a Cassandra wheel from JMS Wheels last month and ordered a delta orifice for it too. I can't wait for it to get here. It will be my first time ever even TOUCHING a spinning wheel! I have spun with drop spindles only. I can't decide whether my dream wheel is an Ashford Elizabeth 2 or an Ashford Country Spinner. I love the look of Saxony wheels and the variety it will do but I love the chunky art yarn that comes off of the country spinner. I would LOVE to make some gorgeous 😍 art yarn! I'm so so excited! I can hardly wait!
I love my Saxony. I bought it at an antique store and went in blind with not knowing how to spin on a wheel and still had to fix it up. I did the thing you literally said not to do haha. But now 3 weeks in I’m spinning magnificently and am even on my own 100 day spinning journey. 18 days so far and going strong :) I enjoy wool, but my all time favorite right now is alpaca. I found a local farm and bought several pounds. Lol. I card them myself and absolutely love spinning alpaca!
I don't have a wheel and don't have the room at my place but I am interested in using a drop spindle and would love to spin fiber. I enjoy seeing what you have spun
I am a newbie spinner. I started with a drop spindle, but now I have an Ashford Kiwi 3 (called Cindy!) and she and I are learning together. I would love to try a single-treadle Saxony wheel too, but for now my little Kiwi is everything I need. My favourite fibre so far on my wheel is Corriedale, as it is so forgiving. On my drop spindle I love to spin merino.
I have a Matchless that I purchased used that I love and I just purchased a used Kromsky Symphony that was my dream wheel, I live it. I want to try Shetland sometime. I have spun Alpaca, silk and a variety of wools. I love to spin it is always my "zen" time
Hoping to get an Ashford Traveler double drive! I want to up my knitting game and I just cannot find high quality yarn where I live without spending a fortune, 30$ or more per hank! Can’t wait to dye and spin fingering and light-weight yarn for stranded colour work projects for the ski season!
My Ashford Traditional is getting on a bit, like me, but we are a good team since I found your channel. I am learning not to race along and mostly I manage to keep the speed down. I think that my favourite thing about my wheel is how comfortable she is to sit at. However I am considering an Espinner as longer sessions play my back up.
I bought my first spinning wheel back in April and at the time I didn't know there was a difference between a Scotch tension and Irish tension wheel. After I got it home and did some research I discovered that it was a castle style Irish tension wheel and it took over a week of tears, swearing, small successes and lots of wool to figure out how to use it properly. It was home made in 1988 with no instructions so trial and error was my only option. I sold it and bought a used Ashford Traditional single drive, but now that it's gone I kind of miss it.
Started spinning recently on a drop spindle. But want to try more with spinning wheels. Just acquired 2 antique wheels, one that needs a new flyer, and one that’s more like a great wheel that works great.
congrats evie!!!im not sure what i love inparticular maybe just the sinple fact that it makes yarn :) i just purchased another wheel for 70$ and the wheel is really warped ..i dont know why i didnt check ..newbie here lolol i guess i could replace the wheel??
I love that gwen is old and has seen more than I can imagine and I would love to try or bye a spinolution wheel x Thank you for this video and the chance to win x
I really appreciate that you talk about accessibility first. It's an important issue and we should normalize talking about it in product recommendations.
My mother had a Louët wheel that she did not enjoy. As I learn more about it I'm pretty sure the strong draw was not to her liking. You mentioned it is great for plying and I couldn't agree more! I like to support spin and I hate support spindle plying. I have also learned how to loosen the tension and to cross-lace the Louët to make some pretty thin (sport and fingerling weight) yarn pretty successfully!
I have a Lendrum and love the versatility and portability of this wheel. My favorite wool to spin comes from my angora rabbits. I would love to branch out and try spinning art yarn, but I don’t know that I have the creativity required.
I enjoy your videos and have been watching for a long time. I recently changed my Ashford Traditional to a double treadle. I love the control. This is my first wheel bought at a garage sale. My Grandfather used to spin and made and repaired wheels. I wish he showed me how to spin. I am a novice for sure. I do want to spin to knit. I love the idea of using different fibers. I hope to get creative some day. I do hope to win. But good luck to all.
To enter the giveaway ✨ Leave a comment below and tell me what you love about your spinning wheel, or what your dream wheel is. What do you spin (or want to spin) on your wheel?
I have a Norwegian, Saxony and eel. They all do their special thing but I’d think the eel was my fave which is so weird since I love the traditional/non electric look!! I spin wool for sock and weaving, cotton for rags. I couldn’t comment on your video content since it isn’t closed captioned. Anyways stay cool literally and figuratively:)
My 1 and only wheel is the Schacht Matchless, learning to spin on this wheel for the first time and still awkward.

I can't wait to start spinning their beautiful fiber and have read this wheele works best for them and their very fine wool 🥰
Excited to start spinning and am so lucky to finally do so💖 Thank you for all your videos your an inspiration!
What a great rescue story! How far into spinning have you gotten? This video might be helpful! Happy spinning! ua-cam.com/video/Vtw1TEjXWH0/v-deo.html
Just bought a new to me Ashford Traditional wheel. I am a beginner and have learned a lot from your videos.
Just bought my very 1st wheel last week and learning to spin.
I JUST installed an Ashford double treadle kit on my 80's era Ashford single treadle Traditional. It. Is. Awesome!
Thanks so much Jillian,
So informative and helpful.
U have a lovely way of communicating tricky facts 🙂
Hello! I just start getting interested in spinning and this channel really really helps me a lot! Thank you for all the videos!!
You made the lovely introduction. Thank you..!
I have a Spinolution Echo and I love it’s small footprint, love the treadling motion, all the magnetic parts that snap on and off so easily.
I Just finished spinning a pound of BFL on my new Schacht Matchless and love it, so easy to adjust the uptake of yarn. Still trying to learn more about consistency of twist and diameter of yarn. Waiting for new fleece to come in the mail.🐌
Thank you so much for creating this. Such useful information 👍
I'm not a spinner yet but am very interested in starting with a drop spindle. Thank you for your beginner spindle video, it was very encouraging!
I just got my electric eel wheel nano last week. I REALLY love it! Been spinning some natural brown merino on it in fingering weight form. I plan on making a nice warm shawl for my mother. I would love to spin silk next for my continued learning experience! :D
I have both a Cassandra wheel and an Ashford Traditional. I love spinning on both but i think I can spin finer on my Traditional.
I'm so glad you found a way to keep spinning! ❤
JillianEve thank you so am I 😊
I really appreciate this advice! I do have issues with pain in different areas and I find I do need to continually change positions, depending on what’s hurting! 😅
I really like my Ashford traditional. Mine can spin single or double drive. I also love my Spinolution bullfrog, for it’s art yarn capabilities.
I just received my first spinning wheel for Christmas. I'm looking forward to learning. I love your videos!
Great video, thanks. I am a new spinner and your videos help me a lot. Very informative and positive ❤
Love it!! 🧶💜
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. 😊 i love the sound of my wheel, like if it was singing for me. So soothing.
Very cool about your wheel and alpacas! Happy spinning! 🦙✨🧶
I have just started with a drop spindle but dream of the paradise fibers revolution complete package.
I'm so happy you found the channel! $5000 though? 😳 Did it come with a unicorn?
@@JillianEve lol no but it looked amazing! It looked super antique but it was brand new. real pretty designs on the wood
18 days so far and going strong :)
I enjoy wool, but my all time favorite right now is alpaca. I found a local farm and bought several pounds. Lol. I card them myself and absolutely love spinning alpaca!
That's amazing! You definitely beat the odds, that's for sure! Happy spinning!
I love spinning art yarn with my wheel, particularly multicolored yarns. It helps me feel happier!
My dream spinning wheel would be a Louet Victoria ❤️Would love to spin lace weight yarns :)
I love that gwen is old and has seen more than I can imagine and I would love to try or bye a spinolution wheel x
Thank you for this video and the chance to win x
I really appreciate that you talk about accessibility first. It's an important issue and we should normalize talking about it in product recommendations.
My mother had a Louët wheel that she did not enjoy. As I learn more about it I'm pretty sure the strong draw was not to her liking. You mentioned it is great for plying and I couldn't agree more! I like to support spin and I hate support spindle plying. I have also learned how to loosen the tension and to cross-lace the Louët to make some pretty thin (sport and fingerling weight) yarn pretty successfully!
I have just started watching you so I can learn about spinning so I really can't answer your question 😁
But you left a comment, so you are entered. Good luck!
