I'm late to this but these exercises are done on special medical equipment, like MedEx or Nautilus. They are specifically made for those with health conditions and the older population and are safe and efficient. I got a bad bone density report and I've been doing this high intensity strength training for 7 months. It's hard work but it's worth it.
Once a week may be sufficient for beginner weight lifters, but for a long term weight lifter already at higher weights, I have found that I need to do it more often than that to improve. Also would have been nice to show some video of someone performing the slow motion exercise to get a better feeling for just how slow he means.
In fact, recuperative powers lag behind strength gains; thus a novice might begin at 3x a week, & go to 2x, then 1x, as their greater strength causes a deeper fatigue.
@@Ken, yes, once a week for elderly or weak people, but for most, twice a week is most effective (30 minutes a session). See Fred Hahn for more on this.
Hi Sally, Check out Dr. Brown's interview with Dr. Belinda Beck which provides great information on exercise and how it impacts bone health here tribe.drsusanbrownphd.com/spaces/7856482/content
Hi Rosemary! We always advise to start light. Also, if you have had a previous fracture, please consult with a physical therapist or other trusted medical professional before attempting any exercise.
I checked Dr McGuff site and,of course, nothing near me..ever!🙄 There were 2 gyms 30 min away, but Covid did away with them…now nearest is an hour. I have some weights at home and ordering a weighted vest. I’ll do what I can. I live in an exercise desert…
The Strength Shoppe and The Perfect Workout can train you on zoom without equipment. Either way, in person or on zoom, you'll be paying for a personal trainer. It can be expensive.
@@PeaceIsYeshua I had seen that. I watched several physical therapist talk about bands and got a set that Sara Meeks (osteoporosis expert) recommended along with foam roller etc. fantastic. Working out great. I’ve added dumbbells at higher weights, the vest and alternate with Fishmans 12 yoga poses for osteoporosis. Feeling like a new person. Working in jumps every day. 💕 Thanks for the reminder on that system.. but I think there are alternatives at lower cost -a fixed income is restrictive.
@@Barb6106 Aww!! I’m so happy to hear it’s going so well for you!! It’s amazing what just getting started can do, and those bands sound worth checking out! This is such an encouraging post. Thank you! 😊💖
I'm 74. I do SuperSlow 1x a week. Home training isn't nearly as effective as with expert coaching & specially-designed machines. Strong muscles & strong bones saves lives.
This is wonderful information. I’m 60, I was just diagnosed with osteoporosis. I’m in Canada, not close to one of the centres. I would like to start a home program once a week. My question is, what kind of exercise should I do during the week?

I lived in Albany before moving to SC several years ago. What a coincidence! I need to look up Dr McGuff!

Hi Ken! We appreciate the feedback!
Yes, would love to see how it is done too.
Check out The Strength Shoppe they have a video of a full workout.

And do the ligaments and tendons adapt easier with this technique?
Sadly the sound seems impaired on this video. Looks like a good topic.

Thank you.
I’m worried that if I pick up a heavy weight, it will cause a compression fracture in my spine.

Everything is money🤔
@@Barb, what about the Harambe System? Lots of people love it for home use.

A 60 to 80 year old going to the gym every week? In his dreams. Any home exercises?
Absolutely! Check out our video on at-home exercise here: ua-cam.com/video/jTied2bgYiQ/v-deo.html

I see elder folks in the gym everyday. 🏋️♂️
Just cause they are showing you up you say they are lying. You're just weak. That's you.
