One of the greatsest live performances ever is Vince Gill & Patty Lovelace singing"Go Rest High on That Mountain" at George Jones funeral service. Its a must see for his guitar playing & the most emotional performance in music history. MUST SEE LIVE VIDEO!!!! Thank me later.
I should have sent a link. This is fantastic, but you need to hear the original recording or a live version with Patty Loveless. You need to hear the harmonies and the original and iconic piano and steel solos. There’s magic in that recording. But yes, he is a superstar. He’s got 22 Grammy awards, more than any male country singer. Please dive into more of this music. “Go Rest High on That Mountain” is perhaps what he’s most known for.
Vince is an amazing artist, he is a master guitar player and his voice is exquisite. He is one of the nicest artists and says just answer the phone when someone calls. He sings many duets with both outstanding female and male artists and sings back up for all sorts of others. He is currently singing with the Eagles. He was asked to join them when Glenn Fry passed away. He is an amazing addition to that group. He has an outstanding solo career that spans the decades and gives us those wonderfully memorable songs. Check out Letter to My Mama. He is also married to Amy Grant who is an outstanding artist in her own right. Vince is one in a million.
Vince Gill has won twenty one Grammy’s! He has probably done more duets than any artist out there. He’s an amazing singer, musician and songwriter. He is also known to be just a wonderful human being! Very humble and kind! I’ve seen him live twice and both times were awesome!
Vince and Patty Loveless did this song live on the CMA awards when it came out. They got a standing ovation. Vince and Patty have stunning harmonies together.
You can't go wrong with Vince Gill. Not only a human story; he's one of those amazing people who is just an incredible example of what a great human being can be. He's a role model for being a person in this world. Unfortunately, there are too few people like him.
I know you always react to live performances but please do not deny yourself the beauty of the original recording with harmony by the incomparable Patty Loveless.
Written during the last years of his first marriage. He had returned from a tour and expected to find her home. His career was on the rise and hers was fading. Another beautiful song from that time period was I Still Believe In You, which is definitely a must listen to.
He is an amazing vocalist as well as a top notch musician he was offered a spot in Dire Straights he was also the vocalist for Pure Prairie League ANYTHING BY HIM IS AMAZING
Vince Gill is my all time favorite singer. If you liked this song, you gotta check out these songs as well: "I Still Believe in You" "Don't Let Our Love Start Slipping Away" "I Can't Tell You Why" "Trying to Get Over You" "Whenever You Come Around" "Go Rest High On That Mountain" He also has amazing duets: "The Heart Won't Lie" w/ Reba McEntire "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" w/ Glady Knight "I Will Always Love You" w/ Dolly Parton "If You Ever Leave Me" w/ Barbara Streisand "Don't Rush" w/ Kelly Clarkson "Midnight Rider" w/ Gregg Allman "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" w/ Sting "Every Breath You Take" w/ Sting
Vince Gill grew up in blue grass that is why his music is so rich and so true. God blessed him with a beautiful voice and talent as a musician. Vince Gill is a superstar, a legend.
Vince is great now and fantastic live. But in the 90s in his prime, my goodness!!! These guys have been singing with him forever. His greatest hits album , just pick a song. Just look at us, and go rest high on that mountain are two of my faves. The live version of go rest high is very emotional he sings it at a memorial for George jones. And he barely makes it through.
You really should hear the original album version of this to hear it in its full glory (as good as this is). It's so strong and perfect, it sounds like it's coming down directly from heaven. The louder you turn it up, the better it sounds.
IMHO this is easily a top 5 country song of all time, lyrically speaking, and the original cut with Patty Loveless singing harmony. In fact I'd put it #2 just behind the 'Possum cut of He Stopped Loving Her Today. I saw Vince on stage way back when he was still playin at bars (Governors Lounge, Chattanooga, TN) after this song came out and right before his 2nd album was released with Pocket Full of Gold. Hearing him live, in his prime, in that small setting of a bar that mightve held 100 patrons was amazing.
Vince Gill is incredible and in addition to having a beautiful voice (though he sounds a bit huskier than normal in this live version, so perhaps he was getting over a cold?); he is acknowledged as one of the top guitarists in Nashville, as well. And he's a great, esteemed songwriter. He's the real deal and so highly regarded by his peers. I also recommend his duet with Reba, The Heart Won't Lie. The original music video is fantastic...though I do realize you definitely prefer live performances. Also adding a plus one to the others below saying the original with Patty Loveless is the iconic rendition of this song.
I think this was the first Vince Gill solo song I ever heard back in the 90s and I absolutely fell in love with his voice. You should definitely listen to the studio version when he was younger. His voice is angelic.
Vince has several songs that hit the ear in this same fashion. In his prime he always had such a clear high tenor voice and his voice always brings out such emotion. I can think of "I Still Believe In You", "Tryin' To Get Over You" and "Never Knew Lonely", just to name a few
Vince is always good, BUT, you are watching the wrong video of this song. Vince recorded this song with Patty Loveless. watch the original video or at the very least a video with Patty Singing her harmonies.
Or just even any of the live versions where he sang it with Patty. Vince can still sing very well, but in his prime, he was just on another level. Some of the notes he hit in this song back in his prime, just so ear pleasing.
Good afternoon, the authors of the channel, if you have not listened to a real underground rap from Russia, then I advise you to listen to Зараза x ATL x Horus - Бензопила (Lyric video), SCHOKK - M&M (Oxxxymiron Diss). This is straight old school style from Russia

No, people shouldn't hear that version without hearing the original version first.
It robs people from hearing the beauty of the actual song.

Vince also got an offer in the 80s to join Dire Straits after he left The Pure Prairie League. That man has had quite a career.

Go rest high on that mountain is an amazing song by him

Pocket Full of Gold. Amazing
This was good, but the original with Patty Loveless can not be matched.
Oh completely agree. Her voice blends so well with his.
Nobody can match Vince & Patty together.
Absolutely!!
I agree too - definitely check out the official video. This one doesn’t do his voice justice.
Absolutely!!!
Oh please do the original video from the 90’s. Patty Loveless does the background. It is absolute perfection. Please please please
Little known fact.....
Vince Gill started out as lead vocalist for Pure Prairie League in the 60's/70's. Check out Aimee by them!!
Don''t Let Our Love Start Slippin Away

Vince is a legend! He's currently a member of the legendary 70's band the Eagles.
Classic 90s country! I have his CDs!

❤❤❤❤❤
You should listen to this in his official video.
He was stunning when he was young.
Vince is the husband of Amy Grant.
Loved this!
You should really check out him in his younger years
Go rest high on that mountain give me just one more last chance whenever you come around
Yes PLEASE REACT to the Original song from 1989
So nice! I had forgotten this one.
Beautifully sad 😔
If you have not yet do Vince gill " go rest high"
This song reminds me of "Chiseled in Stone". I do not remember the artist but you should check it out.
Vern Gosdin.
The original is the best
Could you check out Chris Melanson from Canada the song is Room's For Rent it is the best REAL country song I have heard in a long time.
Sadder than a one car funeral…
The original video is so much better even though this is great.
The original is way better. His harmonies with Patty Loveless are incomparable.
You haven`t heard harmonies until you listen to Vince and Patti Lovelace on this song. It will ruin you for any others

I think he purposefully finds the WORST version of these music reactions
