All the steps shown here are listed with images on my website at erinwrightwriting.com/font-style-for-citations-in-microsoft-word/. Thank you for watching!
Unfortunately, it didn't do anything even though I followed your instructions to the letter. Mine MS Word is regularly updated. Is there another wildcard I can use other than ^ d CITATION ? Or is there another way I can try? Thanks a lot.
I am sorry to hear that the wildcard isn't working for you. Because citations are field codes rather than regular text, I am afraid I don't know another way to select them all. If I find a solution, I will be sure to post something about it. Thank you for watching!
Hi, thanks Erin for very useful video, however, I followed the procedure, and at the end it said "0 fields changed" something like that, and nothing changed. I was trying to change the color of my citations within the text.
Thank you for watching! I'm not a Mendeley user, so I'm afraid I don't have any information. Perhaps you can reach out to their support? I wish you all the best with your document!
It only worked for a couple of my citations at first as well. What you want to do is take another look at what the field codes look like once you've pressed ALT + F9. Half of my citations looked like all the field codes in Erin's video (1:30), so they looked like: { CITATION xxx}, but the field codes of the other half of my citations weren't like that. The other half looked like: {CITATION xxx}. The difference, if you haven't noticed already, is that in the 2nd field code, there is NO space between { and CITATION. With other words, you have to use "^dCITATION" (without a space) at 2:13 instead of "^d CITATION". So you should use both "^d CITATION" and "^dCITATION" if you want to cover all citations. That's what worked for me at least.
Thank you for watching! If you want to use a footnote number instead of a text citation, please see my previous tutorial ua-cam.com/video/DGfbbCsZi6Q/v-deo.html. I wish you all the best with your Word document!

This is great, but I've found it doesn't work for citations designed with Mendeley... Any solutions for that scenario?
