Great looking build! Love the wheels-are they compatible with the stock tires?
Yes they are!
I think I'm leaning towards a trail rescue build. This is my first jeep body. Enjoyed all the advice on the rig.
Right on!
That front bumper is awesome. Rally like the mix of scale and functional with the metal backer.
Me too. It was super smart of CCHand to go that route. I like the multiple choices they offer too.
Would it fit on a skeleton hard body?
Probably my favorite build. The Gladiator is just awesome and you’re making so much better. Love this series.
I’m so tempted to buy a TRX-4 kit and lengthen the wheelbase to fit the Gladiator body on it. You and others may find the lockers useless, but I love using them - feels like driving my 1:1. I just have nowhere near your skills in order to pull off such a build.
Keep the excellence coming! 👍✌️
Thanks, customizing is fun! Good luck with your build!
Its looking amazing Matt 👏
It could be worse it could be a Ford and then you would have to fix or repair daily..... lol
‘We’ll test that theory........in another truck’ 🤣🤣🤣 That rig is looking amazing, Matt. 👍🏻👌🏻
I still need to get a rc Gladiator. Im wanting to make it match my 1:1 Gladiator. Great videos 🤙
Its a beast of rc
Your making it very hard to save my money matt!
Now I have to go back and watch part 1!! 😜
I can't get a SCX10 III till next year... But I've got ideas. You're adding to it!!
If I had an SCXIII gladiator, I would take some normal sized SCX body and replicate a 1:1 long wheelbase truck. Maybe a K5 blazer stretched into a suburban, a bronco stretched into a four door "Centurion" truck. There's a lot of really cool directions someone could take that idea with some 1:1 long wheelbase research.
I’m trying to figure out how to make my interior lights kick on with the brake lights but with a 5 second delay . That way when I’m driving they don’t keep kicking on and off but when I park they’ll come on like someone opened a door or is reading a map .
Hmm, I don't think the Dragon controller would allow for something like that. Might have to learn some arduino!
That could be done with a conductor and a transistor opening then the conductor is drained ;-)
I'm not gonna put this one under water🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂
If i were to have a lexan bodied truck in my collection, this would be it.
Dam you Axial, with your temptations.
Just to confirm, the video says 2300kv Motor but the link takes me to a 1200kv?
Also what would you recommend for crawlers. I have the RTR JT now, should I get 1200kv,1800kv or put what you got 2300kv
in building a 6x6 GLADIATOR with solid axles in the back. Maybe traxxas tandem portal axles. But not really liking traxxas and axial mixed lmao just noooooo!!
Yes it looks very nice 👍
I am surprised though that you haven’t done anything yet to the RC4wd Land Rover D-90 sitting behind your heat.??🤔🧐🤷🏻♂️
I haven't? You might want to check back through some older videos! 😉
@@scalebuildersguild ... NO, you just showed “Getting It” and ended with saying you WERE going to do Stuff to it, but never did go back to it... The light green D-90 with the white top behing your head in this video... 🤷🏻♂️
@@annafraley5388 You definitely missed this video then: ua-cam.com/video/WRIl5DcHj9w/v-deo.html
Yeah you right, i can see it now! I can not make a choice only because trx4 is the kit version and I wanted to enjoy to build it from the ground.
I remember scx10 unlimited rubicon when we bough it as kit i think in 2013 and we fall in love in to the axial. We crawler with them for about 5 years ant took a lot of km.
I send you a photo on your mail of our old scx10 after hard roling time :-)
Defenetli going to buy a new one (gladiator with DX5 transmitter) to keep rolling.
If I had a 10.3 Gladiator, I would intro every single one of my videos with "My Space Gladiatooooor!" In Marvin the Martian's voice of course!
Hey Matt. Love your video. Gladiator is awesome. I have two items on my wrangler u might like. First is the rc rock pirates shock towers. Plus front has the hard pan mount so u can get rid of stock one. Other is the bowhouse rc 3d printed three gear transmission plate adapter. I run that and Josh’s vanquish hurts dig. Love vanquish dig unit reliability.
Are there other micro servos that will work for the dig other than the spectrum sx107?
How would i set the brake lights ? Same kit ..using stock stuff truck had no upgraded electronics
Why mount the light controller to the chassis instead of the body? Seems like the hard way to do it.
It still wires into the chassis, rock lights, and bumper. So the majority of the lights are on the chassis. Seemed easier to me.
I just installed this same light kit, I made it so I have 2 connections when connecting the body, (the main plug and the connector for rock lights) and then all I have to do is connect the balance plug for power but I do that after the body is on before I go play. To each their own 👍🏻
Treal shock towers? And flat fenders up front? But I heard you say your putting lights in the factory fenders
I got the same light kit. Absolutely brilliant. Highly recommended. I do like the bed on the new Gladiator, I just don't like the extra length. Looking good though!
Looking to get one of these but the tech just goes over my head 😳. Never had rc before so to me, it's a minefield. I don't even know what type of battery fitment it has as std or what make battery and charger to get. 🙄. Love 5he videos though 😝👍
Awesome build so far brother! I see myself using A LOT of the same parts on my JT! Love your videos and your "witty"(?) Sense of humor 😉
Hahahaha! Thanks very much!
A ready to run? ....hmmmm
Why is the toyota tacoma doing the carolina squat in the back
Because it's missing all of the rear suspension/axle. In process of converting it to leaf springs.
@@scalebuildersguild ohhhh ok can't wait to see a video on whats on the bench
I can go slower with my truck...
Hobbywing 1060 esc+ surpass hobby 550 5-slot 16T in my MST CMX. 22t pinion and 88t spur. Yet delivering enough speed when needed
Glad to hear it!
doing most of these to my JL. You did show me a good way to mive my motor wires for my Axe System to help clean up the wires by having tge wires go towards the servo.
I'm so glad you turned me onto the CCHand front fenders and lights from Stage I. To me, those fender lights are a key styling queue for the JL and the JT and shouldn't be omitted.
Couldn't agree more!
man i missed this show last week
Love your channel! I recently purchased the SCX10 III and am trying to put the ESS sound emulator in it. There is no throttle plug to hook the y cable to with the Spektrum Firma40 combo. Any suggestions?
Unfortunately no
I laughed so hard at 9:40 "We'll test that theory..... in another truck."
I have one. Not happy. Too long too top heavy. Tires sucked. Too much torque twist. I added 50w in the rear shocks. That helped. Added proline hyrax tires with some stick on weight. It now crawls. Still a little top heavy. I removed the inner fenders. Body is a pain to get on and off. Dig servo died 2nd outing. Too slow. My Element TrailWalker that I installed Hirax 1.9’s. A Comanche body and installed the overdrive gears. It out wheels this thing. What a disappointment Axial Gladiator is.
Not sure what you were expecting in terms of crawl performance from a truck that’s wheelbase is longer than my cutting mat. Scale is always going to sacrifice performance. It’s hard to have such a great detailed body, inner fenders, rear rack, and the high CG of portals and expect it to beat something like a Trailwalker.
On paper, the strongest servos available are the Jx B70 and C70 with 72kg-cm or 1000oz-in of torque.
Neat!
Thank you for the good information. Nice tuning👍👍👍
Great looking build, always love your attention to detail! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Have an SCX10 III Kit here. Axe 3300kv with Reefs 555 and 2 Reefs mini. Set of full lights, winch ready to go for it. Just need to take the time to get it built. Thought about maybe making it a Gladiator.
Is that Hobby wing a censored or uncensored systrm? One thing i notice a lot if is people never provide the info on whether or not a system is censored or not. Theres a topic for you to cover in one of your videos as it would be a bit much to explain here.... Basically censored smoother bottom end with gradient throttle curve, uncensored clunky throttle curve giving it a very chuggish start which is not good for that tight 3 wheel technical stuff. There are ways to counteract the clunky bottom end of an uncensored system but I will leave that up to your main man Mr SBG!!!😁
Sensored, thanks for the suggestion!
Where did you get the file to print the windshield stops for the hood?
helo, i used to have scx10 a many years ago, now iam standing befor buying new truck. I have two choices trx4 kit and fit to toyota abs body or scx10 gladiator jeep with 5 chanel rc to have both features of trans, on the other side on the traxxas Iam not sure if is locking diffs so worth it?
That's a decision only you can make. I prefer the simplicity of a standard locked diff, and don't really find myself missing that feature on other trucks. The chassis layout of the Axial kit is more to my taste as it's a little more realistic and provides more room for interiors. Good luck with your decision!
Looks good brother 💪🏾💯
I picked my SCX 10.3 Gladiator at my local hobby store. It was custom done by the hobby store owner. It was painted red, white, and blue over the body. It had a light bar, a snorkel, winch, and ramps for crawling. I didn’t think it was for sale as it was on display but I’m glad I asked. I now own this custom truck.
Amazing!
@@scalebuildersguild It sure was!
My first mods on my gladiator were proline super swampers, ssd wheels and crawler innovations foams.Next was yeah racing desert lizard shocks for just the rear. For now the stock electronics work fine so I'll leave them until they break. I'm thinking about the dx5 rugged radio so I can have the dig and 2 speed.
Almost done replicating a JLUR to my real life JLUR. Exact specs as this one because it’s the Recon version
I’m glad you said it about jeeps 🤣😂
Mine looks like a relatively stock JT, full width bumper, lowered it, running 4.09” RC4wd km3s on V1 machetes, same fenders, also did the pillar light pods and the CChand headlight bezels. Removed the rear rack too, painted the tail light housings, painted the roof. @pandaram14
Looks great Matt! Really like what you have done!
Thanks a bunch!
With my scale Gladiator I’d trade it in for a Chevy or a Bronco (when someone comes out with one). In all seriousness, I’d probably put that CCHand bumper on and do some metal work for sliders and a custom rack.
So what transmitter and receiver are you running now? And how did you install a receiver box and the receiver since the existing one was built into esc?
I want to put that system in mine but don’t know where to start
i had both the AXE 540 2300kv and 3300kv... i breaks rocks, lieterally! hahahaha
but it is so damn heavy, really heavy that i went back to Holmes Hobbies brushed setup and run a Crawlmaster Pro and Sport on my trucks... this motors feels so much more responsive
My wb8’s were warped so I found out that the scx10/scx10.2 incision driveshafts fit in the 10.3. They’ll probably fit even better on the jt given the longer wheelbase
nice work, looks good. Do you use the dig much? I like the dig over 2 speed trans every time.
Oh yes, Dig gets used all the time on my other SCX10III.
Is the .stl file for the hood clips for the windshield available for download somewhere ? :)
Sorry, not from me!
I’m 11 and been saving up for a long time and finally got it in gray and put proline beadlocks And the mud terrains in predator compound and I also made a topper for it
That’s great! Good for you for making your own accessories. Keep up the good work, and enjoy the hobby!
I’m gonna do my halos very similar to the way you did yours. Only I’m using a sticker sheet from my son’s coloring books there was a couple alphabet a-z sticker sheets. I’m using the letter “O” from the sheets as they seem to fit more than perfect it’s really crazy looking. Totally worked out.
Wow, Hobby wing Axe, You have changed. Not in a good way.
How's that exactly? By willing to try things I've got little experience with? I'm not even sure I'll like FOC, and was very up front about that. Can't argue that they haven't been putting some pretty serious innovation into their products, and everyone should get a fair shake at the SBG.
In my opinion I think the rock lights are in the wrong spot you really need them under the body above the axle. Your working in the wheel well lol. You need to see where those rocks are going
There's plenty of spill.
I’m a little confused on the front grill paint. You said you used gun metal, then you sprayed black over it and then a dull clear coat. Any chance you could explain why you used the gun metal if you sprayed over it with black? Also, I bought the the regular Hardtop Wrangler version. If I want to have a black hard top (instead of body color), is gun metal a better choice than black? Thanks so much and I am loving your channel!
The gun metal was sprayed around the inner portion of the headlight bucket, as all real Jeeps have that color plastic surround on the headlight bezel. I masked that and then applied black everywhere else. If you want a black hard top, use black.
Thanks so much!
Digging the upgrades but those rock lights jus sets the whole truck off👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
Love the look Matt! I would switch the tire's on my gladiator first then add some axle brass. I don't have a scx10iii yet. Keep the vids coming man!
i got the hobbywing axe 540 and 550 they are both great motors and highly adjustable so you can have a nice smooth slow throttle curve
I realize I'm late to the party but what's the clicking noise every one talked about non stop when these first came out? I don't know if I'm crazy or if I just can't hear it on my new Gladiator? what's it sound like & what's the fix?? Thanks so much
No click in my Bronco. Make sure the gears are seated properly.
@@scalebuildersguild ye I have the Gladiator & haven't noticed any clicking to my ears either, it seems that everyone troubled with the clicking sound was on the first run RTR Jeep jl's.... cool Thnx
Have you ever posted a video about how you clean your wiring with that loom material? I bought similar material but it was a real pain to work with. Beautiful truck so far. The ring lights on the headlights are very cool!
Where's stage 3?
I'm building one right now, though i would like if CChand had instructions for their snorkel lol
Im debating this or the all in one for my new project..
If a person didn't want dig or the two speed option, could a light kit be plugged into that channel and use the switch on the rtr tx to turn the lights on and off?
Not unless the lights are designed to do that. Power is always going to the Aux channels and need a controller to operate that way.
oath of original Very cool and very cool video. always success for you my friend.
😍😍😍😍
👍👍💯💯💯💯💯💯

Thank you very much!
Hi Matt, I realize this is an older video but I have a quick question if u wldnt mind . I just installed the same cc hand front bumper in your video on my Jeep along w/ the 6mm hub ext for 12mm total. now when I drive the Jeep the wheels are rubbing the front bumper really bad, I'm curious if you ran into this & if so was there a fix besides lifting the body which I really don't want to do? Thanks for any advice
I answered your question on the forum, thanks.
@@scalebuildersguild Oh ok Awesome, I'll go check it out. Thanks so much Brother
@@scalebuildersguild are you (I'm that guy) on the forum? excuse my ignorance the forums new to me I'm trying to figure it out & see how to even upload pics?
Nice!
Today if you had to buy only one crawler, what would it be? Thank you
RTR? This one.

Really wish they made this a KIT version Gladiator
Passenger side headlight is crooked, but looks sick brother!
Can't WAIT to my gladiator so I can put an antenna light ...questions why didn't u use the programmable card to get better power with out buying new motor and all that?I saw it in another video that's why I was asking COOL VIDEOS ✌🤙👍
A brushed system, (and I’m a big fan of the Firma40) will never be as good as a strong brushless system.
Was a stage 3 video done for this build?
Soon.
anyone know if the bumpers
from the scx 10ii work for the 10iii?
Yes, same mount structure. That said, the CRC JK ones are slightly different and don’t fit.
@@scalebuildersguild perfect that cchand bumper is mine!
When's the next update on this??
ASAP.
You should paint a grey tone flag on the mesh for the grill to match a popular after market piece
What part # is that bumper/winch and what site?
All in the description.
Looks awesome! Where can I find the file for the hood bump stops?
Sadly, they come with a body kit that I purchased, so I won't be able to post those, sorry!
@@scalebuildersguild no worries. Thanks for the reply and thank you for the content!
Looks fantastic! I was thinking of getting the Cchand windshield rests, front and rear bumpers for my JLU. If your looking for one more item to spruce up the exterior I would suggest the Club5 hinge covers. I added them to my JLU and they look great.
Ok thanks!
Where did you get the file for the windshield clips? Thanks
I bought a full body set of files from Cults3d
@@scalebuildersguild Thanks
Where can I get one? What’s the price ?
Links are in the video description. Thanks for watching!
did they put the passenger side headlight sticker on crooked at the factory??
No, I did that. And I'm not convinced I'm going to keep them. The light buckets that MyTrickRC included actually look pretty close to stock!
I omitted the stickers in my JLU kit as well. Go for it!
How did you build it? And can you show how
How did I build what?
I would add a snorkel and a light bar with pillar lights
Sweet. Mat, have you seen Absimas CR.3.4 Sherpa? I know its another maker and pricewhise, but think it looks promising. Greetings Mickey ( #Mickeys_rc-crawl )
I haven't, and I'm totally willing to pick one up and check it out. Thanks!
@@scalebuildersguild no prob. Just thinking it migth be a good contender :-)
Wow it's looking amazing n now u got me wanting one! LOL
Love da 3D printed windshield washers
Looks great!
Thanks!
What happened to Stage 3?
It’s filmed and awaiting approval from some very dangerous people.
What I've done, now that I went ahead and pulled the trigger. SSD Contenders with scale hubs, brass beadlock rings, brass simulated brake rotors, 6mm hexes, wrapped in rc4wd patagonias with aftermarket foams. SSD brass differential covers. Bowhouse panhard reinforcement, Samix aluminum shocktowers, cc hand pod lights, knight customs fenders printed with TPU, Team brood 10T 550 5 comm skewed demolition motor, powerhobby 345LP steering servo w/ castle 10A BEC. SSD 25% overdrive portal gears. Transmission input gears @1:1 ratio. Painted the driver with flannel and blue jeans and made a FOX racing baseball cap. Running with a 3S 2200 smart bat on the drivers side. Using a dx5 pro transmitter for control. Soon to add more overland accessories to the scaleness. Also designing up some gladiator vinyls to add as well. So alot...
That's a good sounding list! Thanks for sharing!
@@scalebuildersguild Thanks Matt as always enjoying the series. Really impressed with the team brood motors so far. Not that I am discarding a fellow Missourian "Holmes" but, I like to try things no one else has. The little firma esc has been great thus far, I had my doubts...
Hi there question did you have to do any modifications to get the reefs servo in there truck or did it just mount right on ?? Please I need to know ?
I had to trim. I didn’t use a Reef’s servo on this build, but I cover the trim in my original review of the Scx10iii.
Ok thank one more question what servo horn did you use for this on the scx10iii gladiator ?
Can you send me the video we’re you did the review please and thank you
Nice Video. Even though I don't have the JT (Gladiator), I should be able to apply all this to the JL I just ordered. Definitely looking forward to your future videos. P.S. Noticed you mentioned 12v in regards to the servo? So what is the battery you would recommend for the JL/JT?
3S, no need to go any higher.
770 ounce inches
Were is stage 3?
Patience.
