Nice I can't wait to see the running video cutting tires is so much fun I can't believe that about the 4-link hitting that battery tray either but it's a better truck now then when it left the store another great video thanks Troy roadside RC rocks
after the battery tray bracket removal wouldn’t lowering the shock mounting point (lifting rideheight ) be a better setting? since the tires become the only thing bottoming out?
Somewhere someone probably already posted this, but I think the battery is going to be heavier than the electronics on the other side, so the weight isn't symmetrical anymore if it's on the side.
Nice video, but you forgot one! I found out the hard way that I should have done this right away.. put a piece of heat shrink tubing about 1 cm in length on the center of the little splined drive shaft coupler pieces. Apparently there's enough slop where they can escape! The center ridge is very narrow, so the coupler usually sits all the way in one side or the other. I lost my front coupler while toodling around the trail and had to drive home in RWD only :D
These are good tips. The other conclusion i have drawn is that there isn't a great setup for BOTH crawling and trails. What gives gain to the one aspect, negatively affects the other. See? Go tell the Mrs you need a second truck - one set for rock crawling, one for trail driving ...cuz some knucklehead enthusiast on YT says so.
@@RoadsideRC Honestly I'm not sure, Ive tried a few different times pushing down on it & it doesn't hit, it's close but never touches. it's a recently purchased Gladiator, maybe it's something they took care of on the latest models, that or somehow I really lucked out lol........ Yeah - the long wheelbase on this truck is a double-edged sword for sure. This longer wheelbase would go up stuff the JL version won't - and vice versa.
@@RoadsideRC that be true but then you also get a bit more aftermarket cause tons of bodies are 12.3 WB and links would be wayy easier to get. Especially if changing chassis to LCG ones
There's plenty of space to clean mud outta those tires there's not enough motor to accomplish the job. upgrade to brushless & your tires will clear out instantly... 🤘🏼
I try to point out how much I cut, but it is hard to see, as most was ground off. Basically, took off as much off the bottom of the bumper as possible, plus worked to move it in under the body as much as possible.
I love patronizing the roadside rc crawler shop! Can’t find better custom work in Tennessee!
It is the best rc shop on the street....
Another great video. Looking forward to seeing this one on your backyard crawler course.
Coming soon!
I just got mine today and I will definitely do all those changes, loved the video. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Just got mine an hour ago today as well waiting on it to charge!!!
WOW, thanks it's the little things that made it better!!!!! good job editing and information,
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the kind words!
Great info! Very helpful for newer guys to the hobby like myself. Thank you very much 👍🍻
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
I been looking at stuff I can do to my Bronco, the try mod is def good thinking. I am starting the mods after plenty of stock runs to get a base line.
Awesome! Good luck!
Just ordered mine thanks for the info 👍
Hope you enjoy it!
Wow Troy‼️ That’s so awesome 👏
Thanks so much
Always enjoy your crawler content.
Thank you!
Cool mods Troy. I bet if you put the modded truck next to a box stock one it would be hard to tell the difference. Stealth mods.😁
From a looks standpoint, that is true!
Great tips!! Thanks man!

Haven't had an issue - and you want your crawler to sit as low as possible.
Awesome video, very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Awesome. I’ll be sure to add some of the mods you mentioned on my gladiator. Thank you
Great! Glad this was helpful!

Troy, I'm enjoying your SCX 10iii vids.
Thanks! More to come!
Totally helpful thanks

Yep! That is true.
It also seems to not really matter in most situations.
Woah great vid, that truck is sooo cool
Thanks 👍

Interesting add! I never had that issue, but thanks for the tip.
You have any close ups of how much you cut off the rocksliders?
I don't really - I am sorry. Honestly, I just trimmed about half way.
@@RoadsideRC OK thanks for the update. A buddy of mine was wanting photos and I was I thought he said about half way on the back side of the slider.
AWESOME Muscle car!!
Thank you!
Got the grey Rubicon RTR and painted the body pins white, so I can see their little black holes in the shade.✔️
Nice tip for sure! I miss them frequently!

Interesting!
I find if I make a good crawler - it does just fine on trails. We have trailed comp-grade trucks for MILES with no issues.
Body scissors work awesome for cutting tires 😁
I have heard this...but don't own any!
That's odd my Gladiator doesn't hit the battery brace when compressed
That is odd! I wonder what the difference is?
@@RoadsideRC Honestly I'm not sure, Ive tried a few different times pushing down on it & it doesn't hit, it's close but never touches. it's a recently purchased Gladiator, maybe it's something they took care of on the latest models, that or somehow I really lucked out lol........ Maybe you are right and they fixed it!
So it has been over a year. Are you still running this vehicle and do you regret any of the Mods you made?
This is a great truck!
I have abused it at AxialFest and more. It has withstood everything,!
great video 👍👍
Thank you!
Hi,how can I get the 7free modification for my scx10iii I'm from the Philippines.
Did you watch the video?
Great advice 👍🏼
Thank you!
👍🏻😎Awesome!
Thanks! 😁
Just out of curiosity Are you going to make a video talking about your Shevell. By the way love the video
YES! It is on my list of videos to do!

I did exactly the same thing with my battery tray win I first built my 10lll kit could not have it the way the instructions say
Glad someone else thinks like me!

Love the video i want to know what i need to convert my gladiator to wheelbase of 12.3
That is a HUGE change for this truck!
You may end up needing to get different frame rails, or cut these also.

I have really liked the Gladiator.
In the next video I think you should try out the Holmes hobbies crawl master 9t it’s super fast and controllable
Woo! 9T is super fast!
I really like running 3S, so will have to see what this ESC will let me get away with.
Yo troy I just bought the JL version of the 10.3 just because the wheelbase is 12.3 instead of 13.9 😅

You are right! Wheel speed does solve that issue!
Thx for the tips. Greeting forma chile #weekend_nomads_
Thank you!
I use lexan scissors to cut my tire treads
That works well also!
Wish you would have showed what you cut off the rear bumper kinda useless to tell people about things instead of showing what you cut
I try to point out how much I cut, but it is hard to see, as most was ground off.
Basically, took off as much off the bottom of the bumper as possible, plus worked to move it in under the body as much as possible.
I have a crawler that needs weight at the rear, then again I dont think South Africa is on the face of the earth...
Why do you think it needs weight on the rear? That seems unusual.
@@RoadsideRC Its a truggy and there is no weight in the rear. Is is heavily front weight biased, going downhill usually ends up in ass-over-nose.
Very useful info, thank you!
