Petal dust is a very essential part of sugar flower making. Petal dust is needed to highlight the veins on the sugar flowers. Sometimes there are some colours you cannot find around you. Your best bet is to try to make it yourself. This video uses two ingredients that you have around.
In the absence of vodka , water can be used.

As long as it’s an airtight container it doesn’t go bad easily . No I don’t have any video on shimmer petal dust

can we substitute the vodka for anything non-alcoholic? I’m Muslim so that would be really helpful
The vodka actually evaporates. Also you are actually not consuming it. But you can experiment with water
Lemon extract or Almond extract would work just as well

What food colouring are you using?
It’s a Nigerian brand of food colours, I’m not sure you have it around you
Can we use powered colour instead of color paste
Any type of colour will do the job

@ISBC Cake Academy but it didn't. It wasn't sticking at all. I've tried this so many times with more and more colors. Layering. Different brands and nothing works. There is no binder in so it won't stick.
I'm trying to paint a cake with petal dust and lemon. If I try mixing lemon extract with the homemade petal dust will it spread smoothly on the cake like paint or will it have the consistency in the beginning of the video when u mixed vodka into the cornstarch?
