    SSA60: amzn.to/31ft3tc
This digital soldering station is temperature controlled along with 3 memory slots, and an idle timer. It uses 600 series tips and the handle/iron attaches to the base with a positive click-lock feature on the 7 pin connector.

For the money, that's a great little starter iron.
For slightly more money you can get the Yihua 878 manual temp controlled soldering iron that also has the rework heat gun and uses Hako tips.
Either of these would be a good choice for the hobbyist depending on what you want.
I just realised... I bought myself a new DMM for Christmas that cost six times this price.
This is the first rule of buying tools for hobby use. Spend as little as you can for the most useful tool. If it breaks or you realise that you need better, that's when you drop some real money.
Oh, and warranties where you have to send the equipment back to Shen Zhen are worthless for anything but DOA. Plan on fixing it yourself or replacing.

You should watch his video as it shows an adjustable iron in a full kit form, for a fraction of the price. At under $13 it's a great deal and it appears to use the same type of heating element & tips as $100 irons.

That's a great looking little soldering station. I like the big transformer. Some of these lesser priced soldering stations don't even have a transformer. I may just get one of these for my other bench. Thanks for a great review of this!

I've had an SSA51 for a few years and it's a reliable unit for me. Standard tips and plenty of power and sturdy construction...

Cool, very cheap for having a digital display. I bought the Velleman in your shop for about the same price over a year ago that just has a color wheel to show a rough idea how hot the tip is. It works fine for me but if it dies one day I'll probably get this one.

It's a great starter iron for the money! Especially good for those on a budget. I got a nice Yihua setup on Amazon last year for a little more than $100 that also has a SMD hot air blower and soldering iron with all sorts of tips and accessories (yeah I know how you feel about SMD 😲😲)

You must have read my wishlist. my cat knocked my iron and broke the tip I looked at this thing and haven’t had the chance to see reviews on it.
    Great testing for me.
Have a blessed year Paul. Ever get any nano kits in yet?

$40 I got the same 60watt iron design with 3 presets from the trash next door to me. It was missing any tips so that is all I am into it for. It was sold by Radio Shack. I've never had a digital one before and the best thing I can say about it is that it reheats quickly. But honestly I found myself using the dumb ones because they are more portable.

Extended warranty a gift? Heck, if it works and does not require extensive safety modifications is a gift.

With a directly grounded tip, best not to solder on a live circuit! They should have put a 1Mohm resister in the circuit.

Hello, thank you for the great review and inside look at this soldering station. I just bought one from Amazon (A great deal for $39!) and it arrived today....I'm having trouble identifying "600 Series Tips". What is this "600 Series" referring to? Hakko or Weller standard types or (?)...I did find a full set of "600 Series" tips on Amazon (like ten or twelve tips for $20, which is half the cost of the station, lol) but I just wanted to buy one or two extras...

Clone of the Bakon BR60 with Orange coloring, build quality looks about the same as the original. Also seeing another clone made by Neekey of the Bakon BR90 in teal floating around out there. From when you took it apart was the PCB clean or did it have a bunch of residue on it? Did you get an unusual smells from the unit of the unit while it was off?

Okay, so I bought this exact soldering station and quite frankly I like it, but it came with 1 very pointy tip which is kinda useless to me. Where the heck are ya'll finding 600 series tips at because either I'm searching for them with the wrong info or they just aren't as common as other types.

@@learnelectronics I found those same tips as well....Not too excited to buy a bunch of tips I won't ever use, for $20 which is half the cost of the station itself....Just want to buy one or two spares, and would like to know what the "600 Series" designation is actually referring to....Is it Unique to these Sealogy stations? Or perhaps it is a reference to a Hakko or Weller standard size?

Download or create a PDF copy of the manual. In a year, you're not going to not what the setting mode mean, and the screen provides no clue.

You shouldn't buy a soldering station above 20-30 dollars without a direct drive tip, just not worth it. Just get a Ksger T12.
