OK, here's some back story & trivias; 1) While SNK was back on its feet as SNK Playmore, the situation was still bad. they were stuck with the MVS machine which was used over a decade and their games like SvC chaos and KoF 03 had bad reviews and didn't made profit. SNK was searching for a replacement for the MVS and they chose the Sega Atomiswave - a downgrade version of the Sega Naomi. This was a bad move and SNK games on Atomiswave were notoriously criticized for the HORRIBLE loading time. after 4~5 titles, SNK settled with Taito Type X board for future arcade games. 2) With KoF 03 being known as the "Worst KoF of the numbering series", SNK finally admitted that releasing games annually is flawed strategy and chose to take more time on development. since than KoF is titled by its numbers than the year of its release. 3) To see the actual ending of KoF XI, you need to clear it multiple times. for at least, you need to clear Ash-Oswald-Shen first, than Kyo-Iori-Shingo, Elizabeth-Benimaru-Duolon last. 4) The tag team system of the Ash saga - while it seems Max likes it, most users opinions were negative. That's why the PS port of XI had the usual 3vs3 mode and it was ditched at XII.
Thank you. Now can we now have Oswald in more KoFs? What an insane disservice to one of the best character designs SNK has had in years by only having him in like 2 games, lol.
Man that Stage 6 AI just suddenly leapfrogged into the stratosphere on difficulty. Perfect dodge chains, exact zoning, and spam grabs galore. It's real hard to get into the single player elements of some of these games when that just explodes.
If I could fix one thing in KOF XI's mechanics it would be having an auto-hit when you tag in during a combo. That way it would let players keep focus on each character's combos and not break the flow.
I spent so much time playing this with friends back in highschool. This was the first KOF I really played (besides Maximum Impact) and it's still my favorite. I really would love for SNK to bring back the tag system in the future, even if it's just a seperate mode.

Kof was always meant for the hardcore crowd. But they have eased up a lot since 13 , 14 and 15. And YES 13 is EASY compared to old shit like kyos's max cancel in 2002 um. The timing is a nightmare to learn
Nothing beats 94 in terms of execution. Trying to do a ⬅️➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️↖️ + BC motion for Athena's shining crystal beat or even the simpler hold ⬅️ for one second, ⬇️↘️➡️⬆️ +BC for Heidern's final bringer was next to impossible in a game with almost zero input leniency.

that's actually how the original atomiswave version is. They put some kind of filtering on the pixel art that was clearly meant for 240p but most atomiswave games were meant for 480p. You can tell by the backgrounds in kof 11 being higher quality and made more for a 480p resolution. So I'm guessing the devs blurred the character art thinking it'll match more consistently but it just looks like bad sprite filtering XD. The good news is the ps2 version can actually disable it, it was in the menu when max was complaining about it XDD I'm surprised he didn't mess with the settings that removes it. Now the ps2 version does suffer from being in 480i unlike the original so disabling the blur could have more obvious stutter , but if you have a retrotink 5x or gbs-c with motion adaptive deinterlacing it fixes that issue which is what max was talking about. I also believe it's possible to force 480p using OPL which also helps. You can also do a 240p mod which look pretty good for the sprites unfiltered on a crt. The only thing is you are missing a bit of the background detail that wasn't meant for it, but it still looks pretty good.

Shen Woo is my favourite fighting game character.
Whoevers created Oswald's design must be a genius.
My first full official introduction to KoF. For a while, my team was solid as *hell* >:3
Thank you. Now can we now have Oswald in more KoFs? What an insane disservice to one of the best character designs SNK has had in years by only having him in like 2 games, lol.
11:03 ahh yess not Rugal but the budget version... Frugal... dun dun duuuuuuun
That's Rugal's son.
Shion and Magaki are my favorite sub-boss/boss of the franchise.
THIS game have a very good soundtrack, maybe the best since 97 in my opinion.
20:06 Royal... FLUSH!!
Definitely digging Oswald's style. Everything he does is so slick.
oh hell yeah! Oswald was my main in XI. Awesome character and super fun to play.
Man that Stage 6 AI just suddenly leapfrogged into the stratosphere on difficulty. Perfect dodge chains, exact zoning, and spam grabs galore. It's real hard to get into the single player elements of some of these games when that just explodes.
"People are cancelling their dreams; and no one gives a fuck!" - Matt, 2012
3:53 the combo before was not _actually_ possible as you used 3 skill stocks in a short amount of time
If I could fix one thing in KOF XI's mechanics it would be having an auto-hit when you tag in during a combo. That way it would let players keep focus on each character's combos and not break the flow.
Oswald gives me huge Walter (from Hellsing) vibes. NICE.
I spent so much time playing this with friends back in highschool. This was the first KOF I really played (besides Maximum Impact) and it's still my favorite. I really would love for SNK to bring back the tag system in the future, even if it's just a seperate mode.
The UI for this game is really unique compared to the other games. It reminds me of a powerpoint presentation or a computer/tech advertisement, you'd see at the time. Its clean but also colorful.
Oswald is the best character in KoF11 hands down
Damn...Rugal's son did not need to be bullied so much
I wish the final round where Max won against magaki was shown, just because he got out quite some supers and played well!
KOF 11 is like the black sheep of the series in terms of the roster characters a lot of rare one off appearances
I like this game a lot. I was halfway hoping that XV would be a tag fighter but I knew it wouldn’t be
If you revisit this game you can tag during supers and specials too and tag twice too. Command normals normally don't cause enough hitstun
Max against Shion: let's zone it down with ash first
Also max with his Ken mindset: *fireball jump in* ...
Never played this one unfortunatly and probably never will(unless there comes a remaster or something) this game came out when i was born i hear it is an underrated KOF but it is hard to play something you didn't knew existed. But it does look fun
man i love the logo for this one
KOF with Comic Sans font.
Hurt my brain then. Still does now.
Helluva game outside of that. Absolutely loved this roster.
Oswald is easily one of the sickest characters in the genre, i really hope he's a dlc on XV
He missed again another important ending in the game with kyo Iori and shingo
@@mappybc6097 but those brave souls who learned felt super fucking satisfying and overall improved skills when they tried other footsie based games like SF. Any KOF player could make SF V their bitch
my favorite KOF game!
I remember XI if because of the crazier requirements needed to fight different subbosses besides Adelheid, like get all LDM finishes on every fight before
I remember the PS2 version having some weird focus issues. If you use filtering it's like characters are surrounded by an aura of blurriness.
that's actually how the original atomiswave version is.
@@mario4everd Ah, good to know it was just my old friend (terrible sprite filtering)
Magaki is pretty much a Gradius boss in a fighting game. F that guy.
I really Wish their was a design of ash crimson without the bee hive haircut
"This one feels like it has a lot of potential" oh you have no idea maximilian lol.......
If you change the "n" in Karnoffel for a "t" you get Kartoffel which means potato in german 🤣 So you were basically fighting with potato power
This is a game I really want to play. Also, Oswald is so amazing!
3:30 a.m. Max drops a video on KoF, me: LET'S GO! *guitar solo intensifies*
I love the juxtaposition between the Agent's cool-ass team theme song...and goofy Ramon's animations XD
This was my first owned KOF game and my god I was hooked…idgaf about the pixels. This game blew my miiiiind
