I just want to say that every time I’m looking up a tutorial on a specific thing I’m just SO relieved when I see you have a video on it bc you explain it the best💜
I'm an experienced crocheter, and I just want to thank you for not using fingerling yarn and small needles to demonstrate your work. I'll come across a new stitch or method, and the video is useless because I can't see anything. Thanks! BTW, I love your continuous join. Game changer, that.
Wanted to do this for ages but couldn't find a simple way of doing it and most people never tell you that you née a even number before you start thank you for this video so easy xx
I’m so glad you showed us how to make this pretty scalloped border for a granny square blanket. I was looking for a border like this for the first blanket I made for my daughter . I’ll have time to make this border and give it to her for Christmas . Thank you so much .
I'm here again😊 watched your video 2 years ago. My Granddaughter is having a baby girl in August 2022 and I am going to use this pattern to make her a baby blanket, at her request 😊 I feel blessed that she wants me to make her one🥰 Thanks again for showing us how to make such sweet border❤️ Blessings
Hi 😃🤗👋🧶🪡 I'm a begginer knitter and lefty hand lady but love to see right hand people. In love with the finished look. Thanks for sharing. Greeting from Puerto Rico 🙋♀️🇵🇷
This is great! Love the finished look and thank you so much for sharing. I enjoyed watching and creating the edge on my lap throw. You’re a really good teacher. Thanks again. Loved it.
I'm new to crocheting. I have crocheted a granny square blanket and was in search for a easy border. Your one is super easy and I hope I can do it easily. Thanks a lot for your tutorial.
Thank you so much for this tutorial Robin - it is my new go-to border for the granny style loveys I crochet (around hair elastics so they can be fitted around stuffies' heads instead of crocheting the animal heads) for one of the local animal rescues to sell at event and raise funds to provide for the animals in their care. ❤
Just finished a Rectangular Granny baby blanket and felt like it needed a little something more. Then I saw this video! Perfect scalloped trim. And so easy! Thanks for sharing! *_New Subbie_* ♥♥♥
I so needed to see this. I have been making an afgan in continuous granny square and wondered how I might finish it. Thank you for sharing a great video.
Hi, Robin, I am a crochet beginner and I have just completed my first granny square baby blanket for my great nephew (how exciting). I wanted to finish it with a lovely, yet simple border. I am extremely happy to have found your tutorial explaining in such a detailed manner, how to crochet a scalloped border, which I thought was absolutely perfect for the blanket, as well as for the basic level of my crochet skills! Your instructions were quite easy to follow and your instructional method, especially for a beginner, was crystal clear and truly exemplary! I am very grateful! Thank you, so much! I do, however, have one question. Why is it necessary to end on an even number of rows, before beginning the scalloped border? Moving forward, I would like to know, in case I want to use a particular color from one of the rows. I look forward to reading your reply. Thank you.
You need the right number of holes at the sides so the pattern works out-I found this out the hard way when I got to a corner and didn’t have a spare hole to add the single crochet stitch!!
@@roisinshanahan3821 I figured it out. I started to do it and then stopped and counted my holes and the number was even from corner to corner. It had to be odd from corner to corner so I could alternate the 7 DC with the 1 SC. I am glad I realized it before I kept going. I added another round to my granny rectangle it gave me the right amount of openings to make it work. Thank you for answering.
Good to know thanks!! I wasn’t going to unravel my work as this was quite a time consuming (but still very pretty) project so I just secured at the corner and my giftee won’t be the wiser! 😅
Thank you for this lovely border Robin I have done shell borders before on my work but didn't realise about needing an even row to work on and the sc in between to keep it flat , I always had to wing it lol , now I won't have to thanx to your great instructions , 😘Amanda xx💕
Thank you this is perfect for what I was wanting 🥰 also I didn't even think about needing to even on an even row before starting a shell border ❤ thank you always for your great tutorials
I love this !! Thank you for sharing ! Also just love your voice so clear and easy to follow and calming! You make it enjoyable to learn something new! 🥰
What if it doesn’t come out even like that? I’ve been crocheting on and off for many many years and I still can’t crochet as fast as you! Maybe you can do a video on speeding up crocheting! I love this scallop and I am going to use it!
Thanks for sharing!!! This is the border that I have just chosen to go around my granny square blanket for a friend. It's PERFECT!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Keep sharing your BEAUTIFUL work(s)!! 🎄🥰😘❤
It is such a simple yet cute and elegant border! I'm making a blanket for my mom's Christmas and trying to find a fitting border has proved to be a challenge, but I think I finally found what I was looking for. 😊 Also, the brown yarn you used looks absolutely exquisite, it makes me want to snuggle it for some reason 😂
I just found this video recently and I had such good luck with doing the border on my granny Square baby blanket. I wanted to thank you also wondered if you thought can it only go around a granny square blanket or could you put this border on any blanket?
Robin, thank you so much for this tutorial! If I wanted to do several rows of this shell border with different colors, can you explain to me how I would do this? I am new to crocheting. Thank you!
Thanks for this tutorial. It's exactly what I was looking for to finish my very first project. I have a 60 inch square and one skein (6oz - 315 yards). Will this be enough to go around the whole square? Or sgould i get more yarn? Thanks.

This worked for a rectangular project and you always ended on a single crochet and you had and even number of rows?

I have the same question. I made her granny rectangle blanket and Everytime I add a full round I still have odd numbered rows.
You need the right number of holes at the sides so the pattern works out-I found this out the hard way when I got to a corner and didn’t have a spare hole to add the single crochet stitch!!

You can bodge them on an odd number round to get them to work - there is always a "wing it" option 🤣
