HOW to CROCHET a WAVY SHELL STITCH Border Edging for a Blanket Shawl or Scarf

  • You can learn how to Crochet a Wavy Shell Stitch 3D border edging in this video tutorial. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. This crochet pattern works great on the edge of baby blankets, afghans, shawls, scarves, and more. It is created by making a shell stitch on top of a solid double crochet border. The shells form a 3D wave or ripple effect.
    The stitches used in this pattern include the chain, double crochet, and slip stitch. You can use any size or weight yarn you wish. For this sample, I'm using a worsted weight yarn and a size G hook.

    Thank you for this simplified version. Every other tutorial for this border teaches turning before the slip stitch. It's a very pretty border but I'm not about to turn twice for every shell on a large blanket. Being new to crochet, I never thought to just bend the shell forward. So easy. But my blanket was made before I decided on this border. What happens if my stitches are not a multiple of 4? I guess I could find a way to fudge it and maybe it won't be too noticeable.

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  9 місяців тому +1

      I usually do a single crochet or double crochet border around the whole item before doing borders that require a certain multiple. During that foundation border, I put an extra stitch or two or three in each of the corners to make it work for each edge.
