HOW to CROCHET a WAVY SHELL STITCH Border Edging for a Blanket Shawl or Scarf
Вставка

- You can learn how to Crochet a Wavy Shell Stitch 3D border edging in this video tutorial. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. This crochet pattern works great on the edge of baby blankets, afghans, shawls, scarves, and more. It is created by making a shell stitch on top of a solid double crochet border. The shells form a 3D wave or ripple effect.
The stitches used in this pattern include the chain, double crochet, and slip stitch. You can use any size or weight yarn you wish. For this sample, I'm using a worsted weight yarn and a size G hook.

Вы потрясающая мастерица!❤👍 Спасибо за уроки, по которым не зная языка, все понятно.🇩🇪🌹
Hi how do you finish would you please show it to us how to end
i love that, but any idea on how to finish this? I mean how do I join the last shell with the first one I did?
Did you figure out how to join the last shell?? I’m stuck
@@giantslayerash5475 it seems NO ONE knows how to finish it. Every tutorial will show the stitch but not the finish. WTH!!!
@@pauladowd3835 It was easy. At the last corner, dc and work last dc/shell. Sl st to bottom of first shell so that the shell you just made overlaps next shell just like it does all the way around. I can’t even tell this last corner from the three others.
@@dawnkurtz9541 that's exactly what I did too and it looks great.
@@pauladowd3835 the first video I watched on this edging (this is the second) shows how to make the waves without the row below (so narrower edging) and also clearly shows how to finish and adjust if you don't have the right number if stitches left. It is by Crochet Happiness.
How do you end it? When you get all the way around to the beginning I can’t figure out how to get the last shell & the first shell together correctly
But how do you join it at the end where you began???
Time and time again Im amazed about the endless possibilities in crocheting.
There are sooo many patterns out there to learn.
Thanks for this one.
I will try this on my current granny blanket. 😘
Wonderful!
I love this border and how pretty it is…I added it to a blanket that had various hues of blue to make it look like ocean waves…it really is my new favorite border! You make everything so doable because of your teaching style!! Thank you for sharing your gift and talent!
Wonderful!
That’s exactly what I want to do for my Scuba blanket.
I like it so much that I started to making it around my blanket... but now I'm stuck with the last stich.. how i have to conect the last stich to the first one 🙄😟
You simplify the extraordinary, thank you for taking the the time to show us. My next baby blanket will have this for sure!!
Awesome way teaching, God bless you with lots of new ideas, may the good Lord expand your knowledge and skills to share with all the interested one's love you God bless you and your family.👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️
The entire time it's "Trust the process, don't panic. Trust the process, don't panic. Trust the process, don't panic."
What a neat edging, very pretty. It will use alot of yarn.😄Thanks for the tutorial. Keep up the good work. Your videos are very well explained. 🧶🧶👏🏼👍🏼
I like the way you treated the corner. I’ve watched other videos and there technique was a bit more challenging. Yours is very simple and looks just as great thanks
how do you attach 1st stitch to last one? Also I use a sc instead of slst and ch1 as sl st too fiddley and it looks the same
love the video but you left out the part where you connect it when finished. thanks
My next upcoming border, as always, thank you Donna! ❤
Hi I love this border stitch , but how do you finish it off when you get to the end?
Good work thank you for sharing :-)
Love it, it’s so pretty, dainty and elegant. I did it right on a swatch the very first time, which says a lot because I’m an intermediate beginner. How do you finish it though? I tried winging it a few ways but couldn’t quite get it to look right. Can you add to or make a new brief video on how to end it?
Question. How am I supposed to end the border? I've made it all the way around, but now I'm staring at the shell I just made and I can't figure out what I'm supposed to connect it to to finish this off so the flow looks unbroken.
Easy! To complete the border, just crochet a corner shell into the starting point and slip stitch through the first chain of the first shell. Next, sew the tail end diagonally.
You didn’t show how to end the last shell. How are they connected? I got all the way around my blanket and the last stitches don’t make sense.
Thank you for your tutorials, I did this boarder on my nieces blanket and my blanket came out so nice 😊. Love your patterns and tutorials.
My daughter have been asking blue border for her blanket. This will be amazing. Thank you 🙏🏼 could you please shortly explain how attached the ending part? How First wave and last one comes together?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making this pattern more easy. There are others that miss steps that drive me BONKERS!!! THIS one was so easy. It's making my project look SO GOOD
Glad it was helpful!

How do you join and fasten off?
Hi Donna,
I love your tutorial, and have already started on the wavy shell border for a baby blanket... I have completed the border on all the four sides. Not sure how to join the last stitch with the first. Can you please guide me.
As always ...your explanations are clear and easy steps...thank you for sharing
i luv,luv all your tutorials! you explain so clearly and make it so easy to follow. always look forward to the next tutorial. you taught me a lot.
I have a small Christmas skirt for a 3 foot tree. I changed the wav a small bit to be the size to edge the skirt.
Instead of DC for each dc u mention, to which, I chged to HDC.with a 4.0 mm hook
How Do you finish it?? Having trouble connecting the last shell and the first one it doesn't look right
How do you join the end of the round to the beginning?
I really admire your teaching skills, keep it up, I'll be watching you. How do i download this pattern.
The written patterns are on my Naztazia website. Once there, type in Wavy Shell Stitch to find the instructions.
Hello
Another hit with me.
Thank you.
Donna, how does this work with overlay mosaic crochet please.
Beautiful edging 😍💖😊 love the idea for the baby blankets and scarfs too 💖 Thank you 💖
how do i find a free WRITTEN copy of these directions?
Thank you for this simplified version. Every other tutorial for this border teaches turning before the slip stitch. It's a very pretty border but I'm not about to turn twice for every shell on a large blanket. Being new to crochet, I never thought to just bend the shell forward. So easy. But my blanket was made before I decided on this border. What happens if my stitches are not a multiple of 4? I guess I could find a way to fudge it and maybe it won't be too noticeable.
I usually do a single crochet or double crochet border around the whole item before doing borders that require a certain multiple. During that foundation border, I put an extra stitch or two or three in each of the corners to make it work for each edge.
Stunning, great tutorial and beautiful colors!💜✌️☮️

can i buy your crochet hooks with the wooden bodies please let me know Vronx
Hi! I don't have them for sale at this point, but definitely will consider it!
I love your videos. You have have a gift of simplifying the difficult. This border is lovely, so I decided it was perfect for the baby blanket I’m making. I got one side done and ended up frogging it when I realized it is not reversible. I still love it, I will remember this pattern for a project where only one side is viewed. 😊
Hi Naztazia, can you do another wavy layer ontop of this layer as I have 6 colours which I am using 2 colours at a time, so need to do 3 layers on the border. One layer will be 2 colours etc.
Many thanks
This has become my very favorite border for 2020. I’ve used it on so many blankets.
gorgeous and great video! im gonna use in on my current project. But might not use DC as the base of 2nd row to save yarn/reduce height, think that would be ok?
Ahhh, so simple and pretty!! Thank you!!
Que ponto lindo! What a beautiful crochet! Hugs from Brazil.
Love your tutorials. I just watched one from someone else on this same stitch. Your's is much easier & clearer. I just finished a afghan tonight. I'll be using this border! Btw, love the

Starting on the corner stitch chain 3? Wasn’t sure where to start.
Beautiful! Ty for clear instructions. Excellent teaching & a perfect pace (for me, that is.😉)
Love it 😍 My question is how to do the single crochet round the edge if I have been using double crochet for the main part of my work?
If you slow the playback speed by half it’s easier to follow. Thank you for this tutorial! It’s made my blankets so beautiful! It’s my new favorite border for all my blankets!
I saw this on shorts video. Looked it up on your tutorials. It's a tough one. Trying to find the right border for an afghan. Thank you.
Im a very experianced crocheter but you are very fast with your tutorial...
Why don't you just slow the video down to your liking? Click on the gear icon, click on playback speed, and select something slower, like .25.
You are fantastic!!👍👌
I am going to make this border on a crochet poncho👌👌🙏🏾🙏🏾

Naztazia....... You're Sooo Awesome! 😘 Thank you for Sharing😊
Just beautiful and so simple!!!!
This is beautiful! Your instructions are easily understood! Thank you 💖
Glad it was helpful!
This is so nice! How would I stop it if I just wanted to do it on the 2 opposite edges
I would do the stitch as I started, then instead of turning the corner, just stop and end the border. You can see it stopped at the edge at the timecode 3:54 in the video.
هل تستطعين تقديم حلقة بالعربي ان عملك جدا رائع
