Loved the AQo call-down. I'm guessing he had like JTs, KJs, or KT.
Great explanation for value betting especially on the river. Always say to yourself "I'm not going for thin-value because when I DO get called here I'm maximizing the pot I win."
I watched a guy shove the river about 125% pot on a 23459 runout, vs two fish. I am positive the worst hand he has is A6/76, and I think "No way either fish is gonna call but when they do he's gonna win a good amount so he made a good play." And to everyone's surprise, BOTH fish called with the ass-end of the straight, both show Ax combos and the TAG flips over A6.
Still love Stars to this day!
Grinding through 10nl still, ready for another 25nl shot-take soon.

Stars is a fun place to play and I’ll always prefer the software as it’s what I grew up with but game selection at the higher stakes is very important.

Pete, would you ever show your lifetime results in 200zoom on stars? Any coach or player I ask this question to treats me like I just insulted them, which leads me to believe their graphs aren't great, and they don't want the world to see it, so they can continue running their gig. There are people claiming they beat this game for 5bb/100 over large samples, (i've even heard someone claim 10bb/100) and I think they're just straight-up lying about it.
It would just be nice to see someone actually show evidence of these things. Why is evidence of this non existent?

    • @Chlorofrm
      @Chlorofrm Рік тому

Few/no coaches will have a sample size high enough to be meaningful, or if they do it's an old graph from before they became a coach (so not representative vs the current pool). Coaches simply do not have the time to play high volume and coach at the same time.

It's like getting a bricklayer to build you a wall -
"Can I see some of your past work before I hire you?"
"Sure, here are some pictures of my past work."
      Hiring a bodyguard -
      "Can I see your credentials"
"Sure, not only that, come on down to the firing range with me and watch how slick I am with a gun."
Hiring a pilot to fly a private jet of yours -
      "Can I see your credentials?"
"Sure, I've flown for American Airlines, here's proof, I've had 2,000 flights. Not a single hiccup."
      Hiring a boxing trainer -
      "Can I see your credentials?"
"Sure, have trained 2 world champions."
      Hiring a poker coach -
"Can I see some results of yours?"
      "Heh. heh. No."
      "Why not?"
      Banned.
I think Pete is the best poker coach out there, by the way, by a lot. So if Pete isn't beating these games, then either no one is, or like 5 people in the world are.
It's so backward that this stuff is not provided upfront, and instead, there are smoke and mirrors. Of course, no one has to do anything they don't want, but I think it's borderline snake-oil salesman not to, that comment is directed at every poker coach out there.

I haven’t put in much volume at all over recent years as I’ve been coaching and making content full time. It hasn’t made a lot of sense for me to put in volume financially as what I do for a living earns me a bigger and more stable income than grinding full time. However, I do have an older graph of results which I had up on my site but took down as I didn’t want to mislead people with something most would consider outdated.
I’m also not a fan of posting small samples which can be very disingenuous of true winrate. If I run well over a small sample, then it feels shady to use that as proof of my abilities as a coach when I have plenty of student testimonials and free content to showcase my skills. If I run badly over a small sample then posting those results undersells my ability and makes no sense to post from a business point of view. Prior just don’t understand variance very well.
The good news is that I am thinking about a bankroll challenge for my new subscription site and will be grinding a bit more again in the near future once a couple of imminent projects are out of the way.

7:33 If you are hoping he is on a flush draw, do you want to go all in?
The reason to go all in is to fold out Jx and 99 TT but by polarizing your hand I think you get more hero calls from Jx and TT 99.
Busted draws have already folded to any bet over 50%
Does betting 70% get many more calls from Jx?
I wouldn't even be surprised if someone folded a Q there. Because you are bluffing or value betting. Q is a bluff catcher except maybe AQ

Timestamping every time I had an eye-opening "aha" moment this video:
    5:42 (AQ OTT)
... The entire ATdd hand afterwards
11:44 Being mindful of our turn betting range so that our river bluffs aren't too wide
15:31 EV of biggest bet possible OTR being the highest with nuts vs condensed range (i.e. a range that will rarely or never raise you if you bet river smaller)
    Questions:
At 14:40, is the A6hh turn lead an exploit vs two weaker players? Or is it theoretically approved in some way that I don't understand?
What did villain call with in the 4B pot at 26:45?
14:54 is a great reminder whenever my tilted lizard brain takes over and wants its value bet to get called regardless of it being a horrendously small size.
21:51 is a great reminder for those who may lose confidence when running bad in less obvious spots and would start playing worse if mental game is not sharp enough.
Thank you for the content Pete!! Also, I'm really enjoying CPS (still methodically plugging away through grade 1 of 3 rn) and your exploit course!

Great stuff as always, the 10h5h hand in particular has given me a way to decide when to follow through with busted flush draws. Not playing in bad games I think is obvious advice when we’re talking about short term win rate however I feel I’ve been able to improve faster by seeking out games with strong players relative to the buy in. This allows you to get more repetitions in without any exposure to your bankroll. I used 10,25 zoom to practice and now can comfortably crush 100NL because players are roughly the same caliber.

    • @CarrotCornerPoker
      @CarrotCornerPoker  Рік тому

If you're in UK, Sky is the softest. Unibet is a decent shout too. If you're in the US, Ignition is probably the softest. Not sure about other regions.
A lot of the apps are very soft (Pokerbros etc.) and you can get good rake back deals there too, although if you want to go down that route you have to be careful and do a good bit of research to make sure you're using a reputable agent.
