Hello! Thank you for your video. This is my first time using Master Books and we are doing WS1 this year. Your video was very helpful. Could you tell me where you found the pictures for the timeline that you created? Did you source all the pictures yourself or are they printable from somewhere? Thank you!!
I bought the Timeline pack through Master Books. you can buy a physical one or an ebook that you can print as many copies as you want. I bought the ebook and printed it myself. Here is the link to it. www.masterbooks.com/world-s-story-1-timeline-pack
I definitely believe that the future is going to be more digital when it comes to education I do believe with the current situation in the economy that this is a great opportunity for a channel like this to grow because parents are looking to allow their kids to still be educated and the important thing is just to bring awareness to what is the reason behind why it’s important to have a channel like this and that’s where a building around the community comes in so I love what you’re doing and I support
The Golden Goblet and The Bronze Bow are good books that we read alongside studying Ancient history. We also did some of the ancient history maps from Map Trek. If you want more books to choose from, you can look at the book list for Sonlight level G.
Do you think it would be possible to give to student and have them do reading and worksheets independently with review discussion about what they learned?
That would definitely be possible. The text is written directly to the student like almost all of Masterbooks curriculum so that it can easily be used independently. I just read it aloud because I really enjoy reading it along with them.
Book 1 goes from creation to the Roman Empire. Book 2 goes from the fall of Rome to the Renaissance. I would say if you had already studied creation to Christ, then you could definitely skip to Book 2, or even if you really just wanted to study the Middle Ages because that's what your kids are interested in, I don't see any reason why you couldn't skip to book 2.
I am planning to use WS1- Ancients for half a year beginning in January (this is only our 2nd year homeschooling, beginning 7th grade in fall). Do you think this is doable in half a year? (We already picked a curriculum for half of 7th when I found WS and wanted to try a more CM approach). If so, do you have a suggestion in how best to do it?
Yes, I think this is possible. They really stretch out the worksheets and reading for their 36 week schedule. We did a chapter per week, the book has 28 chapters. We probably spent about 15-20 minutes per day, 4 days per week, maybe a tad more on reading days and less on days they only did worksheets. If you do it as a read aloud without worksheets or skip a few worksheets, you can definitely fit it into a semester. We also skipped the majority of the extra "dig deeper" projects and art studies.
Thanks so much! That is fantastic info & makes me feel much better about trying to tackle it. I was concerned it might be way too ambitious. Thanks again, I appreciate it more than you know@@homeontheplains
The reading can definitely be used for ages 7-12, but I think the younger students would have a harder time with the worksheets, so you might just want to do the narration/discussion with younger ones.
I have not used it yet, but I did purchase it. We are probably going to use it as a read aloud when we get to that time period in Notgrass From Adam to Us.
@myersplus5 I really love both Master Books and Notgrass! I think the textbooks for both are amazing and have lots of great pictures! I can't really account for the overlap just yet, because we have only just started the Notgrass From Adam to Us. I do plan to also read World's Story 2 alongside Notgrass when we get to the Middle Ages. I really like the workbook options with Notgrass (map book, student workbook, lesson review, and timeline books) over the worksheets for World's Story. That is my biggest reason for the switch, because my son had a hard time with a lot of the questions on the World's Story worksheets.
This is so helpful! I was looking into this curriculum for my 7th grader and am so glad I found your review. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! I am so glad it was helpful!
This is great! My 8th grader will be doing the world history book 2. So nice to see a flip through:)

wow was this ever helpful. thanks so much
Can you recommend additional work or reading books for a older child that can go with this curriculum

Do you think this is suitable for multiple kids ages 7 to 12?
The reading can definitely be used for ages 7-12, but I think the younger students would have a harder time with the worksheets, so you might just want to do the narration/discussion with younger ones.
Did you happen to use World's Story 2?
I have not used it yet, but I did purchase it. We are probably going to use it as a read aloud when we get to that time period in Notgrass From Adam to Us.
