Would adding a set of flexx bars be additional vibration dampening..? And truly thank you, I even thought too add the bar weight (flexx)... Richmond with Love Brother
From one Morgan to another, I am pretty salty mine has not made it in yet! Paid for it in May, just waiting for it now to get some riding in New Mexico. I will be watching this series just to keep an eye out for the issues you end up having! Keep it up!
The Mako 360 is expensive and worth every penny especially on an older 300 with no counter balancer, best thing you can do if your hands go numb like mine do, it pretty much eliminated that problem for me.
Hi Morgan. Love the channel and the no-nonsense approach. I have been using MAKO360 for nearly a year and kind of forgot it was there. I removed it for a single ride and IMMEDIATELY regrated doing so 😲, its absence was noticeable
Hey brother, put some Loctite on the bottom nut/cone threads that mount the bar clamps to the triple clamp. Last week my 2017 TX300 lost one of the OEM nut/bushing things and the aluminum “rubber killer” insert. The special nut/bushing that goes through the cone was $65 😮.
@@highlandcycles my teammates on his Sherco came loose on that bolt had to stop and tighten during the race. So yea being a former KTM Factory Rider in 1980 its a given to use Blue Loctite on all bolts. Before I ever ride the bike I also like to scrap paint off motor mounts so you get a perfect seat and the bolt won't get play and get a vibration. Apply Loctite. What we put these bikes through racing Enduros and Hare Scrambles its best to use it. I raced every weekend. If I didn't have National Enduro, Qualifier ISDT, or HS. I rode local events and MX. I tore every bike which was a new bike every 3 months that I got from KTM down then put it back together better than it comes. @@highlandcycles Nothing wrong with how you did but it easier to loosen everything first. Makes it easier to finish taking it apart after you take clamp off bars.
Why did you switch the switches around? this is the first bike Ive had with electric start and fuel injection so I was just curious, I know the kill switch is usually on the left side, or it was on my Yz250x pretty sure.. thanks
How tall are you? I have enduro engineering 15mm risers on my stock handle bars. I am 6.3 with 36 inch arms will the bars you are using be a better fit? Thank.
Do you think you could fit a thumb headed M6 screw in place of the existing m6 that holds down the seat? A tool less seat removal? Or is there not enough clearance?
I was on the fence of getting the Pro Taper woods hi or the Cr Hi bend . I ended up choosing CR hi. But now looking at yours is 3/4th higher I may go with the woods high now.
So is there an sx and woods version of the mako 360? My bike came with one installed by previous owner and he was a woods guy. The main mounts that go into triple clamps seem really low.
You are mistaken. This is a different bike. You are talking about the SX300 that installed the SXS guards onto. This is one of the very first vids of the XC and I eventually swapped these for the EE flags. I am soon to be swapping to the Molecule ones.
So the vibration on that machine is minimum, and with that mako have to be close to zero !!! Please review that !!! Morgan !!! 👍 I’m a huge dirt biker too !!! 😂😂😂
Is the Mako 360 so much better than Flex bars to be worth swapping out? Also, how much higher than stock is your Mako/Woods high bars? Love the Bike so far!!
I've ran both. Which one you use depends upon what you want out of them. I currently run the flex bars because they add way WAY more cushion on the hits from fork (in line with forks). The Maco 360s work better for high vibration but the shark bite really takes a beating (smashes the rubber and actually goes to metal to metal).
My set up is probably 3/4" taller than stock. I like the Mako360 much better. The comfort level is close to the same but the lack of BS in the cockpit is what I love about the mako
Why do you swap the map and start stop switch's around? Is it for Dead start racing or just personal preference? I bought one of these new xc's based you review and your right it's the best stock motorcycle I've ever ridden! Keep up the great content Morgan!
I have a ktm 300xc I've heard shinko 525 was good but some say not good in mud. Mix feeling. And the Dunlop at81ex sounds like a good tire. But it's a 110 istead of 120
@@poorwhiteboy6521 The Dunlop AT81 is shite here in the PNW. I am just north of you on Vancouver Island. The shinko 525 is a good tire i have lots of friends that use them. My go to winter tire is the Kenda Ibex. If your a wheel spinner you will destroy this tire in a few rides
@@poorwhiteboy6521 yeah. I’ve tried both of those. They are just OK. I think the X31 would be really good because the pattern is open and the compound is relatively soft

Thanks so much.
Totally agree.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a grown man so excited about his new bike! Kudos to you Morgan; your enthusiasm is contagious!

Morning can’t seem to find these in the UK any ideas where I could pick one up from
Only place I could think is from their website
As a non-professional dirt bike mechanic, wouldn't it have been easier to take your controls off "before" you removed the top clamp... 😉
Sometimes yes but sometimes there isn't enough cable to slide off while bars are bolted. So I just take the bars loose.
@@highlandcycles Nothing wrong with how you did but it easier to loosen everything first. Makes it easier to finish taking it apart after you take clamp off bars.
Greetings from B.C. Best dirt bike channel on the UA-cams by far. Going to be glued to your build progress. 👍
Thanks man
Those tripple clamps are different to the 20 and 22s👍
Not a ton. And fortunately the Mako360 works.

I just like them on the other sides.
What’s your suggestion for the first step upgrade mako 360 or a steering stabilizer. I have a 2022 300 XCW. Great video!
Mako360 in my opinion
thanks!

@@cep8214 I’m only 5’10” but they would be better. XC gear makes risers for the Mako360 too
Thanks you.

I bet you could. Only problem might be it sticking and maybe catching sensitive parts when cornering
Was wondering how the mako 360 does with crashes. Do you find yourself changing bars at all due to getting bent.
Nope. I’ve crashed plenty with them and never bent a bar or messed up a Mako360
What lift do the Pro Taper bars have. I struggle to stand when riding as my bars are low.
I'm 6'2"
I think some of those bars will help
Not sure the numbers but they are about 1/2" taller than stock
I was on the fence of getting the Pro Taper woods hi or the Cr Hi bend . I ended up choosing CR hi. But now looking at yours is 3/4th higher I may go with the woods high now.
Any feedback/ experience on/ with twisted engineering bars...
Ive had a gentleman say it was kinda like a wet noodle (Twisted E. Bars)... LoL
What is the difference between the mako sx And xc??
SX is machined more to be lighter
For the mako 360 the website says for oversized bars? And those oem grips go right on those bars are they oversized?
They are the normal 1 1/8”
So is there an sx and woods version of the mako 360?
My bike came with one installed by previous owner and he was a woods guy. The main mounts that go into triple clamps seem really low.
No. They have normal and SX. The only difference is that the SX is more machined down to be lighter
PRO move @ 8:50!!!
Are the orange polymers the softest?
No. Purple are.
2nd softest.
Do 2023 ktms real vibrate that much where you need the mako?
I don’t use it for vibes. Cushions all hits
Morgan,
Why are you using the stock handguards instead of the SXS as previously?
Thank you.

I wonder why the bike requires a return cable on the throttle? I don't think I've ever notice one on a 2T before.
It’s because it has a butterfly valve on the throttle body like a 4T.

I would have taken the grips and all stuff off before unscrewing the center clamp wow, but thats just me.
Sometimes you can’t get the stuff off the ends without moving the bars.
Do they make a bar pad for the Mako?
Not yet but soon
What is the difference between the stock bar and the pro taper you upgraded too?
The bend
The Woods High bars are a little taller 1/2” maybe, but more importantly, they have less sweep which fits me
What rise did you get on the mako ?? Love the channel
No rise, just the normal set up
only bummer is you can't use Hcm Cycra handguards with that mako
🤘🤘
Anyone running full bar end hand guards with the Maco setup?
Lots of people do. It still works.
