I'm missing all the original brake shoes/discs which are smaller the standard New Departure brake discs. its a 80 something year old hub so finding parts is a pain.

@@MaximusOverhead I take it yours is strictly all Schwinn built mine is Schwinn built also but does not have the Schwinn decals mine's a 1950 BF Goodrich but other than that DX 97 model is a smooth bike to ride it's not as rough as let's say a cantilever frame Schwinn built bike or a straight bar Schwinn built bike but for some reason that the DX has somewhat more of a subtle rake in the fork which makes it ride real pleasantly surprised but I took notice that your rear wheel looks like it's got a muscle man coaster brake laced into that Schwinn tubular S2 and for your front wheel you have if you can find the cable and the cable housing and the small parts that attach to your front wheel break your front wheel brake is a new departure WD that they built back in the late thirties but discontinued it in 1940 or 41 and then in 1947 they reintroduced that break again for two more years before it was discontinued.

@@garyquail4996 yes mine was an old farm bike, it’s was jury rigged together over its life. How it sits is how I found it, all I did was clean it and rebuild all the mechanical components. I know the rear wheel is original, I think muscle man hubs were the cheaper option then ND hubs, from my research this spitfire was the cheapest model Schwinn sold at the time, bare bones to the extreme. So its customization has its charm since it was all done in the 40s/50s by kids no doubt.
