Why do they call it a wired cam when it requires no wire splicing? This is just a plug in (wired) spotlight cam then. 🤨
Jeff. Thanks a million for this step-by-step! I had installed a doorbell cam before but I was a little leery of having to drill through the garage wall. Your tutorial broke down all the necessary prep so I was more than confident I could get this done. Much appreciated good sir. I read another review of the Spotlight that mentioned that you lose some range [distance] of visibility at night when the spotlight comes on vs just using the cams infrared, so I taped over the lights and I can see all the way out to my gate at the other end of the driveway.
Jeff, this is one of the best and most informative Ring hard-wired installation videos on the internet. Great job!
Thank you for making this vid. I was trying to figure out how to route the power wires on mine, but never figured to disassemble it the way you did - and it’s perfect 👍🏽
Thank you for the video! Just installed mine and thanks to your video everything went smoothly including disconnecting the power cord from the camera and reconnecting after fishing it through the front of my garage.
This is what I’m looking for. Thanks for sharing your great idea. I was gonna install the camera to our new house but I was hesitant to cut the cord or make a bigger hole to fit the cord end... and then I saw this.. now I’m fan of yours haha God bless you brother!
Thank you for taking the time to produce the Ring wired camera setup and installation. It was well done, step by step, clear audio and video.
Once again, thank you.
Just finished installing my ring camera utilizing this tutorial. Thank you so much for this! Extremely helpful!
Thank you so much for these clear, step-by-step directions!
Definition of a complete comprehensive video! Much appreciated and very thorough
Probably one of the Best Videos I've watched on the Ring Spotlight Wired Camera! Thank you.
Great Video, i've Just set up the Ring V2 doorbell connecting it to a Solar Panel for charging. Now after you video it's time for the Security Camera (Wired) Installation.
Thank you so much for this very well put together video. I have the same issue and was wondering how to install the camera without a plug outside. Very helpful, thank you again.
Perfect video! Was looking for this and you explained it and showed everything.
Excellent I'm happy that helped you out! Thanks so much for watching!
Amazing tutorial! I was about ready to do the cutting wire method from a different video and saw you comment on that video about that being unnecessary. Thank you!
I was looking for this type of solution to install my Ring camera outside, on top of my garage door. This is a great video that resolved my problem and alleviated all my concerns. KUDOS! Excellent job showing us to DIY!
Just got one from a friend and will be installing it. Guess I need the mounting kit you mentioned during the video.
Great instructional video. I will be installing my cam soon. (I just purchased it tonight. Must have been returned by someone as it came without an instruction manual and ring sticker, but as long as it works and is not damaged, It should be ok. Thank you for the tutorial. Great job! One small thing, I’m an optician and have seen numerous patients over the years with permanent eye injuries from not wearing protective eyewear while drilling brick and etc... I would recommend using some kind of eyewear protection during the process. Just my two cents. Thanks again!
This was helpful!! I was a bit hesitant with drilling the hole but im just going through a wood. I should be ok. Thank you sir for posting this helpful video 👍🏼
I'm happy to do so I hope that helped! Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for this great video. I am getting my camera tomorrow and it's a great feeling having the knowledge of how getting it done the proper way. Muchas gracias.
Excellent video and a great help. I used his instructions to install mine. It works so well. Thank you.
I've been using my spotlight cam for a while now and it's been working great. Also great video they help me a lot!
Thanks for the great video! Followed your lead/video and now I have Ring Wired Camera (I didn't want to deal with batteries) above my garage without the fear of someone unplugging it!
Excellent I'm happy that was able to guide you!
Always great videos. Clear, concise, and to the point. Thank you.
Great Video. Nice design on the Ring so you can disconnect easily. So many things are soldered/hardwired inside. This looks like a dream
Exactly what I was searching for. Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching!
I just wanted to know if you could adjust the angle, but he never does it.
Hi watched your video after buying a Ring wired spotlight. Very informative and thorough. I successfully installed my spotlight following your video. Excellent..
I watched your video & now I know I don’t need an outside plug. That made uncomfortable as far as someone unplugging it, etc. I can feed it thru the garage wall! Nice! Good to know I can turn those lights off & on, too! Thanks, Jeff. You’ve answered all my questions. I’ll be adding this to my Ring network soon!
Thanks so much for watching I'm happy that helped you out! Appreciate it!
thank you, im getting mine a few days with the ring alarm and this gave me an idea of waht to do
Thanks so much for watching! Hope it helps!
Just the video i was looking for. Thank you for putting this together.
Thanks so much for watching Bruce!
Informative and thorough video regarding going through the wall which I want to do for a clean install, now I don't have to hire someone to do it for me. Thank you for this phenomenal video!!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks Jeff for your very nice clear and helpful explanation to install the ring spotlight cam, I'll receive mine tomorrow, so I'll follow the step as you explained. Many thanks from Quimper (France)
Perfect instructional video. I'm no longer apprehensive about installing it to the edifice.
Thanks for that! Wasn't sure I wanted to drill that big of a hole...thanks for showing the better way
Just received mine, just the video I was looking for! Thanks!
BIG THANK YOU!. Was terribly worried about the cable going through the wall. All good now thank you!.
Thanks man for this vid. I am getting ready to have to do same thing on front side of my house with no power point. Already installed the Floodlight at garage replacing old light.
Excellent sounds like my set up! I hope it works out well for you! Thanks so much for watching!
Great video. Removal of the plug was explained very well. Thanks!
Very helpful video, thank you. Ive heard that the wire is hard to take apart but you proved that wrong, it wasn't so hard, even I can do it. Thanks so much!
Yes for sure it wasn't too hard at all. Its great they were screwed in and not soldered otherwise that would be a different story!
Great video. Really in depth and thorough. Thanks!
Great video!! very EZ to follow, just ordered my Spotlight Cam. I started with a Ring wired doorbell and really liked the motion aspect of anyone approaching my front porch..started looking farther into Ring products and found this light and cam all activated with motion...with your info video ,I will install this bad boy at my back door!!! No body is going to sneak up on me!!Thanks Tc from Nevada
PS does anyone know if during daylight and motion activates the cam, do the lights come on to..
Best unboxing review and how to setup! I don’t know how this hasn’t got a million view ring owners 😭
Was debating on these, I'm sold now! Thanks!
Thanks for watching Mike!
Thank you so much for this thorough and straight forward tutorial. Now I don't have to spend those costly installation fees.
Awesome Jeff I was going to return the camera to the store tomorrow because of this stupid plug. My setup is exactly the same as yours. Thanks to you I will keep the camera and be able to install it. Thank you sir
Magnificent tutorial on how to install the camera. Thank you
Great video. I appreciate the help. I wanted this wired camera. Now I know how I'm going to hook it up.
Thank you
Thanks for the video. Been trying to find info on the possibility of having the wire run inside like you did but couldn’t find nothing. Thanks again!
It was a long shot that someone would be looking for the same thing and I didn't think anyone would be doing what I did. I guess some people have! Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for the video. Every question I had about this camera you just answered.
Thanks for doing the video. Truth be told, when I was wiring the two power cord wires, I broke the terminals on one of them. Thanks to Ring, in that they sent me a replacement unit at no charge.
That's great that they are doing that at least. Thanks so much for watching!
When I read Bob's comment here I made sure I was extra careful & even used a pair of needle nose pliers to loosen those tiny screws a bit first before using the precision screwdrivers. Thanks Jeff - Thanks Bob!
Very helpful and am confident to self-install now. Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching I hope it helps you out!
Not gonna lie......this is an AWESOME video on installation and adjusting the motion zones. Now I have Ring floodlight cam in the backyard, spotlight cam on the front porch. Good start! Now I just need some drones to patrol the area
😁😁😁😁
With Ring...and Covid...you're always home.
Isn't that the truth with everything closerd!
LOL
LOL. :-)
😂😂😂
Kick ass! Been looking for a video exactly like this...thanks for the video brother!
These security camera's would be great in Pattaya to keep an eye on all the bars!
They sure would! I think they should install a bunch of them would make for great security.
Great video, I was concerned about feeding the thick cable through a wall. Disconnecting it from the base was a simple solution that most people just over look
I had the same question and not sure if I would have thought of that. Another solution is to cut off the male electrical plug and replace. Or cut the electrical wire and splice. This plug/splice is not as exposed to the weather. The silicon on wire into the base was very thick/stiff and is exposed in the weather. Messing with that may allow moisture into the base and those electrical connections.
Awesome! Thanks a lot. I was actually thinking I had to cut and splice.
I know a lot of people did it that way as well which is fine but all depending what you want to do. Thanks for Watching and Supporting!
Very clear. Thank you very much, Jeff!
Great video and answered my main questions. 1/ does not use an adapter, but an AC plug. 2/ the ability to temporarily remove the cord from the camera body for through-hole installation. Thank you!
Awesome Video just want I was looking for. Answered all my question what I wanted in this video. Good job.
You bring in so many good stuff Jeff!, too bad I don't need to install a camera, I would buy this one!
Thanks so much for the continued support! Yeah I love the ring products I will be putting up the Ring Alarm video very soon as well.
Outstanding video. Answered all of questions in one place. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for Watching!
Perfect install video. Huge help!!!
Thanks so much for showing how the cord can be removed. That's exactly what I was wondering about.
Excellent step by Step. Thank you!
Thank you Jeff. Your video has been very helpful. I appreciate your work ... *****

Great video! Much appreciated!👏🏼👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
Great instructional video. Thank you!
Have you any tips/ideas about fitting the ring stick up cam wired outdoors please? Same scenario as this. On a garage where the power is inside. Thanks 🙏🏽
Great job!!! You really helped by showing all of the features and install.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, well done!
This was exactly the video I needed. Thanks.
Thanks for postings. Plenty of detail.
Great instructor. Step by step.
Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate that!
Thanks for making this install video as I have to drill and run the wires the same way you did. Now I just have to buy an expensive masonry bit that I'm only going to use once ever
Yeah that's the crappy part buying the bits you won't use very much! Thanks for watching the video! Appreciate it!
Thank you Jeff, your video is very helpful.
Hi Jeff, thanks a million for this incredibly helpful video. Even Ring didint provide like this helpful technical information
Great video. Explained all of the details very well.
Great video, Thank you!
Spot on video! Best on the internet. Thank you.
Great review thanks and God bless!
What an awesome informative video. Thanks alot bud !!!
Thank you I’m interested in getting one snd and your video has helped me understand the proses ring do a different flood light that isn’t wired would the wire of this one in this video work with it thank you for your time
Great and helpful video Jeff
Thanks mate, this is extremely helpful
Great video! Thanks!
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you Mr. Clean! 👍
Going does this as to not void the warranty as I would do if I cut off the moulded plug. What size masonry drill be do you need for the cable to pass through the wall?
Great job, Jeff!
Excellent video sir . All the other videos have shown people cutting the plug off but yours has shown there a better way . Well done and thankyou !!
Thanks! Yes most people want something faster so they cut the plug off but if you are ever changing the unit or selling the old unit no one wants a cut plug for sure. I appreciate the support!
@@JeffLepard hi @jeff so it is possible to shorten the wire from the same end you show in the video? my plug is only 4' from the camera and i have about 15' of extra cable that i don't really want hanging around.
Thank you so much for making this video. I am planning to do this soon. I didn't catch if you mentioned the cable length? The nearest plug to my install point is a little ways off and I am wondering if it will be long enough. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for watching. I don't think I did mention the length but I know that cord was very long! The cord was at least 20-25'. Hopefully that will do for you otherwise you could just use an extension cord.
Thanks exactly what I was searching for
Hey Jeff - how long is that power cord? I'm looking to plug it in to the outlet on my garage ceiling (that's also used for my garage door opener)... and hoping it will reach.
Great detailed video...thank you.
I plan to get one of these cameras myself soon.
These are awesome! You can also get the one without the cord if you need!
Great video! Awesome explanation
Thanks so much for watching!
