- on 8/28/2021 I caught the Middletown and Hummelstown RR (the milk and Honey)moving cars to their yard for storage. This on brown street in Middletown pa.
That horn sounds like an old ferry boat! I adore it. What a beautiful place and a grand old gal strutting her stuff. That Alco is absolutely beautiful!
This is a nice horn. It echoes nice between the buildings.
I always enjoy street running and videos about it. Nicely done. Horn sounds like an oversized French horn.
It is a loud horn.
I do not think I have ever seen a cleaner street. Not a leaf, not a bit of trash, nothing. Almost looks like a model! Great job keeping the community clean through Civic pride!
They run a street sweeper once a week in this part of town.
You didn't look very close!
😅😮😊
Very clean streets
Thank you so much for posting this. I haven’t been to Kuppy’s since my friend Julie passed away in 2011. We also used to go to that grocery store right at the corner….it was Fox’s at that time.
Your welcome, kuppy’s is still making great food, and i still call the grocery store Fox’s sometimes 😂
Awesome capture of that vintage Alco. Loved it. James.
Thanks. I will try to do more videos of it
I like the oblivious guy with the phone, the locomotive...an ALCO S-2? the BLAT horn , the train, the street, the neighborhood and the HOMETOWN HEROES posters on front of KUPPYS DINER!
S6
Its a nice smalltown.i am not sure what kind of engine it is.
S-6 -- you can see it written on the side of the cab as it comes past.
It's an inverted S 9 !! 😂
@@martinleicht5911 Don't be silly. Inverted S9s were only sold to Australia, where they look like a regular S6.
I rode their tourist train once, I think a GE 70-tonner was pulling it. Awesome video, thank you.
They have a 2-6-0 steam locomotive similar to Strasburg #89 but it has been out of service for a while. Also, their tourist trains more recently stopped short of the bridge toward the north end because of damage or something, they used to go to the Indian Echo Caverns stop south of Rt. 322. They rarely crossed Rt. 322 with a tourist train because it's a busy highway and I believe the crossing has no gates. They do interchange with NS in Hummelstown but I believe they don't use that interchange, they get freight from NS in Middletown, who has trackage rights on Amtrak.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing this ..... I remember that line connection between Middletown & Hummelstown..... Kuppy's Diner ??? Wow .... Me & my late father used to eat there ..... Than rail line .. I know it goes all the way up through Rt. 322 ..... To Hummelstown ..... I'm formerly from Pennsylvania....... Harrisburg which is a city with debris in their streets ..... Anywhere south to east ,..... The above are boroughs...... They keep their streets in a pristine fashion...... They have pride ..... Highspire..... Middletown ...... Elizabethtown...... Mount Joy ...... Hershey PA ..... And of course yours truly Hummelstown....... ✌🏿❤️
Nice to hear from you. It is still doing business but not as many customers. Still goes to Hummelstown but they dont cross 322 many times a year if any. Kuppys is still a good place to eat. Sadly the owner of this railroad passed away in December. But hopefully it goes forward as a strong railroad.
Hello from the UK. I find street running fascinating and a bit surreal. Here in the UK it has all gone. I was just thinking that the man with the red flag running in front of the train gives another meaning to "street running".
There is less now than in the past. Some taken out by rerouting the tracks and some due to businesses moving or no longer using rail service
How about a short section of the Welsh Highland Railway in Porthmadog
@@OdneyManor-nv4ut OK. But that is narrow gauge isn't it? And it is a very short section.
my old hometown loved seeing Kuppys diner.
Its a great diner, they are still making good food.
@@hippleshappenings6700So I take it Kuppy's is basic patty melts, fried chicken, steaks, breakfasts, that kind of thing? And better than Denny's or IHOP?
كم هذا المنظر رائع ياصديقي حتى المدينه نظيفه جدا شكرا لك من اليمن 😊😊
I am happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching, it is a clean part of town.
شكرا لك هذا في فرنسا أليس كذالك
No, this is in the USA . Middletown Pennsylvania
That dude was looking at his phone the whole time, doubt he even noticed the train!
What train?
That would be a good video, man walks into train while staining at phone.
Good to see trains going down the main street, 300 out of 10
Thanks
Amazing video.
Thank you
I lived in Middletown for a year, and never knew that there was a section of rail running through the town....... I should've gone out more 😅
The closest anyone can get to a Freight Train ,Great video 🇬🇧❤🇺🇸
Thanks
We had same look in Oshawa Ontario Canada, Trains shunting Box Cars from the North G.M. Plant to the South Plant and back! I was so much younger back then and just got a thrill standing as close to the Tracks(Safely) to feel the vibration under the feet!
These trains do shake the ground.
Wow!!! Milk and Honey. ... Lovely.
Thank you 😋
Very good this vídeo!!! Congrates from Brazil
Thank you, i am glad you enjoyed it
Pretty neat video. Thanks. and subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome Railfan Video 👍👍👍👍👍🚂
Thank you.
Always find it bizarre that a town grows up so close to a train line and creating this situation.
Train line built back in the horse and buggy days when it really didn't matter much.
I find it brilliant. Those locomotives are giant power plants. If that town had a massive power outage they could literally put a few locos up that street and dispense some mega kvs.
But, they need to be refueled with diesel fuel.
That's pretty cool. A train must come through. 😊😊😊😊
Cool video. I would like to capture that railroad shifting cars sometime. I guess they don't shift there to often.
They work on call. Whenever the customer needs them. So its hard to catch them working. I did catch them friday shifting some cars. I will put video up soon
@@hippleshappenings6700 Cool i will be looking forward to see the video.
Good video !!!
Thank you
Didn't know it was in Pa. until I saw the Hometown Heroes street banners. Got to visit Kuppy's, just for the sign.
The food is still good too!
1:12...Anyone sleeping in those buildings is awake now!
Yes, it is a loud horn
Odd sounding horn but gets your attention!
Sounds like a Leslie A125
Thanks.@@NoahDoane
Corn syrup, the most precious of all batches! 😊
It seems to be in all food nowadays
One sweet train.
This is a unique standout as I regularly have dreams of trains moving along residential streets. Wonderful setting! You know? PWG
Thank you
Isn't the flag supposed to be a bright color like orange yellow or red
It looks like a red flag, but looks a little dirty too.
If those tank cars filled with corn syrup were to tip over and spill, it would make for a very sticky situation and one decidedly not sweet for the cleanup crew.
Lol, it would make a mess!
I enjoyed the clip. as a Briton it leaves me thinking no wonder there are so many grade crossing accidents in the USA. One man has no chance of stopping the traffic on all those junctions within the trains stopping distance. In my opinion he scarcely tries, although he has placed himself at the correct place. There should at least be traffic lights controllable by the railroad at each junction. the guy in the parked car was gambling his life that the car didn't stall or fail just after starting.
You statement is true. But people in America go around crossing gates to beat the train. Very selfish people here.,
Good luck with your video
Thank you
NEW subscriber here 🤘
Thank you
@@hippleshappenings6700 my pleasure 👍
Great video, i like it.
Thanks
Cool, thanks 👍
Thanks for watching
Wow, that's bizarre- A train cruising down the middle of the street.
Ich hoffe, Du meinst es sarkastisch !
I like to see this, not many of these street running train left in america
I paused the video I believe it says Alco S6 under the 151. That puts this locomotive 1980? Still runs. Not too many of them left Now many got newer switchers.
lot of the private railway companies use old locomotives and switchers. Many of them cant afford to buy newer models not for what they get paid to switch out an industry. So they make due with what they can afford.
Werent the S6s built during the 1950s(prod ended in 1960)?
I rode their tourist train years ago, but did not realize they were a working freight railroad. What are they hauling in those tank cars?
One said "corn syrup".
Their main customer is univar. Those cars are chemical cars . Chlorine, sulfur dioxide and stuff like it. But these were storage cars. They said corn syrup
बस इतनी सी गाड़ी हमारे यहां तो टंकी गिनते- गिनते गिनती ही भूल जाओ?
That horn could wake the dead 😅
It is loud and echoes nice between the buildings
How fun! Thank you. Any mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* in town?
Never saw this in Europ! 😂
We have lots of these street running in usa. Many towns were built around the railroads.
How's the food at Kuppy's?
The food is very good. They are only open from 6am to2 pm.
I love the horn and how old is this engine
The horn is loud. Not sure what year the engine is, i will find out
@@hippleshappenings6700 Okay sounds good
What supports the tracks under the asphalt streets?
It is still supported on wooden ties and stone ballast. They rebuilt this line a few years under the blacktop.
nic video bro
Thanks, i am glad you liked it
Ahh pure gold!
I ❤ 🚂🚃🚄🚅🚈🚞🚝
I have a folder on ''transportation''
thank you chou chou chouuuu :))
I wonder if a train engineer ever stepped the train for a cup of coffee at the dinner?
I bet he did at least one time.
He wouldn't even have to stop at that speed. Just phone ahead and they could run out and hand it to him. Everyone in town knows when the train comes through.
That’s a lot of corn syrup!
was that route an old trolley line r just a switching district? thanks great catch.
It was once part of the reading railroad. It was always a freight line. But they do have some tourist trains now.
thanks for your information
There was also trolley’s that ran through Middletown Pa here but i am not sure if they used this line.
TIEMPS MODERNOS ?? ESE TREN NO CABE MAS EN ESAS CALLES .TIENEN K DESVIAR SU RUTA ESUN ATRASO PA' LOS VEHIVULOS O VEHICULOS D EMERGENCIA BOMBEROS ,AMBULANCIAS ETC ETC
This train only runs about once a week through town. It is a short distance also. I love to see trains still running on town roads.
It would be better if the State in which this is is mentioned. Would it not for those of us unfamiliar?
Good point, its in pennsylvania
It is in the description: This on brown street in Middletown pa.
Гладкие дорога и рельсы, в один уровень. 👍
❤❤❤❤❤🎉😢😮😊👍
Yes, this trais very smooth through town, it was replaced not to long ago
I remeber childhoods when over city was manchester of india
Wow, we got rid of that system 100 years ago.
That horn sounds alot like when you lose on the price is right 😆
It is an awesome horn!
Literally “running” 😊
Kids don’t play in the street or you might get hit by a train…
That would be worse than a car😂😂
I'm trying to sleep lol
Манёвры - это весело (:
Yes, i like watching them move cars over running fast down the tracks

Is this Michigan?
Its in Middletown pa. Brown street.
Middletown, Pennsylvania.
Coverroad rail would be, smooth wheel be must
Look, simple base
Не завидую жителям соседних домов.
I would love to live beside these tracks to see the train go by

Каждому своё: для меня уж больно шумно.
От меня сейчас железная дорога примерно в 2,5 км, но ночами при безветренной погоде гудки поездов меня будят.
What town is that in?
You know😂😂

Happy you like it

Hello
Western union coming threw
Yep Just Being Stupid.

That poor trainman, motorists don't respect that dumb little flag. Do yourself a favor, use a fusee, people respond to a dude wielding a burning flare, and you'll look a lot cooler too. Especially if you light a cigarette with it, just make sure you have sunglasses on, or else you won't be able to see for a few minutes.
Lmao! The engineer had a mask on!! Why?? What a dork!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Perhaps his crew mate had a bad case of flatulence…
HaHa@@FeckHallBahn
Maybe he is sick with something (cold/flu, for example) and does not wish to infect his co-workers.
Maybe there was a Covid-19 pandemic going around at the time, in which case, the engineer was being a "dork," he was just being careful.
Maybe he's sick and doesn't want to pass it on. Maybe he's immuno-compromised and doesn't want to get sick. Either way, why do you feel the need to be such a douche about it? Why is it so threatening to you to see a picture of a man with a piece of cloth over his face?

That's not famous

Would love living in a town like this
It would be nice.
Dirty Pennsylvania. Dirty cops, dirty politicians, but you can gamble and drink on every street corner.
Yes we can gamle now. That was ed rendell.
