- Hi! This is just a quick a video to show my 4C hair texture. My hair is still wet in this video. Once dry, I experience even more shrinkage. It is very tightly curled without a defined curl pattern. My hair is wiry and my coils wrap around each other, which makes it a challenge to detangle. My hair appears full but I have very fine and very FRAGILE strands! :-) My hair also get's dangerously dry so I have to apply Shea butter and oils shortly after my wash and wrap it up to seal in the moisture and prevent breakage. Once you get to know your texture, you are able to properly care for it and experience it in all it's greatness. 4C hair, like all other hair types, is beautiful and I would not trade it for anything! Thanks for watching!!!

your hair is exactly like my daughters.. her friends in school would tease her about how her hair loos so nappy and short.. one day she came home crying about it.. so flat ironed it and sent her to school and they were shocked that her hair was down the middle of her back… that changed her life… she was like mommy I just love my natural hair short and kinky.. my hair is longer than all my friends and they want theirs to look like mine….. yep.. mommies mission accomplished… you have beautiful hair
Tonja Johnson I'm glad that your daughter has been able to embrace her hair. My daughter has hair exactly like mine and I think that because I embrace my hair she does too. I keep her hair in regular ponytails with twists or i'll african thread it. Every once in a while I'll straighten it but of course it lasts less than a week! lol
Kudos to you mommy
Beautiful.
Beautiful job , Mommy! I love how you helped your daughter to embrace and love her natural hair texture. Self love at it's finest! Well done.
It really amazes me how our hair can shrink so much and stretch so long LOLOLOL. My hair shrinks alot too but stretches to mid back like yours. It just amazes me.
+Lisa Johnson Yes! It's like magic!
Won't stop, never stop loving 4c hair!
FINALLY....someone on UA-cam has exactly what my natural texture hair is.
It looks like nobody on YT has the same as mine lol I'm happy for you
What is so wrong about having nappy hair????? People act like it's the end of the world. Dear, your hair is GORGEOUS.
i agree
nappy hair is cool
Amen!
QuietRiot123 I love my nappy hair! :-) Thanks so much!
Alexis BD
No problem! You should, girl you better work! ;-)
I never NOT ONCE heard her say, nor give the impression that she found anything wrong with her hair. Your micromanaging'ass comment says more about YOU than it does her feelings about her hair (which, btw, can be whatEVER *she* wants them to be -- in HER life -- and on HER page -- good or bad).
This is real 4C hair...
If you are 4c hair, you do have a curl pattern, it's tightly curled, not easily visible. But none the less, it's curls.
Hi Isis Goodson- Yes, I know my hair is "curly". I do not feel that I have a defined curl pattern.
Black women are amazing just for the fact that they have to do over twice the effort that us white women do for our hair. You're amazing! I'm glad you shared this video with us. Thanks!
+Sara Mayo Thank you!
I know. I appreciate seeing that comment. We love it too😍. We love to be different and creative with our styles. Be blessed.
Sara Mayo so sweet
D.MYST Not everything is about black men though.
WOW!!! I don't think I've EVER seen 4C hair that long & healthy looking! GORGEOUS!
Now I KNOW that there's hope for my 4C hair. Thanx 4 sharing.
Thanks so much tuutts39! There are many 4C gals with long hair, look forward to your growth!

Alexis BD:-D
Yassss, now that's some 4c REALNESS! Love it!
blenching Thank you!
I love the way 4c hair looks. Such a resemblance to the universe!
Hi kiwilimew! Yes, I actually heard that before from a scholar who stated that the winding of the strands represents the universe. It's a very nice thought! :-)
This is definitely 4C hair. Beautiful 4C hair!!
Yep, thanks Adrienne M!!
it looks so soft omg
+dejjj_789 Thank You!

That is one beautiful head of hair!!
Yep. That's definitely 4C and gorgeous!!!
Thank you odu alumna!!
Giiiiiiiiiiirl. My hair is like yours and anytime I try to do a style with it, I sit there and watch Korean dramas for HOURS...to distract from the pain of course. Lol. And the pulled muscles in my arm. My arms look toned cus of my hair hahaha
***** HA HA. I understand about those muscle aches too! :-)
***** lmao
I love kdrama lol I should start doing this !!
+Kyla Grace I looove Korean dramas. I'm currently watching "Oh my ghostess" ;-)
Oh my gosh, I love korean drama too, you should suggest some the ones you watch
Thanks for sharing because I was so ready to give up on my 4C hair.
As a guy, I don't see why women do anything to their hair. I love all the different hair types, but my favorite has to be kinks(tight or loose. doesn't matter) because it's different. I like that this is a trait blacks have exclusively(whites have eye color, Asians have facial structures, etc.). You can't find anyone else with our hair(similar, but no cigar), and that's no diss or anything because I find women hair in general to be fascinating, but for the women out there, keep your individuality. Put away the relaxers and flat irons. If you must have your hair look longer, use mousse(i think that's how you spell it). That is the only thing my sis puts in her hair and it works fine(it emphasizes and lengthens without emulating straight). She is always told that she has amazing hair(past shoulders above elbow) and although she used to straighten it, she no longer does it as often(maybe 2-3 times a year). Most black girls she knows tells her that seeing her hair makes them wish they didn't perm. She is known for her hair, and I think for black women that it would be a good thing to have something like that. Even white girls tell her that the thickness and length is to be envied. She didn't like it as much before we came to DC, but after we moved, she loved it(DC is probably the most diverse city in America). She even says she'd rather do hairstyles with her natural hair. Black women, if you can't find a reason to like your hair because of surrounding, move to a diverse area. I guarantee that you'll love it afterwards.
Btw short hair also looks good. It's all about how the hair fits the face. A lot of the most attractive women I know have short hair.
Great post, I agree
As females, we don't care about what men think :D
***** Not about some random mans opinion
***** Okay.
Im 4c also so jealous of the way your hair does mine doesnt want to leave my scalp! No matter what I do ive tried everything even the African threading after two days it was back to the way it was! So two strand twist is my go style! Your hair is so pretty though I just love it! Maybe if I stick with for some more maybe ill find something that works. I've been natural for jusr about 4 years next April... so well see
Ahhhh!!!! The BEAUTY of 4c hair.

Hi sokeke6! It took some trial and error to learn my hair over the years but I did study and listen to it. I don't do the exact same things all the time but I do a few particular things all the time- Water, butter, oil, and tuck in my ends! Now that, I do to a T! lol
Ok.. I believe u now...lol! I see so many ppl say they have 4c when they have no idea what it really is...smh! Glad to see a true inspirational 4c-girl!!! Beautiful!!!

Crystal White Thank you! :-)
Can't wait to see more hair videos from you:) you give us 4C girls hope:)
Thank you rbaskin!!
Glad I found your vid. I am still transitioning (my pic is a wet set of mostly relaxed hair). I was starting to get nervous b/c all the vids I see are of naturalistas with looser curls. I am not sure what my final texture will be, but according to my mom who started relaxing me at 6, I have "spongy" hair that "draws up." Hmm... sounds like 4c to me. So I am happy to see someone with healthy gorgeous hair of the more coarse type.
Hi ocky88, Thank you! Good luck on your journey!!
I also have 4c hair and I've recently made the decision to grow out my hair after cutting off my shoulder length locs and wearing a fade for about 6-7 months. This video has definitely boosted my confidence on my natural hair journey. Thanks for sharing your appreciation for your hair type and showing us that 4c girls CAN have long hair! xo
+Ashley N. Aww, Thank you so much!!! I am so glad that you are embracing your hair!! Your can most definitely grow your hair to be very long! I found that keeping my hair moisturized and keeping the ends of my hair tucked in was the magic to maintain length. No specific products or routines, just whatever you see your hair responding too!
I love your 1a hair. This is why I say you have it. As humans being, we are conditioned to believe number 1 is the best. So with hair typing system, I decided that we need to put our hair at the top of the pyramid since we are the ones that use it.
***** Thank you!
Humans began in Africa and probably had hair like ours. So it makes sense to flip the hair type chart. :) I like it :)
it's so fluffy im gonna die!!!! love it
+Ana Mi lol
Now this is 4c hair! Looks just like mines.
Shrinkage is a lairrrrrr!!!! I am so freaking glad to finally find someone with similar hair texture to mine on UA-cam. I feel like they are a lot of naturals that have "better" textures than mine so I sometimes feel out of the loop and want to give up. Your two videos have given me tons of hope. I am so looking forward to watching your upcoming videos and continuing to be inspired.
I love it! It's so cushy beautiful and springy. I just love it. Thanks for sharing that. I know it takes a moment to detangle and style but it's worth it. You do a great job with it too. Rockin'.
Thanks so much Ima Hicks!
Yep, I know 4c when I see it because I have it...not that long but I know that texture with my eyes closed (lol!). Beautiful hair.
Thank you S. Collins!! 4C is definitely unique!
Oh yeah that is definitely 4C hair :) looks just like my texture!
Hi Tia S!
FINALLY, someone with my hair type! I've only been natural for a week. Please let me know what products you use. Have a gr8 day!
ThisIs Me Hi, I was using Cantu Shea Butter Products for Natural Hair. So Water, Shea Butter, and Oils (ex. Jojoba and Olive Oil)
Thanks a bunch!! You give me a lot of hope for this hair of mines!!
You're welcome Raven Hamilton!
Lovely hair! It's so thick. The best things i love about 4c hair are its thickness and versatility. You can make it straight, wavy, curly etc or even rock it in its coily shrunken glory
Hey ItsFlora, thank you and you are so right. The versatility is great!
;)
This is 4C hair??? OMG!! You are giving me hope!!
Yep, PearlyPeach1!! 4C all day! :-)
Wow honestly by seeing your hair I would've thought "oh I'm not running a comb thru that" lol but at the same time it still looks healthy and yes a whole lot if shrinkage!!! You've inspired me not to just give up and give in to braids all the time to prolong my transitioning period! Beautiful hair and thanks for sharing!!!!!
Hi aja garcia! It was hard to let go of my transitioning period. I keep those permed ends for a long time even though I know it was breaking daily. One day I decided that 1) I was doing styles that did not show how long my hair was anyway 2) I wanted to see and experience how my hair looked and felt with the stringly ends 3) I knew that if I did not cut my hair that the hair would split into my natural texture... So, one day I just stood in the mirror and cut off all the permed ends. At first, I was like, "what have I done?" lol but the next moment after and I washed my hair for the first time and could really embrace the texture, I thought it was so beautiful and I felt confident. I promise you that the next time I looked up my hair was longer than the length before I cut it!! No lie!
Your hair is exactly like mine..wow. plz do more videos. Thank you lots!
Will do, Thanks ashia williams!!
Omfg! So my hair type! Serious shrinkage I love it!
I absolutely love this video. I an currently finding more y videos on natural hair that resembles my 4c texture and it gets so frustrating sometimes... but seeing this gives me a major boost to keep pushing with my natural hair. I love it!
Alliyah Williams Keep pushing, it will work out just fine! :-)
Very inspiring! Your hair looks exactly like how mine looks, just longer. I don't see too many 4C women on here whose hair looks like mine! very encouraging to know my hair can grow to those lengths too! Thanks for sharing.
heartjt No problem. Thanks!
beautiful beautiful hair! glad I seen this video cause I'm close to giving uo on my 4c hair.
+ebony sneed Don't Give Up!!! You will get to know your hair and love it! You will not want any other type! :-)
Thank you! Girl, I was like all these 4C hair on UA-cam and mine DOES NOT look like that!! Your hair is exactly how my hair is...sometimes I'm just sooooo fed up with it! I will follow your vids to see what you do! Thanks for posting this.
Hi LT Cartwright! Yes, I understand! When I got feedback on my first video, I understood why people were suspect of my 4c hair. When I was trying to figure my hair out I would watch other videos and see that their hair was 4a or b with a "patch" of 4c someone in the middle or back but I knew my whole head was 4c! lol So thats why I did this video in this way!
Finally my hair type....shrinkage is the devil .sometimes I cant manage 😞
I understand. You will find ways to manage your hair through time.
Wow! as someone below said you give me hope! Having 4c hair seems like such a hard task, feels like I will never get to a point where it will have decent length. I have just started my journey today actually and will undergo the big chop by...spring into summer. Thank you so much for this video.
joy fagan, you will see length before you know it! Good luck on your journey!!
I have locs to the middle of my back (lower bra strap length) but your texture is totally what mine is if it were loose. It's also just as thirsty. Strong, healthy and beautiful. I think a major reason I started locs is because I could not deal with shrinkage. lol Keep making more videos, lady. I'm a fan :)
Hi raibri, I LOVE locs!! I've done a few hairstyles that are similar to locs because I like the way it looks. When I get to be about 50 or 60 years old (if not sooner), I am definitely locing my hair!
so glad to see a new video from you. your hair is beautiful! inspiring for us 4B-C girls
OMG My Hair Is Just Like Yours, Thanks For Sharing.
Thank You, Cookie Turner!
Simply BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thank you supynorr!!
4C has more protein layers which actually makes it the strongest. You just have to know how to manage YOUR hair. Your hair is absolutely beautiful btw(:
+Nia Myton Is that so? Interesting, thanks for sharing. And thank you for the compliment!
This is such an inspiration! Been stuck at collar-length for a long time, and it's good to see that with patience, I should be able to grow my 4C hair longer.
Absolutely ladycaruso!! Thank you!!
same here I'm stuck at collar length too
Goodness, tht looks like 10c hair! Bless your heart.
Kay Sealy- LOL Yea, it's one of a kind!
Hi Alexis, thank you for your videos. I have 4C hair and I have just started to really take care of it. You give me hope with your length. I subscribed to your channel as I like the fact that you take time to reply to comments and that shows that you do care about what we the watchers are saying. Thank you
Thank you so much Jenny Lee, I appreciate that!
Nice!!! Waiting for the day my hair get to this length. Glad to see that 4C hair can grow that long and healthy. I always knew but the proof just makes it that much better. Love my 4C :-)
Sydney Law Yes, don't worry, you will just look up one day and it will be longer than you imagined.
When I had long 4C hair, I only combed it with conditioner in a filtered shower everyday then I long pick lifted it into a style wet with a little moisturizing conditioner. I kept the ends infrequently clipped even. Keep hair out of sun. Moisturize & water inside & out. My hair was gorgeous and the feel was fantastic. I tied it up at night.
Thanks great Love Light!!
THANK YOU for sharing this video!!! I get so discouraged looking for vids of people with hair like mine and my daughters'--how to wear cute styles, how to blow dry straight, how to not look matted down or otherwise be stuck with an afro puff in order to look neat and clean cut--in my environment, because I'm sure that statement offends some, but that's another story. It seems that all of the cute, neat, and more versatile styles are for people who have much softer CURLS than me and mine. And we've lost a lot of hair and TIME, in spite of all of my hard work. And I have given in and gotten our hair relaxed, but we've all been natural again for about two years. This is so encouraging. I will look for more videos from you!
Thanks so much Karen Williams, I have another video coming up soon!
Thank you for sharing. Your hair is gorgeous
Tennitra Newsome Thanks so much!!
Thanks so much Jacida Dave, I really appreciate your kind words!! When I first started transitioning I braided my hair and wore wigs. Then I was started to wear braid outs which is a good style that blends your natural and permed hair together. Once I cut my permed ends off, I started to retain all of my length as my hair grew.
please post more videos...we need more women like you with the same hair type. thanks for posting ;)
Will do, Thank you dee pennywell!!
I started going natural in April but have been having single braids ever since because I have no idea how to handle this type of hair lol. Once I get out of highschool I'll probably be more confident with it and try some of your procedures. Nice video and hair~
Hi MinyBeats, as Naturalista411 stated, you can do it now. The sooner the better!! You can do hairstyles that last for two weeks or more at a time to make it easier on you!
Alexis BD Oh well, I mean I chopped off all my relaxed hair in April, not exactly started I guess haha I started earlier than that. I wear braids now.
***** Yes, however you decide to wear your hair while it grows out is definitely up to you. Do what you are most comfortable with. You do want to make sure you are taking care of her hair underneath and still keeping it moisturized. As you saw, I wore wigs for a while before I started doing braid outs.
Your hair is so long and beautiful! I love it
SweetiePie07 Thanks so much!
Your hair is beautiful!
+Ana Maria Nzang Thanks so much!! :-)
I agree
so beautiful and LOOOONG!!!:) love your channel!
C Lovely Thanks so much!
Your coils are curls.
thank you i wish more people knew that
Yes, they are.
what do you mean, mopomopo100?
yea, my hair is this texture as well. This hair Will have a clear CURL pattern if you know how to set it. If saturate with conditioner. Rinse, preferably with cool (without touching too much) just let the water run through your hair Leave some conditioner in the hair. Let it drip dry. NO towel drying at all. You will have clear and defined curls. I worked as a stylist in curly hair salon and I always had girls who would swear to me I will not get a natural curl from their hair. And they were all pleasantly surprised. All natural hair has a curl pattern.
You gave me so much freakin hope! The journey has been tough but I think I can handle this!
Absolutely, you got this Sapphire Truthe!!
Love it this is my hair type and I love 4c hair nice vid
Thank you 1205snaby!!
