    Omg... Finally someone not lying about their hairgrowth on UA-cam. I just came from another youtuber's video and I can tell straight away that her hair growth she claimed is short of impossible.
    Your hair looks good girl. I have the same hair type as you, and your 4 year length is right on mark with normal hair growth. My hair is 3 years and 4 months and seems to be on track to getting to your length :)

      Hi trizzytrix! Yes, I don't understand why people overstate their growth either. Maybe they just want to draw people in to watch their video because they know that others want to grow hair as fast as possible- and that's unfortunate.I don't even click on videos that claim to grow unnatural amounts of hair in a short period of time.

    Really enjoyed your video. I love your curls! I hope that more kinky, coily, curly women and girls will find out what their own hair loves and needs and care for it accordingly. I find it very relaxing to care for my transitioning hair...it's almost like bonding with myself, or meditating. Weird. but really...it becomes a treasured time of the day or week.
    I find it odd-- and disturbing-- when people make comments on natural hair videos "Well you're not 4c" or "She obviously has 'good' hair anyway". Good hair is the hair on your head; learn what it loves and-- barring any medical conditions an other outward circumstances-- your hair will love you back.

    Your hair looks great!
    I've been wanting to get my hair flat ironed for my '1 year natural' big turnout, but I'm deadly afraid of heat damage! So I'm going to my long time trusted stylist!
    I hope my curls revert back like yours dead! And I'm not left with whispy fried up hair LOL

    my hair is really thick 4c hair, like thick to the point that it hurts to put my hair in one pony tail lol...what tips can you give on what to put in your hair to maintain straightness? I've straightened my whole head about twice in my life and I tried to do a test run for my graduation in a month on a small section...stayed straight for 30mins and went puffy! Much help needed!

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair
      @AlexisBDNaturalHair  9 років тому

      +Londons Rock Hi, in regard to the pony tail...lol i gave up ponytails a long time ago. I actually would use a banana clip to hold my hair. If I tried to use a ponytail holder it would be break. I had the same issue with straightened hair and heat. I had my hair straightened professionally and it stayed straight for over a week. But that is the longest I could go. Otherwise it would last for a few hours max and start getting puffy..within a few days it looks like I just had a blow out. I accepted that my hair does not like to be straight.

    @Ahdree23 10 років тому +1

    Its almost impossible to heat damage 4c hair! You gotta use like 500 degree everyday on it in order for it to take 6 months to get heat damaged lol. My hair reverts immediately also.

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair
      @AlexisBDNaturalHair  10 років тому

      Ahdree23 Really? Do you happen to know why? I don't use heat that often and I'm not sure of the difference in heating with different textures.

    • @Ahdree23
      @Ahdree23 10 років тому +1

      I really don't know, I know I've used 500 degree heat on my hair with a couple of passes and it poofed right back up within minutes. It never thinned, never burned. It is just very heat resistant and resilient.

    • @skam2081
      @skam2081 10 років тому +3

      Ahdree23
      I think it depends on each people's hair and how you proceed maybe. I got a heat damage after going to the hairdresser not so long ago and I had to cut half of my length at the front :( (the only bit that was flat ironed). It was as flat as if it was relaxed it even when I'd washed my hair and it smelled horrible. So yeah I cut that and the remained hair at the front had loser curls; now I cut it gradually as if I was transitionning :) . I have fine hair with high to medium porosity; maybe that's why it's so prone to damage

    When you wash and detangle, do you always experience shedding? Or when you style your hair do you shed then also?

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair
      @AlexisBDNaturalHair  9 років тому

      Twix12010 It was when I washed and detangled. Not usually when I styled my hair.

    hi lovely hair...We have same hair texture i mean like exact same ...i need your advice on breakage cos my hair doesnt seem to be growing anymore and i know i have fast growth, i'm also having scalp issues dandruff and itching. Have you had similar experiences?if any pls share and advice

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair
      @AlexisBDNaturalHair  10 років тому

      Hi davinna sydney! Breakage: I manipulate my hair as least as possible! I do long term protective styles that I barely have to touch, other than moisturizing (like my bun!). I keep my ends tucked in to avoid my hair splitting and breaking off at the ends. Dandruff & Itching: I do get an itchy scalp every now and again even if I've done a recent wash. SO- what I have found that works for me is Apple Cider Vinegar rinses. There are some videos here on youtube you will be able to find right now!!

    You have nice hair, however, I wish you would have been more thorough, and more organized, in putting your video together. The lighting was poor, and it seemed you stayed flat ironing one small section in the front, and you did not part your hair off, so that you didn't have some of the previously flat ironed in a clip.

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair
      @AlexisBDNaturalHair  10 років тому +2

      Jacqueline Howard Thanks! And I know lol, I'm not really a vlogger. And it was not a tutorial. I was just showing my process and what my hair looks like when its flat ironed.

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair

      Diviniti Oshun I kept my hair either in a large bun at the top or in two strand twists. I loved the twists so much I went on and got locs!

    • @divinitioshun9229
      @divinitioshun9229 9 років тому

      I just saw them on another video of yours and they are beautiful! I want dreads too but I want to keep out a little hair for bangs and I'm not sure if that would look right or not but I feel like it would allow me to be versatile with them...

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair
      @AlexisBDNaturalHair  9 років тому +1

      Diviniti Oshun I love my locs but honestly, i just woke up one day and missed my loose hair! lol I don't what I am going to do.

    • @divinitioshun9229
      @divinitioshun9229 9 років тому

      Alexis BD Well I love your honesty about it all. I've leaning towards locks for about a month now hardcore but I do have thoughts about wanting to switch it up sometimes because I am very unfaithful with hairstyles lol. Dreads do seem to be very versatile though, there are many things you can do with them, you can dye them, curl them make bangs, etc...

    What don't you finger detangle?

    • @AlexisBDNaturalHair
      @AlexisBDNaturalHair  9 років тому

      I did used to finger detangle for regular maintenance. The whole process took an entire day because I would loose strand twists the small sections at the same time to keep it from drawing up again! Lol
