We tend to underestimate GT7, it's a masterpiece of a racing game. I love to drive classic cars on Goodwood, it's one of the best experiences I have with the game, especially on VR.
I agree. There is a special feel to taking classics around there
You guys are playing gt7 on PS5 right? Not available on pc?
THIS 👍
@@TheRedBaron_01yes not available on pc!
In vr it turns into a car-porn game and the racing becomes almost secondary
My favorite “mini game” that I’ve created for myself is taking completely stock road cars on the Nordschleife, saving the ghost laps and putting my favorite cars head to head. I can do it for hours at a time and it’s hard to stop.
Same 👌✌️😎
Classic! I used to do the same thing with GranTurismo4 when I was a teenager. And then modding them bit by bit to see how much faster I could beat my lap times.
YUP. Unfortunately my 5-600 PP leaderboard is too full and i lose my times
@@nuckels188 same!
Sounds like a good time.
I have a strong preference for Laguna Seca because I've done track days there and watched Rossi battle Stoner.
I am a contractor for Lexus dealership and got a chance to hear LFA rev to the limit inside of the dealers inside parking spot. It blew my mind. One of the greatest car sound ever heard.
Did you wait the engine to heat up to do that?
@@DanielFenandes it wasn't me, it was employee, and yes - it was heated up - it was an event and this engine was running almost whole day.
Nice. I’ve seen too many times people turning the engine on and reving it up right away, which is not good for the engine
Agreed. Sounds like nothing else between buildings too.
@DanielFenandes google mag.lexus v10 lfa and understand how bullet proof this engine is sir.
With all the focus on competitive racing, I think we tend to forget that the Real Driving Simulator is at it's best when you pick your favorite car, your favorite track, and just.... drive.
It’s all i really do, i used to love competitive racing, but i cant find enough time to be “competitive”
And i just end up driving a rotary swapped miata around the ring
It’s mesmerising
funny fact: this Dutch license plate is also registered on a yellow Lamborghini murcielago in real life😂
GT7 is a playground for car enthusiasts. I’m glad you highlighted how amazing the game really is. It’s especially great in PSVR2, it’s totally immersive in these fantastic cars and tracks
I work permanent nights 12 hours. So on my nights off when all my mates and family are in bed I just put my vr2 on and cruise around in my enzo in my own world. Absolute bliss. For anyone wondering, the Enzo is absolutely incredible as it comes as standard. Brilliant traction and front end grip with enough manipulation available to throw the back end out and drift it beautifully.
mine is full tune and it goes well over 400kmh
@@andresprit9734 I wouldn't dare tune it lol. It's staying perfectly standard. It's beautiful.
Been playing this damn game for 2 years now and havent had the invitation for Ferrari, how did you get yours??
@@wills8856 dudee pure luck. i’ve received two invites in this game so far and both were ferrari so i went whatever and bought all three invite ferrari cars
@@nextgengaming7803 completely understand and respect your style, i’m more of the how fast can i make this go type 😂
I love driving road cars in GT7, the suspension model is amazing.
Great time to make use of VR! I'll have to spend a day with all onscreen info off and just enjoy the drive and sound
Goodwood is a firm favorite on my stream. Funnily enough, we are doing numerous races there tonight (including three championship races) and I just can't wait to get back on that track
Maybe one day, the technology will be there to link a GT7 successor to Google maps - imagine "I'm just off for a drive dear, Stelvio pass then a pose around Monaco......"
No dont even...Im salivatating...🤤🤤
I’d love to cruise Route 66 in a Mustang in VR…god that would be insane
This is 'exactly' why I started my randomised lobby racing. It is so nice to simply enjoy some of the cars and tracks in the game. We did a historic evening recently, and it was awesome in the ford, Ferrari and Jaguar.
Sounds like fun 😊
would love to know what lobby is it, to come join and have fun with you ! :)
@@fredericgautier676we are on Monday to Friday from 21:00 UK time. It is a private lobby, so you would need to be a friend of mine. Happy to accept a friend request from you. Drop into the stream chat sometime to meet the guys and see how we roll. We have rules and penalties to try to keep the racing clean.
The historic race car night was one of our Friday specials.
I livestream everything, so you can easily check us out before if you would like.
Yes I recently have been exploring GT7’s online lobbies and it’s freaking awesome. Just added a whole new layer to the game for me and makes the customization even more fun when you go to car meet / cruise lobbies. I’m always looking for the realistic No hesi servers cruising on the Tokyo expressway with road cars.
In VR any course is incredible, but the night courses in VR in an open top , especially Daytona with fireworks...the best gaming moment since I played Space Invaders in the 70s.
Spa at night with an open top is amazing. The stars!
My favorite video of your channel so far. This is what Gran Turismo has always been about: A pure love of driving a car. A love letter to car culture.
I drive a lot of cars in GT7 just for no reason other than I got the itch. A lot of muscle cars just to feel them going into corners and listen to those V8's roar.
One of my favorite old racers is the CLK LM '98 what a monster, love hearing that engine and exhaust note. It barely beats out the Sauber C9 due to better gearbox for crisp shifts and less turbo lag. Nothing beats the rumble of V8's shootings into your ears. I wish PD would get the E60 M5, something about that V10 makes you want to push it, it sounds unique to most V10 engines.
I've been doing GT drives since forever, but it really became a thing in GT5 time of day changes and Nurburgring Nordshleife addition, take some old school car and start at midnight and drive until dawn breaks. That was something to behold back on PS3.
Every weekend I search lobbies of Tokyo Expressway East Counterclockwise that say: car show, winner pick cat.. we drive up to the hairpin, judge our cars, then the winner pick a new category and we go again, or cruise lobbies are hella great as well where we take a full lobby and night drive the nurburgring with flames shooting out of our streetcars. Doing all these livery work and cruises makes you really really appreciate the cars and especially the details in the models.
I’ve been doing this since I got the vr. Just driving for the sheer pleasure of it.
It really is nice to sometimes just get away from the racing and just drive...
Doing what you have done 'just drive' is what makes vr so good
Great content Rory. To drive with no HUD is a great experience, driving around tracks, listening the engine sound, the gearbox working, etc.
GT7 is really a true masterpiece.
OG Honda NSX glides around Suzuka. It's like a dream how well they pair together.
I've stood fewer than 3 feet away from a 787B cold starting (at Goodwood)... Biblical levels of noise! Like Brian Blessed gargling nectar.
One of the worst (and definitely the most overrated) sounding race engines in history
I was "lucky" enough to hear them in period and unfortunate enough to hear them at historic events.
They're embarrassing. Idiots mistaking "loud" with good.
You’re all by yourself on that one
years ago I had a same kind of experience with a 1989 Ligier F1 car firing up. And hearing it on track, love the historical races :)
"........It has a 6.2 liter SUPERCHARGED V8...........God Bless America!" LOL
REALLY enjoyed the run with the Mazda 787P. My first brand-new car was a Mazda Rotary - a 1974 RX-4 sedan. Got a RX-4 wagon a bit later, as well. Good memories.
In addition to driving the cars I also LOVE sitting back and just looking at them in the garage and Scapes. The car detail in the game is incredible. Some of the cars in the game are absolutely beautiful. Polyphony Digital knocked it out of the park with this game!!!
My favourite thing to do in GT6 was to just drive, drive and drive around Circuito de la Sierra in a powerful RWD car. Endless amounts of fun around that beautiful 27 km long track.
I was the same, but with FF and 4WD cars mostly. That track was gorgeous.
You really should be doing this in VR. It's a whole nother level.
Couldn't agree more. I just raced the WTC 800 at the Nurburing and watch a lap on reply with surround sound, never realised the bass from the dance music was picked up when you drive past certain parts of the crowd with the smoke from their fires blowing across the track. I love finding the new things and little touches like that. Mental 😱🤯
I've recently been doing this as well. I think it's what the game excels at. Most of the time we're just stuck behind the Grp. 3/4. cars for the daily races and we miss out on the incredible models in the game. If there ever was a 'correct' list of best sounding cars in the game, I think you nailed it, try Zonda R and some of the classic v8s (chevelle, camaro etc.)
I thought I was the only one that love's to run some road cars on GT7 it is super fun
I often throw my PSVR2 on and just hop in a car to go for a drive, often at the Nordschleife - its one of my favourite ways to unwind after a long day! Shelby Cobra, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, '98 WRX STI, Ford GT40, are among my go-to drives!
This has always been one of my favourite things to do in all Gran Turismo games. I particularly enjoy the Ford GT Race car (gt3) for the sound it makes. The noise it makes in the VR replays is insane. When the camera switches to a far away position you can hear this thing echo like crazy in PSVR2
Yeah... love to go for a drive too. The ultimate for me as a GT1-7 customer would be for PD to introduce an open world drive (with light traffic) in cities and the countryside.
Cheers, dd
This is my favourite part of Gran Turismo tbh, more so than sport mode. I love taking the AE86 around Tokyo at night, taking the Renault 5 Turbo around Alsace, the R32 around Fuji, the Countach around Monza. The iconic cars and iconic tracks are what make this game special. Sport mode enrages me lol
Rory its nice to see a video like this about GT7.. I have a lot of the same feelings and am glad I'm not alone. Its easy to focus on the negatives in online races, but at any moment, you can have your own little escape. Enjoy the drive.
Rory is a very smart content creator. He understands his audience and makes videos that are engaging as a result. This is definitely a step in the right direction for the Channel. Great job sir!
I was enjoying doing that on Gran Turismo 2 a few years before I got my driver license.
My copy of GT7 should arrive tomorrow, meanwhile I'm watching some videos, mainly from your channel and I gotta agree. My favorite part about GT always has been just taking my favorite car/track combo and going on time trial to chill
In GT5 days it kinda worked because there were unlimited course maker layouts but today, it's just driving around XXX-wide race tracks. GT should include not only tracks, but 'driving environments'.
Just driving or comparing lap times between cars on trial mountain is what i usually do when i go for the daily marathon. On occasion i do custom races using garage cars that perhaps replicate races from older GT titles. Ultra speed cup from GT 1, choose high speed ring and top tuned 90s cars to race against. PS : We should have 3 marathon rewards daily, one for the usual distance, one for 80 miles and one at perhaps 200 miles. 80 miles giving a higher chance of 5 star ticket and the 200 miles being a guaranteed 5 star or above.
What a great video. Goosebumps the entire time. I have been playing GT since GT2 and that has always been the best part just being able to drive either your dream car or that exotic you only see on TV. THANK YOU for bringing me back to the roots of why we do this.
I can't go past the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Absolute pleasure to drive especially around Nordschleiffe.
That car, with the 991 RSR ‘17 engine swap, is my best Nürburgring lap time. Great fun.
I agree the dodge are too fast can't control them. The best handling are those two porsches and the red bull but again they're more f1 type lol
I’ve won at Le Mans so many times with the 787B in GT Sport. Even when the fuel multiplier was a compromising difference. I found a way to win or make a Top 5 finish. Even though I may haven’t won with it yet on GT7 l. It’s still one of my a absolute favorite cars. Just screaming down the straight always over 200+ mph.
This has always been my style in Gran Turismo - finding combos of track, car, and tuning that let me just drive and vibe. My current obsession is the K-swapped Abarth 595 SS. If you set it up very conservatively, it becomes a shockingly predictable little rocketship. Drives like a 60's race car, sliding around and waiting for an overcorrection. Or put the Moon Tune in it and do power wheelies at 180mph.
That and the LFA-swapped Alphard are good for hours of "this is the stupidest car in the world and I love it so so much" entertainment. Give it a whirl.
Thank you for helping me to enjoy life. Seriously, I love VR, but just realized I’m stuck in the dailies focusing on racing/getting into A…
Agreed!! Plus with VR I can drive old school muscle cars I wish I owned and experience cars like the La Ferrari in as close to real life as I'll get❤
I'm a sucker for a pretty face, and GT7 really is a beautiful game. Looks great, sounds great, nice physics, VR, pretty good DD FFB.. I'm glad it exists. ✌
That new video is an absolute vibe.
I’m in between calls & just watched it.
It’s amazing how something thought provoking just makes me want to get some random cars on track. Something I never do anymore, just jump into daily’s.
A nostalgic trip in that video Rory that’ll hit many I’m sure.
Certified Banger. 👊🏻👏🏻🍍
The Porsche GT3 RS is my favourite road car in the game as it’s just so good to drive.
This has always been GTs main selling point!
Agreed. Sometimes i just cruise on the Nordschleife for hours while listening to my playlists on Spotify. Best feeling ever!
You'll appreciate driving old cars at Goodwood. Like the Renault R8 Gordini, just floats through the corners
Yeah, there is something special about sliding around on that track in those old classics, especially '65 Mini for me.
i wish there were more road courses in this game. i feel like if polyphony would make an open world driving game, they would excel at it
Oh man! It’s just amazing how much joy you can bring with this video, Rory! Being very honest, I wish PD hire you to do this sort of videos for the Cafe Menus cars presentation. Amazing work, mate!
The Murciélago is my favourite car of all time. such a beautiful piece of automotive craftsmanship. very closely followed by the Huracan and the ferrari F430
What a great video man, this is definitely something we are all guilty of forgetting about. GT7 is an amazing game to take a car and as you said, just drive. I do this with a few tracks and my R34 because its probably the closest ill get to owning one, mainly because I can't stop crashing on them😂 but yeah this is fun🤙
@Rory please, please ! Stock AC Cobra, Nordschleife. Cockpit Cam, BUT most important: Cockpit settings "Type 2" where the Cam is connected to the Helmet not the car. One of the Best experience in the Game.
That was whole life with GT3 :D With testing minute engine or aero tweaks with jdm tuned stuff for hours :D
Still like to just take the favs for a spin on my own in GT7 :)
Love the slower stuff like Miatas, MR2s and such, but supercars are great as well 🤌🏻
i'm pretty sure that you are aware but try this with vr. before using vr, i was not really fond of legend cars, some road cars...etc but vr changed this crazily. for example driving that ruf ctr3 is such a fun!
The old Alfa Romeo pebble beach car is insanely loud I love the ear piercing sound
People complain about the game a lot. They are the same ones who never just randomly choose a car with 0 on the odometer and take it to a race.
Cool Video Rory. I totally agree! My favorite car to just drive was the first one I bought as soon as I had the credits: Camaro ZL1 1LE. A monster of a car that sounds beautiful and handles any track you put it on with ease. God Bless America Indeed!!
Hi Rory. This vid popped up in my feed and can honestly say that it has breathed life back into GT7 (for me). I dont think I can go back as playing the game like this is epic.
I don't even race in GT7, I'm in the Nurburgring paddock (when it's not broken) and run maxed out corvettes and vipers with others, we just go around the track as fast as we can in 1000hp corvettes cruising hard, drifting, freestyle chill zone driving. Love it. Barely do any racing at all b
Rory, I agree with all! But it’s missing the Aston Martin Valkyrie that is my favorite to just drive it! Psvr2 makes all this cars more fun to drive it!
I love cruising in convertibles with the in-car view. Shelby Cobra around Grand Valley is right up there for me.
You gotta try the Ford GT LM spec II Test car.
The sound and feeling of the shifting with an butt kicker type setup while in VR is something else you feel those shifts like nothing else.
P.S great to see you just enjoying the cars and bringing you genuine happiness 😁
Literally all I do now with this game, custom races with any car that I find interesting, the vibes are immaculate
This is how i played this gem of a game for the most part of 800+hrs.
Pick 3 fitting cars each day and make my own menu. Get to know each one, pick a favorite, tune, do some time trials and races & have fun.
Rinse & Repeat.
There are still like ~50 cars i'd like to try.
Aventador tuned up to the max for dragon trail seaside is a blissful yet tameable beast. Wish I could share my tuning with you.
Your passion for driving really comes across in this excellent video. Thanks so much for making it Rory. All the best Sir.
If you really want an awesome experience “Just driving” in GT7 you HAVE to try it in PSVR2!
Good video Rory, I think I am like you, I just like driving all the cars that I managed to get gifted or buy, on race tracks as fast as I can. It was never really about racing other people or AI just about the cars and driving them and having the chance to do it in a simulation when I’m never going to get a chance in real life.👍🏽
PSVR + No hud + Steering wheel + GT7 = Perfection
The only thing I would love for gt7 to change is the payout on the online daily races.
One of your best videos.
Driving on GT7 for pure enjoyment is way more thrilling than racing.
I rarely race online (truth is I'm not very good at racing anyway, so I just load up the Nurburgring and cruise with the volume on max!!)
Looks true to life at the start of the video.
I would have loved to see you enjoy some of the older skylines and even the R34 Rory. I hope there will be more of these.
Throughout the video i kept saying to myself "Ahhh, my favorite car to just drive and get immersed is without a doubt the 787B." My joy when it was the last one you drove 😭😭😭
💯 with you on the Mazda. The car gods will be happy with this vid. Now I see where all your in game credits went. Good job Mr A.
I've enjoyed the Gran Turismo series since the first was new, and 7 I also own and is pretty fun, but i also own an Xbox Series S, and Forza Horizon 4 is on another level in looks/feel/driving enjoyment for me.
When I want to play a game and pretend I'm taking my Viper for a joyride, that game takes 1st spot in my opinion. For some reason I can't quite put my finger on, GT7 feels more like I'm playing a simulator instead of actually driving.
They really nailed the sounds. When i drove the R92CP i was in awe. GT7 is a masterpiece.
3 cars every update may not be a lot but 3 cars in this much detail is actually a heck of a lot and is building the roster steadily with a keen eye do quality over quantity
This game is unbelievable in VR. A childhood‘s dream come true.
Great video! I love the change of pace, this vid & the tip video. Two recommendations off the top of my head - The alpine 220 race car. Something about that v8 turbo sounds insane. The mark 4 race car, every time I shift a gear in that thing it puts a smile on my face.
I love driving in GT. I also like racing offline in GT, but my biggest issue with the game is how silly it is that every race is a unreal and ridiculous "race from back to front" where you have to overtune the car in a stupid way instead of just being a good driver. The game needs qualifying (optional) and standing starts in the "career" mode so it is much more enjoyable and rewarding.
superb Rory
that gt3 RS is just blazing fast. With a tiny engine tuning it is actually almost as fast
This is what I do most of the time, I don't do the sport stuff or competition, I just test drive all the cars on all the tracks...
So many combinations...
I’ve had so much fun just joining multi player lobbies and just cruise, countless hours and builds it’s recently I’ve been Racing in competitive Sport
I've been doing this in GT5 and GT6 for over a decade. Just driving and driving and driving. I've spent so much time in the Nordschleife, with all kinds of cars.
GT5 is specially good with the 125cc kart in custom tracks.
I imagine the experience in GT7 might be considerably better. They improved car sounds a lot after GT Sport.
In usually make a point of doing the weekly challenge races in VR with no Hub, and use the shifter for cars with shifters, to get the full appreciation of this game. It really is a master piece.
I put in over 300 hours on GT sport. Everything post career progress was exclusively on the ring. The ring is my home
Nothing like the sound of a four rotor revving. Got to hear one in person at a Seven Stock.
Gran Turismo’s forte is cars on the track, but I can’t help but wonder how great it would be if an open world version was made of this franchise. Obviously it wouldn’t be Gran Turismo anymore, but I can only dream.
I would love to see GT7 incorporate some roads from around the world - I love scapes so I would love the ability to drive around in scenery like that.
As great as the Wankel sounds at 9k, the idle in race trim sounds like you have 20 seconds left to get the popcorn out of the microwave before it gets burned. But chest thumpingly loud.
Stock Cobra on Nordschleife - WITH "type2" Cockpit view.
Discplay settings - cockpit- wobble type 2
Spa is an immense place to drive around, competitively or just for fun.
Comforting to see some one that is actually good at this still goes off in the same places I do :) cool vid, going to do some of this now. 👍✌️
The only way to drive the 787B is with an actual manual. Heel and toe in that machine is AUTOMOTIVE NIRVANA. That's the way it was meant to be driven.
Great video mate. There are some cars you just drive and then some car you really drive.
One of the best maps in my opinion for just driving is Grand Valley Highway 1
