  • A chest workout, Thor's anger, and a fresh discovery. I'm ready.
Be mindful that I'd like to experience as much of this fresh as possible. No spoilers please.
    Give tips when:
    - I ask for them.
    - I'm doing something wrong.
    - I could be doing something better.
    DON'T give tips when:
    - They spoil the surprise or joy of discovery.
    - They're about things I haven't seen, unlocked, or otherwise shouldn't know about yet.
    - Finding out the hard way seems like more fun ;)

Going to be an exciting boss battle! Looking forward to it.

I actually like the rustic weather look. I even damage my furniture sometimes to give it a lived in look! 😉

I don’t mind it too much either, but it does look nice all polished up.

Looking forward to Boss fight number 5,
should be a good one. :D
    00:58 Well now it's not a spoiler,
I'm sure there were a few of us,
who all had that DiCaprio TV meme moment in ep.67 @1:02:53
when we spotted those curved stones of Yagluth's alter
but you didn't want spoilers... so we said nothing...
12:51 Ah, that takes me back, fun game.
Though the cultivator is a poor substitute for a proper pitchfork. XD
36:22 Yes, there is a random factor to how long things take,
there's a max and min value, to give it a window of occurrence.
1:25:07 Thor, Odin's son, protector of mankind,
riding his twin goat driven chariot across the sky.

I can't speak for Blondie's thinking, but I reasoned that potentially spending the next 5-10 episodes sailing in the wrong direction with no progression would be a lot less fun for him than being vaguely nudged to investigate something he'd already "found" and marked for later exploration--especially since he'd recently said something about feeling ready to move on from plains. I'm glad that we're all taking seriously his desire to discover things himself.

      @@CatspawAdventures Oh totally fair.
But given Blondie's luck in this series
he'd have probably sailed straight into another altar XD
On the topic of the Plains boss, the marker/Vegvisir stones,
they are something that one can level criticism at the game for.
The way the game builds a narrative of where to look,
you go to the Black Forest and find markers in
      underground dungeons and stone towers.
Then you go to the Swamp and it's the same.
You head up into the Mountains and again
it's the same as the last two biomes,
      underground dungeons and stone towers.
Then you venture into the Plains
and well, there are no underground dungeons
      but there are stone towers,
so given what the game has taught you, so far,
you would expect that's where you'd need to look
      to find this boss marker.
But no... no matter how many towers you search you'd never find a Vegvisir.
      It's a completely new structure,
that hardly spawns and when it does, almost never has a Vegvisir.
So if you didn't look at the wiki,
you might just think these structures were just like the stone circles of the Meadows,
a featureless point of interest that you could run right past.

    • @CatspawAdventures
      @CatspawAdventures Місяць тому +2

I think the vegvisir can also spawn at the back of those little stone altars with the single stairs up the center leading to a chest. But yes, you're right about the (poor) conveyance in this part. I love a lot of things about the plains, but the search for the boss can be its own battle.

There were other priorities on that voyage so that’s understandable.
Nice to have the random factor confirmed, cheers.
Geez man, Valheim is apparently teeming with gods which I never noticed 😅

To the best of my knowledge, mushrooms grow in batches of 3, 5 or 6. Anywhere there are boars or their spawn locations, you will find mushrooms nearby.

Yep, that was our friendly neighborhood god of thunder! Well spotted. And hey, happy to help--I'm glad I got a bonus out of rewatching old episodes. :) I'm super-hyped for the coming battle!
Mushroom patches can spawn in various quantities. I've seen one alone, and I've seen up to 8 or 9 of them in one spot (which were likely a double patch). What I usually do every time I find mushrooms is flatten the area under them with the hoe then mark the map with "MRx", where x is the number of mushrooms in that spot. I do the same thing with raspberries (RBx) and blueberries (BBx).

I suspect that some of those batches I marked were doubles. I swear someone once mentioned they spawn a max of 5 per batch but I’m not staking my life on that.
I had noticed something in air during a lightning storm but rationalized it as a quirk of the game, like a spawned object which acts as a lead for lightning as it tracks across the sky. That, and I haven’t had many intense lightning storms 😝

When I drain a tar pit and I don't want the Growths to respawn (they will) I put a campfire at the very bottom (usually in the tar puddle at the bottom). It doesn't have to be lit to prevent spawns.

I think it is a shame and a waste that you cannot take over the sealed towers when you have cleared them. I think it is only fair that you get the chance to inhabit the towers and caves you clear as part of the questline. Imagine how cool it would be to set up a base in one of them.

    • @trengilly01
      @trengilly01 Місяць тому +3

They can't because the tower is indestructible. You would have a 100% safe base from raids.

@@trengilly01 It's not currently set up this way, but it'd be nice if after the miniboss was defeated, the tower model was swapped out for a destructible one the same way that rocks get swapped out for fragmenting versions when they first receive damage.

Ahhh... I thought I saw something when you sailed by and had to go rewind and watch it in 0.25 speed... Thing is tho, during my first playthrough with my friend it took us soooo long to find the plains boss that I didnt want to give you any tips whatsoever, not because I'm cruel, but because first playthrough experience can never be repeated. Either way, nice work Blonde.

I did give it some hard thought about whether to pursue this info but ultimately decided that:
      1. People have offered other tips re. stuff I’ve missed which set a precedent.
      2. Catspaw didn’t say explicitly what it was he saw, just gave me a timestamp.
      3. I don’t want to drag you guys through another 10-15 eps trying to find the spawn.
      This was the right call.

@@Blondefire_HeyBlondie For sure, on my other play throughs after my first I found the boss much faster cuz I just looked for the spawn location and not the boss locator, so it happens a lot faster in the future. The boss locator for plains is so small and in such a random spot that it can take ages to find.
