  • A fowl coop, hunger games, and Mortal Kombat. It has begun!
Be mindful that I'd like to experience as much of this fresh as possible. No spoilers please.
    Give tips when:
    - I ask for them.
    - I'm doing something wrong.
    - I could be doing something better.
    DON'T give tips when:
    - They spoil the surprise or joy of discovery.
    - They're about things I haven't seen, unlocked, or otherwise shouldn't know about yet.
    - Finding out the hard way seems like more fun ;)

Mobs won't "see" through grates and such, but they will sense other things through the walls depending on proximity.

I'm confident you will enjoy (or at least appreciate) the Mistlands. Its got a bit of a love/hate relationship with the fan base due to some 'challenge' it presents . . . but there are plenty of unique things to do and discover! And I'm pretty sure you are well up to the challenge.
Looking forward to the discoveries and seeing how you approach things. 🙂

Nice job . . . Blodie is the master of the kite and shoot approach! It goes fairly quickly with frost arrows. That's two bosses in a row where you never got close enough to see their melee actions! I usually mix up melee and frost arrows . . . its quicker but more dangerous.
Pro tip . . . you might want to actually use the Fire resist potion next time! 😉 Just keeping it in your back pocket doesn't do much!

I enjoy ranged builds, what can I say 😂
Kinda like the swamps and poison resist, there haven’t been many occasions where I felt compelled to use the fire resistance potions. Perhaps there’ll be more situations in future to encourage it.

Mobs generally don't 'see' through screens/gates. As for seeing over walls . . . as long as the wall comes up to your head, you are fine. Basically any 2 meter wall piece is enough. Your front garden walls are twice as high as needed, just remove the top row and nothing will see you. 😉 I actually really like mixing wood and stone . . . things like 2x1 foundation pieces with spike wall or regular wood walls on top. You can also use the snapping points and free place to do things like 'sink' stake walls half way into stone so that only the spikey top shows, etc.
I had to laugh 😉. . . after complaining the front looks like a prison . . . you go on to make a larger prison yard in the back! 🤣
As for animals and noise . . . I find it best to keep animals away from the exterior walls since they will hear wandering mobs and get agitated (possibly attracting the mobs and stopping them from doing whatever egg laying/breeding they normally do.)

I want to do something fancy with the front, the walls are just a placeholder for random bs. Nice to know that they have things covered though.
Oh, I wanted to make something nice in the backyard too but ran out of time to finish it. The plan remains the same, hopefully it’ll look good when finished.

Fantastic fight! You handled Yagluth really well, went in prepared and had the area around mostly cleared, so you didn't get adds drawn in during the battle. Well done. Onward to the Mistlands!
Now that you have the back yard walled in, don't forget to spawn-proof it--some sconces around the inner walls would not only add some much-needed light, but each will (like any other "player base" object) suppress spawns in a 20-meter radius. It would suck to have your chickens die to a random greyling who spawned just inside the walls.
Speaking of which, you may also want to consider moving the chicken coop a little further in. They're protected from direct attacks, but incidental AOE attacks (like a troll log or shaman poison) aren't blocked by geometry. Same mechanic that lets you sledge things on the other side of walls.

      Thank you, my friend!
Hmm, that’s a good point, I’ll reassess the chicky placement. It also needs to expand, and I should drop an incubator in there too. I’ll have a think on the design.

Fiiiiinaly he repair the house.. that was more satisfying than killing the boss.. :p more of that please
    - These epic doors doesn't belong to a backyard c'mon.. :(
    - And an advise: When you eventually go to the mistlants take with you in the boat the materials for a stonecutter and a forge. You can also find them there but is more quick this way..
    - Great episode :)

I’ll do more base improvement stuff soon. I’ll try and incorporate it into more episodes but I’m really enjoying the exploration atm.

    Congrats on beating the boss,
and you even managed to stay far enough away
that you missed one of it's attacks :D
14:48 Yeah, mornings in the Plains are like living near the coast,
sometimes you just have to wait for the sea fret to burn off.
35:05 Your inventory has an order of usage to it.
So you can stack your ammo so it'll use the correct one next. ;)
Now you have your little friend with you, to light the way,
have fun peeking through the gloom as you hop skip and jump
your way through the terrain of the next biome.

      Haha, so I hear 😬
Mist is lovely atmosphere but horrid for exploration.
I remembered that afterward, but I wish there was still basic logic which dictated auto-switching to the same type of arrow if another stack exists. Most games manage this, feels like a QoL oversight with Valheim.

Yes there are other uses for Wisps . . . but you need to unlock them by finding new materials.

To think this is the same Blonde who couldn't hit the water if he fell out of a boat in the middle of the ocean ... is now robin hooding his way through the game just shooting everything and not even taking damage practically...

Well fought Sir! Probably the least problematic Yag battle I’ve ever seen 😂😂
Onwards to the Mistlands and the challenges that await there 👍👍

I didn’t want to say anything in the video but it felt a little too easy for the ranged approach (albeit long winded). It would have made the fight more pressing if his meteor attack didn’t require LoS, or if he moved almost as fast as I could run. Oh well, it was still fun, and the music was incredible.
I’m looking forward to Mistlands and what lies beyond the mysterious fog.

@@Blondefire_HeyBlondie You had a mix of a good ranged strategy and some fortune RNG for the fight to have gone as easily as it did, but full credit to you. The mistlands is a lot of fun and know you’ll have a blast playing through it 👍👍

Congrats Dude. I died 3 times before I eventually got him. I wish I tried the kiting route. I did it all melee and it took me a LONG time to finish him. Have to admit that combat music is banging though.

I hear that melee can be quite brutal. Perhaps that’s a challenge for next time. The music makes it worth the effort.

'How did that miss!' . . . honestly I'm not sure how an arrow actually hits and damages a blob in the first place! 😉

Never seen the dizzy-go-round method work like that before, I wonder if you were just in the right spot for it all or if the devs changed Yag's behavior a little based on difficulty; or was he just dizzy!? There is a third attack but you kept him at arms length all the time and didn't see it. Yag is probably my favorite boss fight to melee but to each their own eh.
I never fully understood the "they come at night mostly...mostly" admission before either; I do now, it's a clue!

The columns make it easy to keep him at bay, and the terrain was uneven enough to make his traversal perhaps more ponderous than flat ground.
