This is a quote from a Canadian poet! The poem goes: To unlearn grass and sky in favour of next and why, to relinquish the soft, uncertain edges of the world for the cold hard steel of learning. This is the first knowledge I gained: that the mind is a knife, and cuts, always cuts, for its own sake.

“But strangely, as much as we can guess back on Earth from what they report-they’re all still _us._ For all they present, with tentacales and bumblebee wings, they still pee and argue, still party and mourn; everything that makes life what it is, all the weird worrying and terrible longing to belong, and why some weeks am I sad without reason, and how do I know a brave choice from a stupid one, and that morning. Why were you so cold with me? Did I offend you in a dream? And I walked you to work in that awful silence, the thing threshing like a bell between us, and when I came to meet you at the end of the day I was sure you were going to tell me you were leaving, when suddenly, you took my face in your hands and kissed me on the mouth so perfectly and by surprise my soul exploded right out the back of my head in way I’ve simply never been able to fold back inside, nor would I want to. What are we, but wanting, willing, dying things; out of the dirt, a little dance, then back under; mayfly creatures, twilight fandango; then cowering again to pray again that for whoever comes after, there’s laughter.” this might be the best exurb1a video yet
You made me go through the cliché and cynical reflexion about humanity's cyclical nature, feeling a incomprehensible nostalgia and longing for a future I will never live and finally, those last few minutes, brought me to the verge of tears. Beautifully written and narrated, beer truly is the best invention ever.
7:13 the slide show of memories that I haven’t experienced. The profound explanation to a humans existence as “wanting, willing, dying things. Out of the dirt, a little dance and back under. Praying again for whoever comes after there’s laughter.” Hearing those words in such a tone felt like I had my eyes briefly opened to my own mortality and place in the universe. Only to have them shut forcibly as if a higher being were saying “Come and see.”
Exurbia feels like slowly being led around a room full of the most beautiful art in existence through a tinted lens, and all of a sudden at the end your vision clears and you can see the masterpiece that he has created, step by step. Your writing has improved so much over the years I swear you've managed to nestle into a niche where punchlines make me tear up and existential outbursts of panic make me laugh, the association game that seems so random but instinctively congruent. @@user-rg5hb6jr7p "we should improve society somewhat" "AND YET YOU PARTAKE IN IT! CURIOUS!" Kind of response. Please tell me how I'm "profiting" exactly, what makes me immoral in this scenario, while you sit there and defend abusers with the excuse that they're beautiful intellectually in your eyes. Yes, I'm taking the time out of my day to leave multiple comments - because people like you refuse to hold him accountable for his actions. Because unlike you I broke out of my worship for him, my awe in him as a creator, and saw the person.
@@user-rg5hb6jr7p So quick question, you'd be OK if someone decided to aggressively attack you and, to put it in light terms, violate, provided they were "beautiful" enough intellectually? You'd be fine with them continuing on without consequences as though nothing happened, as if it didn't traumatize you? Do you know what empathy is at all?
@@user-rg5hb6jr7p The way you say "well nobody's perfect :)" like he didn't make her bleed or use her in his experiment without informed consent or take advantage of her mercy repeatedly... what have you done in your life that makes Exurb1a look like a saint in comparison, exactly? What consequences have you run from, that makes you shrug off what he did so easily?
@@user-rg5hb6jr7p To improve society we should probably stop letting violent and sadistic people get what they want so we don't resort to animalistic rulership where the strongest wins, and instead value empathy and consideration for others as a form of intelligence. Maybe we shouldn't be valuing people on how many pretentious words they can spit out in a string or how they make the same observation that we're simultaneously insignificant and insignificant in the universe or potentially non-existent altogether that thousands before them already shared. Living day to day isn't "profiting". I'd argue it's the opposite. If cruel people hadn't encouraged others to breed like rabbits - rather than acting like actually sapient beings with heightened intelligence - I wouldn't be here - and that would be a grand thing indeed, to never have to be trapped between a life I never asked for, surrounded by cruel people and their enablers (yes, you) and the biological drive to survive and avoid death baked into our DNA. It would have also meant you and the man you sing praises for could have done no harm, would have meant his victim could never have been harmed either. What do you think should be my answer to my life being inherently cruel, if not to self terminate - keeping in mind encouraging such a thing is against the law and the barrier of anonymity is thinner than one might expect. Does it comfort you to continue to worship the people who contributed to pain in this world? Do you think you will be spared when their gaze turns your way, if only you kiss their boots hard enough?

And when there’s no more problems to solve we act as if there were, keeping on looking for answers because thats what we’ve always known and done… EDIT: This is why some of the richest people are some of the unhappiest. If I was healthy, I would have bought everything you've ever created, all your books. But I'm dying, doesn't make sense for me to spend money material possessions. For all it's worth, you have given me one too many perspectives on life and I'm truly thankful for that. Thank you. May your curiosity never stop.
Or, you can buy the books, then spend time pondering and doodling within them. And once you've filled them with your you-ness, or once you feel too close to the edge, you can pass them off to someone else, so that they may ponder and doodle, changing the whole, taking a part of each of you. And the outcome, if ever a time exists for it, will be a unique line of thoughts and feelings from one to the next. An odd thing, filled with ramblings, and lines of "haha, I'm so smart, look at this oddness that I add because I'm so different.". Some will try and rectify or cover up their previous oddness, some will carry on, feeling a need to stick with their prior decisions, some will let was be what was, and change into what will be. "But why?", you might ask. Well, why not? I don't know your situation, so maybe you don't have time to ponder and doodle. But if not, what's stopping you?
To the contrary: I would say that if you're dying to be dead sooner than later, it makes all the sense to spend money on matters that are meaningful to you. Given that you no longer need monetary means to either survive or live.♡ Farewell with meaning, stranger!☆

I love how you convey your thesis of reality through art. I’ve been following your content for years and your worldview of this cosmic cycle is obvious throughout your work - where we came from, where we’re headed, why we should strive to attain peace within ourselves. At times you’ve painted a dystopian future, surely in some part due to the entertainment value, but ultimately I believe you explore those possibilities to contrast and frame your profound optimism. It always ties back to this moment - the possibility that there is a purpose for our existence; a purpose not realized at the end of a road, but along the road itself. And while you leverage your understanding of physics, philosophy, and consciousness studies, you only use these to uniquely portray your thesis as a story whereas another might attempt to formalize a thesis through rigorous logic; but you know that approach is unlikely to be taken seriously. Maybe there is a place for a more academic approach one day, but for now, and for most of us, your storytelling is a far more effective way to give a wide audience a glimpse of your worldview. That’s where the magic is anyway - seeing it, and seeing ourselves in it. I hope I’ve done your art justice by comprehending even a fraction your worldview. If so, I’m happy to have shared this vista with you.
This is not mere content for likes or profit, this is modern art, Philosophical mind coitus expressed in poetic storytelling, his words are hand picked like crotchets in a symphony that pierces your soul so deeply that you discover new depths yourself. 3:12 there's a cool paradox here if you think about it: If both parties agree to drink the cocktail, they would be acting maturely by accepting the end of the relationship and letting eachother go regarless if the drink works or not, thus finishing on good terms
Or they’re both bitter and in pain and they decide to meet to drown their miseries at the same time so neither one of them reminds the other what a shitstorm it actually was. Accepting a relationship ending doesn’t always mean finishing it on good terms. They think it was on good terms but the growth of character and acts required to end something on good terms never happened so really they’re just kidding themselves. Or not, I have no idea what I’m talking about
But you forget that they drink it not out of will but of obligation, cultural obligations pressures, the “well this is what everyone else does in this situation” sort of deal
an absolutely beautiful video by you once again. i recently watched “the answer is not a hut in the woods,” and while i don’t remember what you said verbatim, i clearly remember you talking about your fear and struggles of being a writer, because it stuck with me deeply. i just want you to know all those fears are completely fruitless because your writing is absolutely jaw dropping. i’m taken on a journey from start to finish every time i watch one of your videos. or maybe “experience” is that right word, since that’s more of what it feel like.
I let my guard down during the first half and did not expect that roller coaster... even made me cry. Well done once again, especially in reminding me of my arrogance (that "I am wise") while turning me to the present rather than to doom gloom into the unknown future. Well done, and thank you
Hey man, thanks a lot for this. I've been keeping up with you for years, and I legit cried at the end. It's true, that's how life goes, that's the way the cookie crumbles... so true, yet so simple... true happiness is possible to achieve..
A couple of years ago I introduced my girlfriend at the time to this channel and she fell in love with it. We are not be together anymore but I'm so happy to know that this video will pop up in her feed and fill her mind with this amazing cocktail of emotions, this dance of contradictions-hopeful and hopeless, curious yet apprehensive, caught between awe and dread about the future. For those interested to see, these videos provide such a poetic glimpse into the human condition and its a gift I'm very proud to have shared with someone I loved once.
I could sit under a tree with Platon right now, and he would ask me 'So what did you see?' And i would say 'Just.. the journey' He would slowly nod, pass me the blunt, and ask again 'But was it a good journey?' And after a deep inhale, with extra deep voice, I'd answer 'Yes. Maybe the best. A journey of pure and true beauty.' Again he would nod, and one of the greatest thinkers of all time would sit there in peace, for no more words are needed in that moment. There was a video once when you talked about a book, using language so well and just nice, it inspired you. You good Sir have the same effect - at least for me. The words you use, the stories you tell, the awakening of an adventurous mind that sometimes just needs the smallest steps for the biggest leaps.. Horrors and Living (a poem I wrote one time about a similar topic to this) Myriad of consciousness... In the future, people will be liquid, or generated; Death and Life will mean nothing And perhaps neither will the sun and moon Grass and trees replaced by wires Florescent nightmares of flesh and steel Neural mysteries and bleeding dreams; And from this, Time will keep going on. Eternally. There's no end, no beginning; After humanity rots and something else arises, And after they rot, too. Ouroborus' corpse will be eaten by another snake; A conquerer worm dies and then is fed upon. Angels dragged down and die, For the thing above them in the hierarchy, And the same occuring with demons. The endless ladder of existence never topples; Horrors forever written. But the experience of life will go on The stories worlds forge and creative development As long as that real heart keeps beating, The world is true.

You made me go through the cliché and cynical reflexion about humanity's cyclical nature, feeling a incomprehensible nostalgia and longing for a future I will never live and finally, those last few minutes, brought me to the verge of tears. Beautifully written and narrated, beer truly is the best invention ever.
I made tears

7:13 the slide show of memories that I haven’t experienced. The profound explanation to a humans existence as “wanting, willing, dying things. Out of the dirt, a little dance and back under. Praying again for whoever comes after there’s laughter.” Hearing those words in such a tone felt like I had my eyes briefly opened to my own mortality and place in the universe. Only to have them shut forcibly as if a higher being were saying “Come and see.”

Kind of response.

I don’t know what’s lead to your predictament but I hope it gets solved and even if it doesn’t that you will be remembered.

I didn’t think of it that way. Yikes
Or they’re both bitter and in pain and they decide to meet to drown their miseries at the same time so neither one of them reminds the other what a shitstorm it actually was.

Horrors and Living (a poem I wrote one time about a similar topic to this)
Myriad of consciousness...
In the future, people will be liquid, or generated;
Death and Life will mean nothing
And perhaps neither will the sun and moon
Grass and trees replaced by wires
Florescent nightmares of flesh and steel
Neural mysteries and bleeding dreams;
And from this,
Time will keep going on.
Eternally.
There's no end, no beginning;
After humanity rots and something else arises,
And after they rot, too.
Ouroborus' corpse will be eaten by another snake;
A conquerer worm dies and then is fed upon.
Angels dragged down and die,
For the thing above them in the hierarchy,
And the same occuring with demons.
The endless ladder of existence never topples;
Horrors forever written.
But the experience of life will go on
The stories worlds forge and creative development
As long as that real heart keeps beating,
The world is true.
