The set consist of Blazar Remus 1.5X 45mm T2 Anamorphic, Blazar Remus 1.5X 65mm T2 Anamorphic and Blazar Remus 1.5X 100mm T2.8 Anamorphic, which gives you a nice range of focal lengths. In this video I did a review of Blazar Remus Anamorphic lenses set with Canon C70 and Viltrox 0.71x speed-booster, with awesome shots from my friend Vitaly, who brought those lenses to Thailand and to a concert, we'll have a look at Blazar Remus Anamorphic lenses distortion, minimum focusing distance, bokeh, lens flares, sharpness, overall anamorphic look, features and more. How do you like the Blazar Remus Lenses?
#blazar #blazarremus #anamorphic
For sure the softness is due to the focal reducer + need of shimming.
I think your copies are hands down the softest Blazar set I've seen - definatly worth shimming them! IMO try get yourself access to a lens projector and do it properly, if this is your starting point it will make a difference. Both our sets (Amber and Blue) are much sharper than these and both got sharper after shimming.

Thank you so much for making this! I'm using the c70 abd the remus set to shoot a film in Utah next month. How were you monitoring the footage/pulling focus? Was it difficult?
Hey) thanks) we were using an on-camera monitor (5 inch) to properly monitor the footage 😎
If I remember correctly, speed boosters degrade the image due to the introduction of extra glass between the lens and the sensor. Could this be the case with your C70 + speed booster + lens setup?
It could, we didn’t test it without a speedbooster
I’ve used these lenses without both the RF to PL and X-Mount to PL Metabones SB… no sharpness issues. If there were, I would just have accepted the crop.
Ok thanks guys
Good review, but did I hear you say these lenses are definitely not small? These are tiny for anamorphic lenses. Easily small enough to use on a gimbal.
Secondly, your lenses are in serious need of shimming. This is why they so soft wide open.
FYI: I’ve owned these lenses since launch and was in the first batch of preorders. Shot with them on Red, Canon, Fujifilm XH2S and GFX100 II. Fantastic lenses… but not if they are not properly shimmed.
Hm they advertise as constant squeeze factor. Are you sure they are not constant?
It looks to my eye it’s not) I could be wrong
Don't like the silver look - dose it come in black?
As far as I know - no
you forgot to shim your lens that's why its soft at f2
Well, first - it’s not mine, second - shimming resolves backfocus issue.
@@NOlimitsON it also resolves focus sharpness and fringing I have seen videos of few more creators and their videos looks far more clean, don't mind my words sir just saying
@@hersh_yt yep. It looks bad.
I contacted Blazar and they do not recommend shimming the lens
sweet lord that's soft, that looks almost unusable at F2.8 and faster. What's shim? I actually don't know, but maybe it should be done if it can help. F4 is much better but probably not the hit you want at whatever price point these are.
Ask the guys in the comments, they seem to shim-masters 😂
Shim your 100
Extra glass behind an anamorphic lens will make the lens image worse and 1 stop of light bether. It aint t2.0 but t1.2. In this case not good. Because again extra glass.
