@@cammackey thanks for your response. What‘s your opinion on the look in comparison? From what Ive seen the Vazens offer a more „three dimensional“ flare which reminded me of the Atlas ones which I‘ve rented recently
Anamorphics have more to offer than the flaws (character). I like anamorphic for the flare and bokeh more than anything. If I could have that plus really good sharpness then I'd be very happy.
What a review and sick footage🔥, have you tried it on “vertical anamorphic” ? If no could you make a video about it as its so handy for both horizontal and vertical videos

I grew up on 80’s, 90’s movies. Die Hard is probably still my favorite - the last 30 minutes of that movie. Flares, distortion, all of it. Gimme all that 💩. Love these lenses already
I’m looking to get into anamorphic lenses because, not only do I like the aspect ratio, but I’m a little fed up with the boring, boring, boring “perfection” of some of the modern lenses I’ve been using. Those old cinema lenses had character, and there is no denying that character is part of the beauty of any film shot by Gordon Willis, Tonino Delli Colli, Jack Cardiff, Robert Krasker, Gregg Toland, and more. Clinically perfect lenses actually distract from good storytelling, and pull us out of imaginative world building; lens character is inextricably linked to composition, story, and feel.
Enjoyed your video and style of presentation, thank you. I have a Sirui and I've got to say I'm a bit underwhelmed with it, I swear it's a Friday afternoon batch. I took video samples using e different Sony cameras, A1, a7Siii and the ZV-E1. All came out worse than a Moment iPhone Anamorphic lens and so streaks. Normally we think too much. Sent this to them but they were not open to the issue. It would seem there is an alternative. I paid CA$1,850 and it's just fathering dust.
I have the Blue flare version. It's actually pretty neutral, unless the light source is blue. What I don't like is the strong green flare that you also get. Just overpowers everything in the frame. Makes me want to not flare the lens at all
Best kind of review 🤝 Everything I watch involving anamorphic just makes me more and more and more excited for my Atlas Mercury preorder to ship 😭 … it’s been a year, but it feels like 3
Viltrox are made for a totally diffeeent type of usage in my opinion. The Remus are beyond light and compact. The viltrox are tanks. Like I 100% would not use those lenses without lens support
@@cammackey Fair point. I Guess what I would really like to see is one that combines the Remus form factor with the cleaner vitrox look. Still an exciting lens set for sure. Hopefully I can try both at some point, maybe it'll change my mind
Thanks so much for the fantastic real-world footage Cam 🙏 Loving the look of these for the price. I have the 1.8x Great Joy 35 and 85, the 85 has some character but the 35 is rather too bland. This set looks at least somewhat better matched, though still with variations. Lightweight and small at an amazing price for the set, what's not to like if you're into this sort of look. Most of my work is out in the snow and ice on skis in hostile mountain terrain where the panoramas lend themselves really well to anamorphic, but it's too high risk for a set of Mercuries. These look ideal 👍

SNAP!!!! These are amazing. I will use these on my C70 and Red Epic Dragon but I am wondering what this will look like on the GFX 100 II
Oh crap I filmed on the GFX 100 II and forgot to add the footage 🤦🏽♂️
Now I’m intrigued even more. How was the sensor coverage? I know Nisi, Dulens and my DZO Vespids work extremely well
@@cammackey did it cover the width of the sensor or did you shoot opengate 3:2?
Anamorphics have more to offer than the flaws (character). I like anamorphic for the flare and bokeh more than anything. If I could have that plus really good sharpness then I'd be very happy.
What a review and sick footage🔥, have you tried it on “vertical anamorphic” ? If no could you make a video about it as its so handy for both horizontal and vertical videos
Thank you very much for a great video, and I am considering these with an ursa 12, so I hope that will be a great combo. God bless you guys.
What on earth is that mount attached to the back of the truck? That thing looks insane
nice review man, thank you. can you think this set of lens are good choice for wedding films?
I would like to have a set of anamorphic lenses to pair with my zcam e2 f6 but I don't know which ones to get, compromise between light weight, ease of use, and overall look.
How are they compared to their T2.9 lenses? The former Great Joy 50mm T2.9 1.8x squeeze?
Whats luts u used?
My LUTs ;) link in description!
Hi Cam, did Blazer give any indication on despatch time? I am itching to put my hot little hands on these bad babies 👶 😮😮😮❤ (purchased the set)
I think sometime this month
@@cammackey cheers
I grew up on 80’s, 90’s movies. Die Hard is probably still my favorite - the last 30 minutes of that movie. Flares, distortion, all of it. Gimme all that 💩. Love these lenses already
Come down to Oklahoma. You can help me test these Laowa Proteus lenses they sent me to try.
Makes me want to not flare the lens at all
Mann I need to step up my intro game after this
Panning in FF is really hideous, but I can make it work in S35. I don't like the CA but 3 lenses at that price! Interesting!
This video is inspiring me to film anamorphic more and more. Any idea if the PL version will fit the Matabones Speedbooster?
The way it squeezes towards the edge of frame reminds me of my Moment adapter
Cam is The Man!
Chineses opticians and companies are about 1-2 versions away from giving us what we want (anamorphic). Best to hold and wait a year
They’re giving me the Shawscope/Tohoscope vibes. And I like it. I’ll take all the flaws.
Best kind of review 🤝
Everything I watch involving anamorphic just makes me more and more and more excited for my Atlas Mercury preorder to ship 😭 … it’s been a year, but it feels like 3
compatible fujifilm xt5 ?? thank you for video , FROM FRANCE :)
What PL to E adapter are you using ?
The Nisi one!!! It mounts directly to the 4D and is ultra light!
@@cammackey thanks mate
What is pin cushion and barrel distortion?
Dusty environment out there to be changing some lenses, hah. Great video man. This is the first I have heard about them. Definitely intriguing.
Another great video brother. Love all your stuff. I would love to fly out and learn how to film from you. Name the price!
Any lens vignetting? or any other issue does it worth the money ?is this good one or sirui carbon fiber thx
Are you shooting on PF or EF with a mount ? Trying to put these on the fx3/fx30
They're really close, but I think I like the Viltrox better, at least for the work I do. The distortion is just a bit too much.
Very cool!! Psyched to see more affordable anamorphics on the market
Sick teaser. Theres the Cam Mackey we love and appreciate. Thanks for the Art and Tech....Guru.
I love that part if you looking for super sharp use a G master.
Has the look of the Kowa B&H but in 1.5x form. Not bad
Damn that was next level
Hey cam - can you recommend a good pl to e mount adapter ? I’ll buy these probably but I thing keeping them as pl mount gives me more options down the line :) thanks for you content - love it ❤
I highly recommend the Mofage Poco VND adapter!!!! It glued to my fx3 geni.us/dNVRi
how about the Sirui Carbon Fibre Anamorphics versus these? What are your thoughts on those considering they fit the 4d easily?
Polar opposites.
