What worked WELL for my BELOVED 16 year old Furbaby was Cosequin DM for Senior Dogs🙏 It worked for 10 months but then he began to develop muscle atrophy. I then had to make the HEART WRENCHING Decision to put him to rest on August 18 2022. Magic you will ALWAYS be in Mommy's HEART🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤❤

What kind of supplements are good for muscle mass and gaining weight? I don’t have the money to take my dog to physical therapy and all these other treatments that you have discussed.

My boy has had all the tests to rule out all other diseases. MRI, lumbar puncture, bloods, urine and Gene test which shows he carries the gene. There are some excellent supportive groups on fb. I have a help em up harness and he has just started using a cart. He's doing really well with it so far.
All the best, it's a terrible disease. X

Thanks very much for your videos. My Jazzy, a female toller who is ten, had a double whammy in an oral cancer diagnosis, with a partial mandibulectomy - and as she was coming out of that, a DM diagnosis. I'm trying to keep the beast at bay with physio, hydro, walks and whatever else I can do. I'm still not sure what supplements are the most likely to help - especially as there is hardly any journal literature/studies on their effectiveness. Do you have any opinion on supplements, doctor? I have not found any of your videos that get into detail on them.
DM is such an awful wilderness to be in with your companion - I have never felt more in need of a support group...

Other than the unstable walking and knuckling..she is fine I don't know what to expect next..She's turning 11...I don't know what to do anymore...is the panting a part of this? Anything I should know about DM..my vet says it's neurologic....same as DM??

It's going to become very emotional and she progresses through the stages.
      Exercise is very important.

I found that a good quality non-alcoholic LIONS MANE TINCTURE/EXTRACT has helped my dog a lot!
      (QUICK BACKGROUND)
Dog is 16 and has DM for over a year now and BB is slow and struggle sometimes but overall she is still going strong she still walks and runs! She has a few accidents and sometimes stumbles over and I don't trust her on stairs but she is still happy and overall healthy I just wanted to let people know that because there is a lot of info out there saying they will only last a few months to a year and that is not true.
I feed her as healthy as possible with fresh fruits and vegetables and meats but overall just focus on maintaining low fat and low protein (mosy dog food has wayyy too much of both plus it cab cause pancreatitis especially for my dog).
      (LIONS MANE RESULTS)
This is a little-known supplement that has been shown effective in degenerative myelopathy and has no bad side effects. Just make sure you do your research and buy non-alcoholic!! I would say talk to your back because that's always recommended but not all that's know about this and my vet didn't even know that she had degenerative myelopathy so I had to figure that out on my own and did all this research on my own for hours and hours and hours.
Anyway just in case someone else has a dog with this and doesn't know what to do and wants to help their dog it is worth trying in my opinion I noticed a difference the first day and it's not like she regressed back to a puppy but she started picking up her feet when she was walking. I couldn't believe it and I wasn't expecting it to really do much if anything at all, but t he at first day she improved! I don't think that she will continue into improve until the problem is gone or anything like that but I do think that it will keep it from getting worse as fast as it normally would.
I'm also been giving her TURMERICwith her meals for a few years now and it just has amazing and countless health benefits for humans and animals....
YOU HAVE TO MIX IT WITH BLACK PEPPER (just a little bit...) in order for the body to be able to available and benefit from the curcumin.
EVERYONE SHOULD DO THEIR OWN RESEARCH OBVIOUSLY, 😊 but this is what I came to on my own conclusion. The reason why I started using curcumin is because it's anti-inflammatory and it also could possibly fight off cancer and there are no negative side effects.... I noticed a slight difference but not a definite improvement however I think this overall helps her stay healthy and probably has enabled her to live as long as she has and maybe slowed the myelopathy as well. (Just what i believe from my research and experience)
And while I'm at it 💁🏼‍♀️I might as well mention you should NOT use topical flea treatments on your animals either because it is basically what pest control companies use and they have to wear a special suit just to spray the stuff... It's that bad! It's a neurotoxin and it absorbs into your pet and it's got lots of bad side effects that if you KNEW .. YOu would not want!
LEARN ABOUT IT!!! PLEASE!!! IT JUST TOOK ME A REALLY LONG TIME TO DO ALL THE RESEARCH AND I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THE RESULTS FROM MY EXPERIMENT TO MAYBE SAVE PRIPLE MONEY AND TIME
I ACTUALLY JUST FINISHED DOING AN EXPERIMENT ON ALL THESE DIFFERENT THINGS TO FIGURE OUT IF ESSENTIAL OILS WORK IF DIATOMACEOUS WORK IF NEEM OIL WORKS... I tested all of these things out with fleas in bags and the two that worked the best and killed all the fleas within a few MINUTES was
      #1: rose geranium essential oil
      # 2: cedarwood essential oil
(All the other natural things didn't really do much....)
And HOURS LATER.....FLEAS ARE STILL JUMPING AROUND IN THE BAG WITH 🙄FRONTLINE!! 👎
IT DID NOTHING! I THINK THEY LIKE PLAYING IN IT😂. ...NO JOKE.
(Whoops I didn't mean to type in all capitals but I'm not going back to retype that last part sorry!)✌️😘🐶🐾

Could u tell me second time for what? Was he not able to walk than got better and had another relapse ? My Shepard all of a sudden couldn’t stand on his hind legs and losing his balance when he tried to walk. Praying all week and today we see a lot of improvement . So we don’t know if it is showing signs of DM or just pulled something. We had DNA test in the past and it said no genetic traits for that disease . So we r waiting now to see if it comes back . In the meantime we will try hydro anyway because he is old . Dr said his bloodwork is so good for his age . So we will have to observe than take it from there. My son is so heartbroken, he loves that dog .❤ Ps He was panting also but as I said he’s much better today . Praying and praying, the Lord loves our animals to . How is your dog doing now ? Hope he has’nt gotten worst .🥲
