You are my favorite Dr. What I love most about you is that you get right to the lecture and you lecture as if I am an intelligent adult and can understand most of what you're telling me and can look up any words that I don't know the meaning of. I love that you blast me with as much information as you can give without me becoming a Dr too. I don't want to be entertained, I don't want music, I don't want to feel all warm & fuzzy inside. I want information and you are the first source I check when it's related to the issues with my dog. And you didn't charge me a dime! Thank you! I've been pretty short on dimes for a while now.
My 10 year old Greyhound was just diagnosed with this. I was glad to hear that there is no pain in involved. Thank you for this video, it was very helpful. I will put some of your suggestions to use in caring for my sweet boy.
Sadly, at the first small sign of this (strange gait, rear left leg) I immediately got her checked and proceeded with acupuncture, hydrotherapy, cold laser, home cooked food, supplements, aminocaproic acid, and so much more. At the onset, she was still running quickly, but despite doing everything mentioned above from the very beginning, she got extremely worse, extremely fast. DM is a horrible nightmare no matter what you do. I even did the MRI, which showed an extremely healthy spine. Did blood work, all perfect. I bent over backwards to keep my dog healthy for 8.5 years and I succeeded, however DM is still happening. Very sad.
vickijd22 Hi. How's your dog doing now?
Thanks for the thoughtful info...
You went so fast even with rewinding, What is the list of supplements you recommend?
I wish I had known this year's ago for my Brunie. My vet said she had Arthritis of the spine; I know now she had DM.
what did your vet do? antiinflmmatories? did that help at all?
what about Goldic treatment? Dardy Boyd from Arthrogen... has faxed the first doberman to have wobblers...? love to here your response thanks
nice Video
Is there an updated version of this video?
Where can I get pine bark extract for my dog?
I just had to put my 3 year old American Akita to sleep bc of this disease today 😢 it happened so suddenly
My german shepherd who is 11 years old has been dignosed with DM. Under my supervison & support, is it okay for him to climb stairs? Will climbing stairs function as an exercise? I am already taking him to hydrotheraphy & physiotherapy sessions but was wondering if there are additional exercises I could do at home to improve his mobility
I think my shepherd/ rotti May have this but she will be 7 in August
My goliath has it. He has about two or three weeks left
My dogs already been knuckling for a year and I’m wondering if it’s something else instead... hoping rather as there have been no progressions
I found great success in stopping rapid progression by changing his diet to a raw food diet.
We were able to delay rapid progression for at least a year and a half-2 years.
Thanks for all the info. Its sad tho.
I have a beautiful German shepherd his back legs fold up. My husband and I are very upset abut Duke. My kids said if we put him down they will never talk to us anymore. What do. We have to look forward to if we try keeping him. Please please help us kno pone wants nothing to do with us.
Hi Susan Im not sure what stage of DM Duke has but check out McDowells Herbal Treatments in Australia..They have a holistic DM Remedy Ive had My 120 lb 10 yr old GSD rescue on it since Aug along with their Dancing Dog. its been 5 months and he's doing good ..not getting worse... I also have an 11 yr old GSD mix with hip and elbow dysplasia on it as well . Its not a cure but even if it helps buy them more quality time
its the only DM treatment Ive ever found other then Dr Clemmons DVM s treatment of Aminocaproic Acid and vitamins C,E,and B complex..
As bad as it looks, like Dr Becker says DM is not suppose to be painful for them. so hes not in pain Make sure he"s not on slippery floors etc.and a big towel or sheet can b rolled and used as a sling to help get him up There are great slings u can buy too.. If he has trouble getting up by himself make sure to help turn him over so hes not just laying on one side.. They will lose muscle mass in their back legs so they should go on short walks. and get exercise even little walks being helped. Holding them up in a swimming pool so they can walk in the shallow end REALLY helps build muscle mass back
You could get him a wheelchair too! Check out Walking Wheels . Theyre really reasonable Dogs do great in them check out the videos. Watch the Story Of Kenny a Dog with D M ...it shows how to walk them with a sling... You can do a Go Fund me page for him to raise funds for a wheel chair too. Acupuncture ,massage , hydrotherapy etc helps RAW diet is also reccomended ... McDowells Herbal Treatments have a great site ,with all kinds of Herbal treatments for dogs cats horses and humans too. . Unfortunately theres no cure for DM yet .but hopefully theyll find one soon!! I hope this info helps...Good Luck with Duke !
