Great videos guys, have cleaned washing machine myself, found faults and so forth because of your videos. This time I am going head first at heating element, as it is covered in limescale(bought washing machine like 8-10 years ago and water is hard). Now, by buying water softener, I was wondering about replacing the element. It works kinda fine, but the condition of heater makes me wonder about changing it(if not, will tend to one of your other videos). Thing is that it's one of the old models I can't find heating element on your website - Samsung WF-R862. Is there a place where I could get one? Or is there a chance I might be able to use WF-B862 heating element instead as those look identical(though I see that watt amounts differ)?

Is there a way to verify that the element is bad, for example with a multimeter? How useful is such a test? What other things should one test before concluding the element is the problem?
+spelunkerd There are two tests that will identify 95% of faulty elements. Test one, Continuity. Measure across the element for a low resistance, This will be between 20 to 30 ohms on a typical water heater to several hundred ohms on a fridge defrost element. No reading indicates a open circuit. Test two, Break down. This should be on the highest resistance range on the meter between element connection and the element earth tag or fixing bolt. If the element is good no reading will occur. This sometimes will not show conclusively a failing element unless tested with a high voltage insulation tester like a 'Megger'.
By break down, do you mean that you do a voltage drop test with active current flowing, to see if there is dynamic resistance in the circuit not evident with a simple ohmmeter? How often would an ohmmeter fail to detect a bad element?
+spelunkerd The break down we refer is when a small current flows from the element to earth. The higher the test voltage the more likely a components insulation will fail. A 'Megger' measures resistance with typically a internally generated low current 250 volts supply or 500 volts depending on model and range. We would advise against 'Dynamic'or Live testing' as this can be dangerous and may not show the fault as the power often trips immediately.
Hi, I have a new Zanussi washing machine and have not used at all. An error code of EH-1 is coming up on the screen. What would be the fault? The error code EH-1 is not mentioned on your trouble shooting. Please help! thank you
+Claire salugao We assume you are connecting this to a regular mains electric supply and not running of a generator, Solar or wind power or have not 'imported' this machine from another country. EH1 is indicating a supply problem. Check temporarily on another socket with an extension lead and if that works check the original socket.
the problem is the amp. I called zanussi but theyre not really helpful . I was also told that I could change the circuit board? will you be able to advice on that and cost and where to buy this? thank you
+Claire _28 Check the mains supply frequency matches the appliance. We think your machine is likely to be designed for 220 to 240 volts at 50 HZ frequency. The voltage in the Philippines is OK but we believe the frequency is 60 HZ hence the problem.:-)
+eSpares You need to identify if there is a version of your model that was imported into a country using 220 volts 60 hz. Often Manufacturers will use the same model but ad a different suffix number ie /01 /05 /21 etc. If there is a version we can order the module for that machine and it should work in the Philippines.
Thank you for the video
Hi Victor, thanks for your comment. Hopefully we help you to replace the heater in your washing machine!

Nice vid
QUESTION!
What happens if you don't put the heater back in & you use the washing machine without the heater?

GREAT! TY SiR!
+Isildur1 Thanks. :-)
thank you sir

Thanks helpful

I've spent half an hour getting the front off only to find that the heating element isn't where it's shown in this video...............
HI Pam, sorry to hear this but the heater is not at the front on all washing machines even if the makes are the same.
