Thank you so much for this video. Im a 52 year old woman and I have just saved myself about £450 by watching this video. Couldnt get the filter out, so took out the pump to find 5 nails 2 coins 2 bits of fabric plus all sorts of bits of plastic, gunk and the rest all clocking up the pump. All reinstated and now back working as normal. Thank you very much indeed, great video, simple and brilliant.

    Thank you so very much!
A bra wire had been stuck in the drum. I removed the heating element on a Miele and after much sweat, some tears and your inspiration I am pleased to tell: the machine is in full swing again!
Could not have done it without you!

Great video. I can add one additional tip: if you remove one of the drum paddles (there are videos on how to do this) you will find that you can feed the fibre optic camera (also called an endoscope) through the mounting slots for the paddle, or you can shine a torch through one slot whilst looking directly, or with a mirror, through other slots, or even through the perforations in the drum, as you rotate the drum. Using this technique I found a key I was looking for, stuck in the entrance to the sump pipe, and I was then able to grab it with a pair of forceps and manoeuvre it out through one of the slots. This method has the advantage that you don't have to remove anything other than a drum paddle, most of which come off very easily when you know how, and if it doesn't work you still have all the techniques shown in this excellent video at your disposal.

Thank you for being so concise and for calling out the manufacturers for intentionally designing their washers to fail! Total BS.

Great comment about how the industry, like every other, profits from planned obsolescence forcing us into a cycle of needless consumption and waste. The only winners are the greedy corporations and their shareholders. We lose out and so does the planet as the mountains of waste grow ever larger. Conscious, conscientious people like yourself help prevent a lot of waste, save us money and deserve our gratitude. Thank you, sir.

Absolutely brilliant instructions. Was really apprehensive about attempting this having no experience in washing machine DIY. Have CDA integrated machine so wasn't sure if heating element in front or back. So tried front first, taking everything off, only to discover it was at the back. So pulled machine out, back off and hey presto there it was. 20 mins later, all removed and machine back in position. Many thanks for 5 star tutoring, saved me ££££'s in callout charge.

Very extensive yet useful information compared to other videos. You're also making it much easier to understand the disassembling, where to start and which steps are essential an must not be skipped if you're disassembling your machine anyway. It's nice to have this knowledge on hand now, not only to save money on repairs by a technician but also to make your machine last longer yourself.
My washing machine hasn't been draining properly even though I checked the filter in the front and drained it manually through the small tube. Hopefully these instructions might resolve the issue, perhaps I'm able to retrieve some lost socks as well.
Thanks in advance! I'm pretty sure this will do the trick for me as I'm going through the positive feedback in the comments🙂

I watched this video twice, after washing my partner's hearing aid by mistake and then it got stuck under the drum! I tried to grab it, but it fell under the drum - I later learned I had pulled it apart. I tried the vacuum in the hose behind the trap - and managed to suck out the battery but not the other (very expensive) electronic processor. After the repair company I used before never called back, I decided to be brave, take out the Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the ring and pull off the big black (sump?) hose at the base of the drum accessible on our LG HE compact washer from the bottom front panel. I managed to get my phone up the hole and take a few pics to see where this thing was. Then I reached in and felt around with my fingers and grabbed that expensive sound processor part! Then I poked around at the location where pictures showed hook around the ear part had hooked onto something - and I got that too. Then I carefully replaced the black hose and screwed the ring on tight and ran a load. So thanks for saving me $350.00 which is what they charged me the last time to replace the $20 motor (NYC prices). THANKS SO MUCH!

Suddenly our Siemens IQ700 WM started making a racket when it was going into spin mode. Paused it removed the clothes and found nothing. when turning around the drum there was something moving inside but no big asymmetry when it spun. put in small batch and spun them to dry still with the noise. the second batch went smooth. thought the trouble passed over. After a day or two put another set for washing and near about end of spin cycle the noise reappeared and it suddenly went quiet like something was thrown out.
i guessed something is wrong and in my search came cross your video. From your video I realized it could be a costly affair to not to check the machine.
opened up the heater and found a ton of lint, threads clinging to the heater. no metal objects inside though. then opened up the drain pump and lo perhaps the culprits were there. few cloth tags, a couple of plastic collar tabs of my shirts and small tooth picks left in the pockets (to press lift buttons in these covid days). cleared them up and the machine is smooth now for two cycles. hope it would
It saved me near to 100 GBP to the service man. thank you very much.

My machine is the Bosch Maxx Comfort WFR 2840. It has a panel on the bottom so it is difficult to access from the bottom.
I've removed a wire that was jamming the pump filter. Than I've try to check if there was not any other in the drum checking through the heater door.
Unfortunately wile I was trying to taking the wires out I have pulled out the NTC probe. Can I put it again and expect that the large rubber gasket do his job or should I put something in it in order to avoid any leakage?

thank you very very much. Paul. it's so helpful video. I have 2 questions :1-what the goal of the ball inside the drain hose?
2-how to test the NTC senser if the washing machine isn't heating?

    • @How-to-repair
      @How-to-repair  7 років тому

      It serves a few purposes
If your washing machine was connected to the sink unit this ball with stop drainage water entering the drum, therefore stopping bad odours. The next is to keep the detergent in the drum.On a start sequence the washing machine fills with water and the ball seals the drum of by floating to the top
this will show you how a ntc sensor works www.how-to-repair.com/help/how-a-ntc-sensor-works-on-a-washing-machine/

Great video, thanks. I'm still chasing a noise in my GE front loader that sounds like a like "scrunch/ticking" sound. It's had the noise now for a while (over a year) and seems to be slowly getting worse, but there's no slop at all in the tub bearings. Wonder if I should take the belt off and spin it to see if it's the motor?
Thanks again, really appreciate the time you put into the video.

I’ve had my Hotpoint in bits following this video. Took out heater element, sump etc had sink unblocked all over the drum to check for a stray sock etc but can’t find a darn thing but it’s noisy on spin and if you spin the drum by hand you can feel resistance randomly nothing lodged in door or between rubber and metal and can see drum through hole where element goes and totally clear. I’m at a loss, any ideas :)

I just recovered a couple of my bank cards I lost when I accidentally washed my wallet in the machine. I used a long strong T-wrap and attached duck tape to the end of the T-wrap by wrapping the sticky side onto the t-wrap and then flipping the sticky side by rotating the tape so that the sticky side is facing outward, then wrap around a couple of times and tear off leaving a little slack to cover the top of the t-wrap. I inserted this fishing mechanism in between the two drums and using a flashlight I positioned the tape so to make contact with the card. press down gently and wait until you see the card attach to it (as you lift out the t-wrap the card should emerge between the drums)Then with a tweezer I pinched the edge of the card and pulled it out. Sorry, no videos. you may need to position the light in the right angle to see where the card is, you can usually see a reflection of the card of the side of the drum. HOPE this helps someone rescue their lost cards.

They may weld it because a machine can do that while a human has to be Installed by human hand. Also it makes they dryer last far less than if it was screwed in making more money for the company when you are forced to now purchase another dryer years earlier.

Hi, thank you for a very detailed and helpful video. But I have som question.
My family and I assume there is a bra wire stuck somewhere between the inner and outer drum. But we are not 100% sure.
There are some clicking or kind of "hitting" sound that can be heard during the ending centrifuging at high speed. But it doesn't always have that sound. Sometimes it just runs without any special sound or problem.
So where do you think the problem exist? Is there something stuck around the drum? Do we need to remove the heating element or?

I have a bra wire stuck in my washer somewhere. It only made a noise at the end when it was spinning fast. I took the back off but I didn't see a heating element, so I guess it must be at the front. I'm too scared to remove the front panel and everything in case I can't put it all back lol oh crap -_-
