@mbs7567 Great question and as typical with most answers, it depends. If you only want "on the ground" volumes and inventory, the internal accuracy would be 3cm or better internally or relatively without using GCPs if you're using an RTK-enabled drone like an M3E or M350. However, if the piles are exceptionally tall, say 50ft or higher, it's best to add some control to account for any relief error. If you want to compare volumes from one survey to a previous survey, like calculating added or removed material, you'll need GCPs to provide a globally accurate model. That can either be a spray-painted target or a permanent control marker, but ideally, you can use an AeroPoint to establish control as well.

Do you suggest the use of gcp’s when doing these stockpiles? What do you think the accuracy difference is between the use of gcp’s and not? Thanks
