Great job folks! Glad that you got to enjoy one of our favorite regular spots. FYI the Goodwater Trail (your campsite 5 was actually at the head of Goodwater Canyon) follows every nook and cranny of the canyon rim from the Wedge Overlook to Camp 1 -around 18 miles total. Your camp was right at the midway point. Our dear friend Lamar Guymon of nearby Huntington who just recently passed away was the one who pioneered that trail, and it's become very popular in the Utah mountain biking community. It's a fun ride, with very little elevation gain but it can be rough in spots with some really tight corners. The Mecca mountain bike club out of Huntington, of which Lamar was one of the founders, hosts the San Rafael Swell Mountain Bike Festival there every fall.

Truthfully, there was no escaping the smoke completely. But it was pretty good there. We even had several completely clear days. It really didn't take away from the experience!
That’s good. We spent most the summer in our 5th wheel at our Park County property and actually other than one week had most the summer smoke free. I was really surprised since the Denver metro was filled with thick smoke the whole summer. Thanks again for sharing!! We hope to catch up with you sometime in the future and catch up.

You could ride to the overlook on the roads, but the canyon itself is a designated wilderness area. There were plenty of "no motorized vehicles" signs in the area around where we camped. There may be some other off road trails in the area. You could probably contact the BLM office in Price, UT for more info. Sorry would couldn't be more helpful, we didn't see any dirt bikes while we were there.
