Well done! I have been planning and preparing to retire early to Turkey (before I'm 60) for nearly 2 years now. August 2022 is my target date. I lived and worked there for 6 months in 2011. Without a doubt, everything you mentioned in this video is true. One of the more fascinating ideas about living in Turkey is the amount of money one can earn monthly by depositing Turkey Lira into a Turkish Time Deposit account. Turkish banks offer attractive interests rates. As a single person who fully purchased a home and invested $60K in a Time Deposit account as of today, one can retire quite well. Personally, i prefer the southern coast line of the mediterranean rather than the Aegean, but that's just me. I can barely wait! 🇹🇷❤️

Unfortunately, if you stay longer than 6 months per year, they charge up to 40% of your worldwide income. 40% tax rate starts at about $10,000 per annum in income. Unfortunately the tax rate makes it one of the most expensive places on the planet to retire, especially for those on a fixed income.

Great video. I think a striking point is that there are a lot of Persian words in Turkish language ! Persian was actually spoken and written by the Ottoman Sultans and it’s written all over the Topkapi palace on the walls. There is a large expat of over 1,000,000 Persians that also share similar words also with the 16,000,000+Kurdish Population of Turkey. Turkey is diverse and a beautiful country and you failed to mention the influence of the Persian culture which predominantly ruled over the entire Turkey and surrounding countries to Turkey for a very long time. Many Iranians also feel they share cultural characteristics with the Turkish society, in terms of food, music and history, which attracts a lot of Iranian tourists,” “Geographical proximity is also a factor which allows cheaper modes of travel.” So mention of Persian influence would be notable point. Thank you for a great video.

For banking you can open an account in international banks which are also in Turkey like HSBC and keep using same account in Turkey. If you are asking if there will be a tax cut to your retirement there won't be but ofc there is value-added-tax in everything and you have to pay property tax as well if you buy a house etc. Turkey is giving citizenship to people who bought a property in Turkey but ofc there is a price limit but not high and you can also apply for residency which is given pretty easily. And health insurance is a must in Turkey anymore not optional but basic one is quite cheap as well.
Unfortunately, if you stay longer than 6 months per year, they charge up to 40% of your worldwide income, and everything is considered income, even capital gains. 40% tax rate starts at about $10,000 per annum in income. It's all tied to the Lira, as it devaluates, the thresholds stay the same, therefore more and more of your currency is taxed at the higher rates. Unfortunately the tax laws and rates make it one of the worst places on the planet to retire, especially for those on a fixed income who can't live outside of there for more than 6 months a year. My brother just landed today from the USA. Completely incorrect as Turkey's economic problem is having way more imports than exports so more foreign currency leaving the country than entering which decreases the value of Turkish lira!! In order to close this deficit Turkey needs to reduce imports, increase exports or bring foreign currency from elsewhere like tourism sector or foreign investments. So when foreigners retire in Turkey they actually help Turkey with their foreign currency not increasing prices at all...
@@koseku3 There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out. Clearly you are confusing luxury life style with tourism sector, for example there are very expensive restaurants, hotels, houses etc in Turkey even if they aren't touristic at all, if there is demand there will be always supply!! And Turkish lira loosing value makes Turkish people suffer a billion times more than some expensive hotels, restaurants as it is grealy increasing inflation in all products including even domestic products as simple as fruits and vegetables, because Turkish farmers using IMPORTED oil to produce them so when oil becomes more expensive as Turkish lira lost value even domestic fruits and vegetables are becoming more expensive!! Right now Turkey needs to increase Turkish lira's value back more than anything else and it is only possible by decreasing imports (Limiting oil, electronic imports etc), increasing exports or finding foreign currency from other sources like tourism sector, foreign investments, swap deals etc so nope, tourists are helping Turkish people without any question...
I would love to retire in Turkey. Turkey is so beautiful there is so much to see and experience, above all the people, are friendly and welcoming.
