I was in the US Army Band 1975-77. I had to listen to this thrice to try to be clinical without emotional influence. But each time my emotions grew more intense. The lyrics and voices of the low baritone and Alto singers in harmony were so powerful and nostalgic for me. It just blew my mind. Thank you.

BdLCpl Sam McIndoe has the voice of an angel and Musn George Gessing has a command of the low end of the register that makes the foundations of the Earth tremble. These two sang an arrangement of I Vow to Thee My Country a few years ago that brings a tear to my eye whenever I hear it.
From this old USMC vet, our brothers and sisters in the Royal Marine band does Britain and military personnel around the world proud. This is a great song and your rendition is magical. My late dad was a drummer and bugler in the Royal Marine band back in the 1950s and 60s. I wonder what he would have thought of their military version of this song (he was a Simon and Garfunkel fan). Personally I absolutely love it.

Wow. As a huge fan of the Disturbed version of this song, I love the way they took their version, added little bits of the original, and then built on it. Nobody can match David Dreiman’s incredible vocal, but this manages to bring the goosebumps too.
Fantastic, my late father was a Royal Marine bandsman in the 1950's. He used to take me every year to see the RM band at Sheffield city hall. Great memories and this brings it all back.

My father never wanted me to join the army, yet I did. Back then it was not mandatory for women to join the Swedish army and my first outpost was in the war-torn Republic of Kosovo as part of SWEDINT/KFOR. I’ve been playing classical music since childhood, but it was in Kosovo together with the KFOR that I had the opportunity to sing this and many other songs by Simon&Garfunkel alongside with the Britons. This performance reminded me of that time. Amazing!
@@d283jdsk2 They very much are operational personnel, who specialize in medical/communication/Logistics/CBRN Decon roles and do deploy in those roles routinely, the singer here for example Band Lance Corporal Sam Mclndoe (now Band Corporal) is a veteran of Afghanistan (left medal is the Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan), the director has the General Service Medal (Likely for Northern Ireland) and the Iraq Medal, the RMBS have deployed on all major military operations and conflicts since the Great War, WW1, WW2, Korean War, Suez Crisis, Falklands, Iraq (Both Times) all major NATO actions Britain has been involved in and Afghanistan are just the ones of the top of my head I can think off, in WW2 a quarter of the whole RMBS had been Killed-in-Action by the end of the war the largest percentage of any branch of any service in the His Majesty’s Armed Forces.

May 2024, and heard this version for the first time. I have played this video 3 times already. This rendition is simply genius. The harmonies are totally out of this world. I don’t enough words to describe how brilliant this version is. The best of the best. It is haunting me.
