Thanks for the episode! 31:01 For the frogger game, Instead of shortening the length of the roads, you can add obstacles like trash cans, benches, and stop signs. This means you have to navigate around the obstacles while dodging the ravagers. So you can’t just run straight through it.

Game designer here! I have some ideas for Ravogger to counter the issue where you can just dodge the ravagers by just following them one after the other. One option is to add a time limit to make it so that if you snake through it then you have significantly less time for later sections. If you do add a time limit, having a scoreboard for going faster or different reward tiers for going faster would encourage players to take riskier maneuvers, just like Decked Out! Another option is to add pressure plates w/ lights through the street that dictate how the players have to move across the streets, removing the ability to just chase the carts as they go by. Finally, adding some optional collectibles that drop from the ceiling at the start (maybe a raffle ticket they could redeem after they play?) on the streets would encourage people to book it towards those independently of where the ravagers are, especially if there was a time limit. Also, I would lean into the double-ravager "glitch" as they were getting released. Having two go at the same time would emulate the different size trucks that exist in Frogger as well! Or, honestly, leaving it as is and letting players discover the "exploit" and then teasing them for using it might also just work as well! Looks really good so far, I love how you're doing this and I'm excited to see how it all comes together!
Another option would be to fill the floor with copper bulps, redstone ore or trip wire or something similar so that you can track updates to the block. then you can keep a score of the number of blocks walked (that have been updated) which would work similar to the time panalty
Using walls or glass panes over the track and one block before and after could create lanes when crossing to prevent ravager chasing as well. I'd imagine the increase in difficulty for the water area will counter the ease of the roads as Etho already mentioned, though.
Above Frogger, you could place a glass walkway, the sky idea would still be feasible, but would allow Hermits to have a bit of the classical view while the competitor makes their attempt. :)
Yeah!! Like a light blue concrete ceiling, then a two block air space and then a glass floor/ceiling…you could put light blocks and all sorts of detailing in that way..!

1 minute in and Etho has died, lost all his stuff and at the bottom of a hole with tnt dropping, using only a shield to save him. Never change Etho, never change.
I think nearly all hermits would make a full episode about building that moss farm. Etho’s just like “here it is” and then spends the whole episode on other stuff. These episodes are packed with good stuff
For the Frogger game: Throw some soul sand around on the roads to make it a bit more difficult. Also, I think a cool idea would be to make a small chamber (even if it’s just 4 pistons around you) that makes a slowness potion get thrown down from the ceiling, and then while that’s happening, that’s when the ravages start filling in.
I was fully expecting it to happen and still got startled when he died😭 he was going right through the middle and I was thinking "etho thats where the minecarts are falling" and then he exploded😔
Amazing thumbnail, the Etho statues are sure to have Joel think that Etho thinks he's a massive weirdo 😂 love the dynamic of Etho who always has several layers to his plans and then Joel who is just the least subtle person ever (and also quite gullible) 😅
Something about Etho and Bdubs' dynamic is so refreshing to watch! A lot of time hanging with other hermits tends to be a lot of having fun and joking around and it's all around a great time, but when Etho and Bdubs are working together on a project like this it's really nice to see that they're genuinely just good friends hanging out. There's obviously still lots of fun goofing off and whatnot, but also just generally chatting with eachother and figuring stuff out together. Something about it just feels so real.
For the frogger's ceiling, cover it in glass, then the other side of the glass is a big Joel's face looking down as if he's the one playing the game and the player is the character. Joel's obsession with Etho has modded his frogger game into Etho themed..
It really feels like Etho is a lot happier or more energetic recently it’s so uplifting, it’s infectious. Though that might just me projecting after another Etho upload :)
God I love how the moss farm looks, the bonemeal falling down past the platforms is such a great touch. There's an art to making redstone not just functional but also pleasing to the eye, and I think you're one of the best at it
35:22 At this point, can Etho's gaming posture get any weirder? Not only is there the whole mess with the desk, but now feet gaming has been added to the mix!
it painted an image in my head of Kakashi being a stereotypical mmo otaku playing with both his hands and feet. Like how it's often depicted in anime lol
You could do a glass ceiling with a viewing room. The viewing room could be light blue with clouds so it still keeps the immersion. Maybe give the players above disruptive options? Snow ball launchers? Splash potion droppers? Oh and a highscore board!
It would seem etho paid more attention to the comments than he did Gem. Keeping to those long videos instead of the shorter ones! I’m absolutely loving it
You and Bdubs working together (or interacting in general), always leads to my favorite moments. There's such an awesome friendship between you two that nothing ever seems forced and you both seem to be having a great time.
True. It’s because they’re both legends and grew up into legendary status together. They were Minecraft AND UA-cam kids together. Same with Doc. Years ago when Doc was doing a ‘pains of Mojang selling to Microsoft and the danger of MC videos being demonetized’ he talked about a world where he couldn’t watch Etho videos and how it was a world he wouldn’t want to live in.
make the frogger ceiling open up like a lucid dream where a visage of Joehills is staring into the arcade machine with excitement on his face! It would be AMAZING!
#30 on trending. Not only is Etho the most beloved Minecrafter (maybe not most watched, or even "best") but certainly the most beholden by his fan base, and even his fellow gamers, i dare say.
Hey Etho, I remember the frogger story from when you tried to make frogger on your singleplayer server. I remember hearing it as I was just starting to get into coding in high school. Not sure how long ago that's been now, but years later, I am now graduating with a degree in Software Engineering! If I recall, the singleplayer version was very similar to the Hermitcraft version, but now you're using ravagers and other tech for the rail system, which I think makes this completely worthwhile! Especially since the project is so personal to you! Thank you for years of great content, and keep up the good work!
I can’t put my finger on it. Grian has that personality, Bdubs has those editing skills, Etho is Etho. And yet when Etho uploads I’m far more excited, Etho has some real talent to make me feel this way
For frogger, you could add a mix of soul sand and regular blocks to the road and then use carpet to cover it up. This would roughly keep the aesthetic while making the game a bit more difficult as speed would be a little unpredictable.
I feel like lingering potions of slowness would remove the "cheese" stratergy (30:11) where you just follow the ravagers that pass. It doesn't completely get rid of the strat, but it will force the players to be a bit more mindful when strafing back and forth. Another idea I have with the potions is to sometimes have little events like "rain" (splash potions fall from ceiling) or "flood" (water flows around the track) to make the path a little harder to traverse
#34 on Trending, 2 days after release, and I know this isn't the first Etho video to trend like this. It always amazes me how successful a quality videos and a loyal fanbase can be, considering how much UA-camrs try to play the algorithm to get views. Great job, Etho, and thanks for all of your hard work to entertain us!
That story about playing the games with your feet reminded me when I was younger. I sunk many hours into Need for Speed Carbon and became particularly good at drift races. I spent hours and hours every weekend for about 5 years playing that same race because I was addicted to try and constantly beat my own score. I would ask my brother to try and beat my score and he could never come close. He never had the patience to play games so I challenged him that I could still beat him even if I play using my feet. The challenge was enough to keep him playing and I managed to absolutely floor him while playing the game with my feet.
I’m so excited to see how it looks fully cleaned up. Same with frogger. It’s so satisfying to see it all become so pretty on top of being so functional
Of course the guy who is so passionate about video games (whether it’s playing or creating them) has learned to play with both his hands and feet. Oh my goodness. So much Etho lore in these recent videos, I love it! Thanks for being you, Etho. ❤️
Some frogger thoughts: - Potions of turtle master would be fun with slowness and resistance. - Potion arrow dispensers would be interesting. Typically, it is a shorter effect time, and you could easily randomize what is sent and have it only affect the player. - Glass pillars to create some lanes could eliminate the ability to chase the ravager. -Soul sand or honey blocks would make it fun to mix up or even blue ice so that you slide around when you might not want to. - Pistons to raise or lower obstacles would be interesting. - I wonder if boats on blue ice could be used to make them move even faster? You would need a dedicated ravanger on that lane? Overall, it seems like a really fun project and game! I hope you are able to make it the way you want it and that the hermits have fun with it.
Regarding chasing the ravagers making it easy - maybe you could have the ravagers randomly stomp on the brakes (stop abruptly for a couple seconds), or even have the lanes randomly reverse direction. Or maybe hazards on the roads to make it more difficult to travel too far along the lanes - maybe "oil spills" formed from soul sand, or "weeds" made from bushes and/or wither roses.
The best explodification! And the moment Tango REALIZED he was a moment from locking himself in on that one section 😂 thanks for bringing this around, it was perfect!
I find redstone mindboggling! But for some reason when etho explains it, it somehow makes sense and seems straight-forward. One of the many reasons to love etho.
We all love "Effo" Joel. He is a difficult man to resist. I love that Joel has a pet name for him. Joel is equally as irresistible imho. A perfect combo to watch playing Minecraft.

@@nicksamek12no, it just gets rid of momentum

You can't get 18k bonemeal per hour while finishing the roof with a skelly grinder.
Joel: sends etho mail
Etho: "Speaking of obsessions..."
I'm a web developer, and it really hit me in the funny bone and the feels at the same time when you said "I still didn't know what an array was. But guess what? you can make Frogger without an array." at 33:42
That was definitely a programming moment! Make it work however you can XD
Just because you can doesn't mean you should... but you know what, for a 9 year old, honestly I respect the dedication to getting it to work at all.
@@RealRaven6229 Actually yes you should in the case of programming tbh as you can test if work arounds and develop skills. In other cases no you shouldn't but in this case it's fine lol
Given it's Etho, I picture him creating a linked list from scratch not knowing what an array is.
Ergo was already doing advanced loop unrolling without even learning about arrays
1 minute in and Etho has died, lost all his stuff and at the bottom of a hole with tnt dropping, using only a shield to save him. Never change Etho, never change.
He wasn’t duping tnt.
The comment doesn't mention tnt duping though? It says "tnt dropping"@@501stparatrooper5
@@501stparatrooper5 It says "TNT dropping" not duping
I think nearly all hermits would make a full episode about building that moss farm. Etho’s just like “here it is” and then spends the whole episode on other stuff. These episodes are packed with good stuff
Etho is really insanely good at the fundamental red stone logics and stuff like, that Ravager queueing system is SO smart.
This is a good idea! I think maybe it would also be fun for the players to hold crouch and jump across instead of run!
I was fully unprepared for colliding with the falling TNT minecart. Absolutely marvelous
I was fully expecting it to happen and still got startled when he died😭 he was going right through the middle and I was thinking "etho thats where the minecarts are falling" and then he exploded😔
I, too, fully expected that death to happen.
Etho’s heartwarming frogger story cutting directly to him explaining how he used to play MMORPGs with his feet gave me whiplash 💀
i love how etho has spent his entire life obsessed with the idea of building frogger in minecraft
Lmfao omg you’re right, i just realized that.
Just the last 13 years, so about a third of his life.
"it's creative liberties at this point because we never saw the sky in frogger"... Lol I love bdubs. I wasn't even kinda thinking about it like that
I don't really mind the 40-50 minute long episodes, it's like mini movies which I love! ❤
Each time I learn something new about Etho, I get more and more convinced he keeps anonymous because he's at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters
he has hands for feet and two elbow joints in each arm
Maybe his real name is Scott Summers since he'd be leading the team at this point.
Props to the Etho girls for manifesting this upload 🙏
always
💖🏳️⚧️💖
Bdubs probably manifested it
ur goddamn right !!
@@SpecialJess2bdubs is queen of the etho girls
That would be so funny.
I was thinking something similar, like from the opposite perspective of the person playing the game on the other side of the arcade machine glass
You deserve a raise for that idea.
I love how much Etho is enjoying Hermitcraft this season, the more compact layout is really helping out with fun stuff spontaneously happening
The "moss pit" has the SAME energy as that guy with the "eel pit"
Hell yeah eel pit dude
He should throw a rave down there... it'd become a mosH pit.
I think his username is CowTurtle!
Gotta love Crunchwrap Supreme
Etho at 8: self-teaching himself programming by reading a 500-page book
Me at 8: picking my nose and crying about where my toy went
It really feels like Etho is a lot happier or more energetic recently it’s so uplifting, it’s infectious.
Though that might just me projecting after another Etho upload :)
Etho was SO adamant he wasn't the weirdest one in Mumbo's Freak Show and yet he KNEW he had been playing MMORPGs with his feet!
Mumbo's going to be demanding a recount after this.
God I love how the moss farm looks, the bonemeal falling down past the platforms is such a great touch. There's an art to making redstone not just functional but also pleasing to the eye, and I think you're one of the best at it
35:22
At this point, can Etho's gaming posture get any weirder? Not only is there the whole mess with the desk, but now feet gaming has been added to the mix!
it painted an image in my head of Kakashi being a stereotypical mmo otaku playing with both his hands and feet. Like how it's often depicted in anime lol
38:30
Tango:" it was amazing, omg, it was perfect. Can ee talk about how PERFECT it was!!!!!"
Etho:"we killed a chicken 😢"
You could do a glass ceiling with a viewing room. The viewing room could be light blue with clouds so it still keeps the immersion. Maybe give the players above disruptive options? Snow ball launchers? Splash potion droppers?
Oh and a highscore board!
It would seem etho paid more attention to the comments than he did Gem. Keeping to those long videos instead of the shorter ones!
I’m absolutely loving it
Same❤ if the vids were shorter, what would Etho girls do😂

You and Bdubs working together (or interacting in general), always leads to my favorite moments. There's such an awesome friendship between you two that nothing ever seems forced and you both seem to be having a great time.
True. It’s because they’re both legends and grew up into legendary status together. They were Minecraft AND UA-cam kids together. Same with Doc. Years ago when Doc was doing a ‘pains of Mojang selling to Microsoft and the danger of MC videos being demonetized’ he talked about a world where he couldn’t watch Etho videos and how it was a world he wouldn’t want to live in.
I really enjoyed Etho's interactions with Tango, Iskall, Joell, Scar, etc. this episode too! Seems like they're all having fun
make the frogger ceiling open up like a lucid dream where a visage of Joehills is staring into the arcade machine with excitement on his face! It would be AMAZING!
#30 on trending. Not only is Etho the most beloved Minecrafter (maybe not most watched, or even "best") but certainly the most beholden by his fan base, and even his fellow gamers, i dare say.
Etho and Tango and TNT is a literally explosive combination. So much fun to watch!
Hey Etho,
I remember the frogger story from when you tried to make frogger on your singleplayer server.
“Its a bit much” Etho I’ve been watching doc’s videos. This is an incredibly tame amount of moss lmao
his moss is not even teleporting.
Those etho statues are truly a masterpiece
I can’t put my finger on it. Grian has that personality, Bdubs has those editing skills, Etho is Etho. And yet when Etho uploads I’m far more excited, Etho has some real talent to make me feel this way
35:38 babe wake up, new etho lore just dropped
For frogger, you could add a mix of soul sand and regular blocks to the road and then use carpet to cover it up. This would roughly keep the aesthetic while making the game a bit more difficult as speed would be a little unpredictable.
6:55 i love how he kinda runs when he's crouching. reminds me of a bug skittering. 10/10
the elytra does a lot to help with that as well
Swift sneaking
1:37
NO WAY that's got to be one of Etho's craziest deaths yet
There is something just so visually pleasing about the moss farm with its falling bonemeal and the frogger game with the ravagers just rolling by.
The problem of zig-zaging is solved by them being much faster than the player, or, alternately, the player being made much slower.
Just when work was at a lull, Etho comes to the rescue!
That moss farm is sick. It really does feel like a factory, not just a big farm.
For the frogger game, you could put dispensers in the ceiling. The hermits get to keep what they collect but they must make it across all 5 times.
Every season there are a handful of perfect episodes. This is one of them
Some frogger thoughts:
- Potions of turtle master would be fun with slowness and resistance.
So much Etho lore dropping this episode
Ethos thumbnail is a recipie for disaster... Its so on brand and I love that for him!!
ME TOO!!
Omg, I didn't even notice the AdolfSlab.
@@nils1953 I just that the right was giving the middle finger. Didn't even thought about this.
@@doctorpan3660 LMAO! Well I guess there is enough room for multiple recipies for distaster here.
Y’all need to chill with these stretches, reaching way too hard for this
Regarding chasing the ravagers making it easy - maybe you could have the ravagers randomly stomp on the brakes (stop abruptly for a couple seconds), or even have the lanes randomly reverse direction.
"speaking of obsessions" was so brutal xD
I find redstone mindboggling! But for some reason when etho explains it, it somehow makes sense and seems straight-forward. One of the many reasons to love etho.
We all love "Effo" Joel. He is a difficult man to resist. I love that Joel has a pet name for him. Joel is equally as irresistible imho. A perfect combo to watch playing Minecraft.
I think 44 minutes is the perfect length for an episode of hermitcraft. It has enough variety that it works well!
Your videos are my therapy. Thanks for all the laughs, and the hilarious imagery of a guy playing an mmo on multiple accounts with both arms and legs. Take care, Etho.

Oh sweet 40 minute video to keep me from sleeping
I'm starting to think Joel is obsessed with Etho

10:55 in the UK ending off a note with an X or an O means a hug/kiss, so this is effectively saying JOEL HUGS AND KISSES
I wondered if it was that, or XD, yay limited pixel fonts :)
You know what’s funnier is that doc wrote Joel XO not even Joel himself XD at this point the hermits are just trolling them both 😂
Doc showed in his video how you can use the stonecutter block in a water stream to allow items to bunch up and reduce lag, might be useful for you too :)
34:06 this story is so lovely! Thanks for including it. 😍
41:52 why do the statues feel like a task from the Permit Office? 😂
Your way of playing Minecraft is so inspiring! Thank you for all the entertainment over the years.
That moss farm makes one of the most varied and satisfying mechanical noises I’ve ever heard in Minecraft. So many overlapping sounds effects triggering at non-rhythmic times.
This might be one of my favorite etho thumbnails of all time
