On this video I go over multiple steps that I take in order to keep the bark. I turn a natural edge Mahogany bowl that had loose bark before starting the turning.
Great looking bowl Al. After that Yorkshire Grit have you ever added any wipe on Polyurethane? You can get it in satin finish or high gloss. To me, that is one more good looking finish. God Bless my friend.
I have tried the wipe on Poly but never with the Yorkshire grit. I am not a big fan of the wipe on poly. have not had great results probably because of how I am approaching it.Thanks for watching. Take care my friend.Good Bless you too
Really nice shine on that one, Al. The Yorkshire grit and O.B. shine juice combo seems to work great! I love the way the light was bouncing off the inside of the bowl. Did you use the shine juice on the bark too?
Thanks Jerry for watching. I agree that combo does seem to work well together I do dab Shine juice on the bark as well even if I can't buff it.Take care my friend.
Mr. Furtado, My brother in coffee !! lol :) :) I noticed you swing the camera down from directly above the piece on the lathe. What kind of mount are you using that does this ? Steph_Louisiana
I was surprised to see it so soon after my question to you. I though you might have done it for my benefit and I felt honored. If I had noticed your previous video on the construction over it, I would have watched it and not felt so embarrassed about asking a question you had already addressed to some level. But, I am grateful that you generously considered my issue and took the time to address it. Thank you my friend in woodturning and coffee drinking, Sincerely, Steph_Louisiana
Beautiful piece Al! I was always partial to the look of the natural edge bowls. Just seems more of the way it was meant to be. Love your videos & your work! Ilike the finish on it. Have you ever tried the hampshire sheen along with the yorkshire grit? Gives it a very bright shine.Take care! Steve
Thanks my friend for watching and commenting. I also like many of my pieces natural edge that is why I do so many end grain pieces. As far as finishes. I have not tried Hampshire sheen but have seen many videos of friends using it. I really like the look I have been getting with the OB shine juice and the sanding with Yorkshire grit.I am not one to go out and buy a product when I have something that works well. I am glad I was sent a sample of the Yorkshire grit to try. now that is a great product in my book and will be replenishing that soon.Take care
Thank you for the video on turning a natural edged bowl. I would have tried to put a smoother finish on the end grain of the bowl which is a hard thing to do being a turner of many years. Keep up the good work Al.
Thanks for watching and for the nice compliment. I am glad you like my channel and that you are able to take some pointers from me. Take care my friend.
If I had one I probably would. I have done it in a few cases with a parting tool. Perhaps you can ship me yours. I know there will be rare occasions I could use it LOL
Thank you for watching. I sure am glad you liked it. This one was finished with Yorkshire Grit and rubbed with OB shine juice. No saw dust on this one LOL.
What was the name of the liquid that you put between the bark?
Beautiful natural edge bowl Al!
Thanks for watching. Take care my friend.

Why do you not use a bowl saver for a piece like this to save a smaller bowl
If I had one I probably would. I have done it in a few cases with a parting tool. Perhaps you can ship me yours. I know there will be rare occasions I could use it LOL
Another great vid learned a lot thank you Al!!! Beautiful work!
