Well Al, I'd say that's a nice shaped vase with quite a nice shine....! Do hope you and your loved ones had a very Merry Christmas...! Wishing you and your blessed family have a prosperous wealth of health in the upcoming New Year...!
Thank you my friend. We had a great Christmas with a few family members, I hope you did as well and got together with some friends and family as well.Take care........Happy New year.
Thank you my friend. Yeah I swear by the OB shine juice but depending on the wood and the sanding it has a huge effect of course. Sanding sealer goes a long way as well.Merry Christmas
Too bad the palm didn't work out, Al, but the vase turned out beautifully. Very nice grain, shape and finish! Glad to see you with a new vid. Keep'em coming!
Nothing lost in the Palm LOL Yuval had a blast with this one LOL said he would have told me that you can't turn palm than after I said I burned it he said you can't burn it either as it makes a mess. LOL why am I always the last one to know these things? LOLThanks for watching and commenting my friend. Take care
Well, I am like you. I love your bowls, but that litle wase is very deautiful and it seams that the lathe is happy with the new motor and steerings. again, Marry Christmas, Júlíus
Thank you I know there was a High pitch sound on this but I was able to fix it for more pleasurable viewing.Thank you my friend.....Take care Merry Christmas.
Thank you for watching and commenting. My finishes vary quite a bit with the finish as well. It all depends on how much sanding I do ad weather I use sanding sealer or not. It's mostly on the wood.Merry Christmas.
HI Al, I have said it to you before, the piece you end up with was always in the lump of wood, It just needed an artisan, such as you, to pull it out :)
The vase came out really nice, nice the way the wood has all those spots. The lathe seams like it's working well but you know me I have to always find something to pick on and this time the only thing i can pick is the high pitch wine I hear when in low RPMs. it might be something close to the fan or it needs to be adjusted, but what do I know... lol
Yeah I knew it was there and had been trying to figure out how to fix it. I knew it was in the programing but could not find it. I posted a help in FB and a friend gave me the name of the perimeter and Sure enough I was able to find it on the manual and BAM it's gone.Take care Merry Christmas.
Hi Tom. Yeas I used 2 home made tools at the end. One was a broken 1/2 inch drill bit. I flattened to top and sharpened the bottom like a bowl gouge. That works great. The bigger one was a cold steel chisel, That does a great job on deeper pieces with a much better control. Sharpened some what like the above description This one is a but aggressive though.Merry Christmas.
Thank you Frank I should have put that in the description right off the bat. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out a fix for it. well FB friend helped. Thank goodnessMerry Christmas my friend
Once again you have out done yourself !! Having an issue using the OB Juice that hopefully you can help. I've been sanding my projects to 600 and can't see any scratches or damage due to end grain. However after putting on the finish I've noticed 'flat spots' in the finish. I realize that it must have something to do with the density of the wood at those spots, allowing for greater absorption. Will using a dealer 1st in any way interfere with the OB Juice finish. I don't think it would but...or would you have any other suggestions. Keep up the great videos, not only educational but extremely motivating .
As soon as I started reading your question I was thinking OK you need to use sanding sealer . You are correct the wood is absorbing the finish different in one area versus another. I use to have that problem when I first started until I started using sanding sealer and I used it on every project after that until I started using Yorkshire grit. but even using Yorkshire grit it is recommended you use a sanding sealer as well but I am a Rebel and refuse LOLI hope this helps Take care
I have had that name for some time and have used it for short periods of time. Well I decided to keep it after all. I think it's me LOL..... That was just done last week .Merry Christmas.

HI Al, I have said it to you before, the piece you end up with was always in the lump of wood, It just needed an artisan, such as you, to pull it out :)
Thank you so much my friend. In this case anyone could have brought out the beauty as it was in the wood. Merry Christmas.

You too...
Hi Al, love your video's please use a steel bar to tighten your chuck not a drill bit which is brittle and could shatter in you hand
cheers Rodders
great idea actually every time I used it I was always afraid of that happening so I was a little cautious but will have a fix........ thanks again
Did you make the big heavy bar tool you were hollowing with towards the end? And what from?
Hi Tom. Yeas I used 2 home made tools at the end. One was a broken 1/2 inch drill bit. I flattened to top and sharpened the bottom like a bowl gouge. That works great. Looking good Al. I don't know if you can hear that loud whistle or not but its hard to watch with that racket going on.
God Bless my friend.
Thank you Frank I should have put that in the description right off the bat. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out a fix for it. well FB friend helped. Thank goodnessMerry Christmas my friend

What are the three components?
equal parts. shellac, denatured alcohol and boiled linseed oil . all available at any hardware store or big box.
What kind of wood is that? Apple?
Thanks for watching. I believe that was a piece of Ficus I had laying around.Thank you again my friend.....Take care Merry Christmas.
